Looks very interesting. I like to buy but I already own a Scheps Omni channel, is the function not overlapping? Either I get this one or Kramer Tape plugin, which one is worth getting? Thanks

Can I ask you a fun question Mike? I'll just make this scenario up, but let's say you had to master a Classic Rock album, a Hard Rock/ Metal album, and Hip Hop Album only with plugins, and you could only have 1 standalone Sterio EQ, 1 Standalone multiband EQ, 1 Standalone Buss Compressor, 1 Limiter, and you could also pick one Mastering Chain plugin or Multi-Function plugin aswell what would they be!
@mixingwithmike6 жыл бұрын
Aaah! the old desert island question! Mastering Chain Plugin would be Ozone 8. EQ would be the bx_Digital V3, Compressor would be the UA Fairchild 670, Limiter would be the Waves L3-16, Tape plugin would be the UA ATR 102, Dynamic EQ is a tough one but I usually go to the Waves LinPhase MB. De-Esser Weiss MKII DS.

Pleeeeease review the Arturia 3 Pre Amps You'll Actually Use, specially the 1973-Pre!

Hmmmm, always skeptical of audio hardware emulations from companies that specialize in synths. Seems like an add on for people who buy their soft-synth products.

Sorry for spamming your vids, YT didn't notify me you had replied here :/ I was very curious because of their TAE technology, and some people saying that it compares to the UAD in terms of quality

@@mixingwithmike but you'd think if they can emulate a CMI V why not a preamp?
@mixingwithmike6 жыл бұрын
@@spaceorbison Maybe, but the focus is on the nuances of emulating a synth whereas a company like UA focuses on the nuances of emulating preamps. It's like saying that a person who is an expert at building cellos can do a better job of building violins than someone who specializes in building violins. That said, I will check it out anyway...

Awesome review as always and plugin.. my only problem with it is you can't Sacle the UI.. UI is soo small..
@mixingwithmike6 жыл бұрын
I agree, wish the UI was resizable. This seems to be thing with Waves in general, there must be a specific reason why they don't do it. Backward compatibility I guess?
@Manuwarna6 жыл бұрын
Thank you for the reply.. :) come to think of it Backward compatibility might be the best explanation.. i do love waves plugins a lot.. but even at a 1080 display these plugins are too small.. i hope waves update these.. and Thanks again for these plugin reviews.. your reviews are always the best.. ♥

It’s hidpi and resizable now

Hi, noticing this plugin contains a compressor and EQ, for example. What makes it suitable for a Master channel? Say vs a SSL E, for example. Not sure what constitutes a plugin for the master channel vs non master channels.
@mixingwithmike5 жыл бұрын
Typically, the quality of the individual components. The TG Mastering Chain was comprised of Class A components. The SSL E Channel could not possibly all Class A components or would have been too expensive for the market at the time. Also, The TG Mastering desk was specifically designed for mastering work, whereas the SSL console were primarily designed for mixing and recording.
@TheDude-vx6wn5 жыл бұрын
Michael White thank you, could you please elaborate further on what differentiates a mastering plugin from a mixing/non mastering plugin? I see you mention "Class A" components (I assume that refers to high quality), not exactly sure what that means. Considering both are from reputable companies (SSL and Abbey Road), not sure what difference there can be from, for example, an EQ,on an SSL vs on the "Mastering" plugin from Waves - a plugin which I like very much as I do the SSl E and G. Just not sure what makes a plugin more suitable for mixing vs mastering. In my mind they each just offer a different tone "color". Thank you.

@@TheDude-vx6wn The actual components (capacitors, resistors) are better, more accurate transmit voltage precisely. That's the technical difference.

How do you use the compressor without a threshold?
@mixingwithmike6 жыл бұрын
Fixed threshold. There is no documentation I can find for what the threshold actually is. If it is like the TG12345 channel compressor, then the compressor is at -infinity and the compressor is always compressing. This would make sense since you can adjust the ratio starting from 1:1. This is actually a very common approach for mastering engineers to transparently compress the whole mix by using a very low threshold and very light ratio. You can control the dynamic range by 2-3dB without coloring the sound and get a louder master at the output.

This really seemed to be a great plugin option for a great price. However... it doesn't work in Studio One 3 Pro on a Windows 10 computer. Waves needs to fix this issue. I'm sincerely pissed about wasting money on a final sale plugin.

Is there seriously no built in global bypass button on a Mastering Processor????
@mixingwithmike6 жыл бұрын
Every DAW has a bypass feature built into the header. Yes, they should have included a global bypass, but not an issue in my mind.
@joelybarish46186 жыл бұрын
@@mixingwithmike Nonsense. Every plug should have it's own bypass because the bypass in DAW's incur latency which makes it extremely distracting when switching the DAW bypass in and out. This is ESPECIALLY true of mastering type plugins which induce larger than normal latency. Anyone that does mastering is aware of this. Why are you acting like you aren't???
