Hope you came to realize you had the compressor turned off when you were demonstrating it. You have to click dynamic and have it turned on it'll light up blue just like the other 3 nobs

My interface has a compressor should i still run the compressor and then use silk? thanks
@PerfectVocalsAcademy25 күн бұрын
Yes, silk works as a resonance suppressor. It will smooth out problematic frequencies. The built in compressor on silk …you can keep switched off or add a bit more compression with it to push it further if need be

would you put this on a bus or in a chain near eq
@PerfectVocalsAcademy Жыл бұрын
I have been using it directly in the chain but using on a bus would work as well.

@@PerfectVocalsAcademy would you recommend using it before or after compression
@PerfectVocalsAcademy Жыл бұрын
I’ve been using before compression. It will tighten up the vocal before hitting the compressor. You could also use it after compression as well! There’s no real rules for this kind of thing
@altrmind Жыл бұрын
You could even put it on an effects bus chain. That way if you have plenty of reverbs on say drums and vocals,, seems this plugin could easily and fast tighten and clean parts of the spectrum.

you have the built in R vox compressor turned off lol
@PerfectVocalsAcademy Жыл бұрын
Yeah I noticed that after i made the video. I will say, making the on/off button red wasn’t a good choice. I thought that was a clipping indicator. On/off light should be blue like the rest of the plug in. After using the plug in more…I wasn’t a fan of the built in compressor anyway

All those companies are just making jokes out of everybody...listen to michael jacksons thriller vocals and tell me he had this BullSh!t on his tracks HAHAHA
@PerfectVocalsAcademy Жыл бұрын
I would say the vocal mixes of 2023 are miles ahead of the vocal mixes in the days of Michael Jackson’s thriller. But we are all entitled to our own opinions
@alexandersorbas1881 Жыл бұрын
@@PerfectVocalsAcademy you must be kidding
@PerfectVocalsAcademy Жыл бұрын
You must be referring to vocal performance. Not vocal mixing. I understand jackson had great performance, but come on man, vocal mixing has come a LONG way since then
@altrmind Жыл бұрын
Michael had impeccable understanding for vocal performance on track. But this technology existed before in the equation and types of compressors used. I mean do you use your daw in buckets like an old console or just pick and insert on the fly. Very different from what the masters of old did. I mean. You can use the inserts from channels to reamp and send signal to "wherever" you need. What really matters then is your signal to headroom etc.

With what this plugin is doing I would use.. a pre amp to eq to compressor back to eq and set my deesser/gates right where I need it. Then add some more eq like the pultec-- for color/saturation,, then see if it needs more glue/gloss later
