nice tips. I love garageband for it's simple platform. I have zero experience with music editing/mastering and musical engineering but garageband helped me figure it all out. Your tips absolutely worked for my vocals and I finally know what I need to do to get the sound I've always wanted! You rule. Please keep up the good work and make sure this video stays up so I can use it for reference. Thanks (:

I hate when people bash garageband just because its $5. Like, dude, if garageband was $50, everyone would be lining up to say how good it is. Me personally, I use garageband for my home studio and it does everything I need it to do. No sense in me paying $100-200 for Protools when everything in garageband is simple and works.

Idk if your still struggling, but I would suggest watching individual KZbin clips about the stuff he said. Example: “ How to EQ vocals”. Also don’t expect to be perfect in the beginning. You honestly don’t even know what you need until after you’ve trained your ears to pick up certain things.

So I was looking for info on something and came across this, four years old and some blunt views deprecating GarageBand. It is very interesting as we sit in 2021 now, to note all the power coming to so-called ‘mobile’ computing (my ipad goes nowhere!) and Apple silicon in the form of M1, is going to cause an earthquake of disruption in a good way, for CPU. Being as it is, a system on a chip, which is actually not a new thing, motherboards for PCs had built-in modems, and graphics, etc, and Apple have just concentrated things further into one plastic envelope with legs. Garageband brought AI drumming, and I defy any amateur drummer to make a better beat at short notice, for zero cost, in a few seconds. GB may have been basic even four years ago, but it really is neither incapable nor of course ‘free’. I bought my ipad Pro specifically to use software that was explained and set up in a way that got the technical issues out of my music-making - that turns out to be GB for iOS, or iPadOS 14.3 as they are now. Three singles out on itunes, and it does take some ‘workarounds’ to get GB iOS to master a track etc, but if you put the workarounds in a manual it would be called a workflow. GB iOS has been ahead at times, and it knows what I am going to call my tracks as I work, before I have to do it. We are at a beginning, I have both Cubase and Studio One on a PC, and won’t use them unless I find something I cannot work around on the ipad Pro 2. I don’t denegrate PC DAWs, I just find that once I got into GB for iOS, suddenly routing wasn’t the main thing I was trying to figure out, it was music arrangements! That was a revelation, and progress is having to think about music not some weird routing, that I can neither see nor get a map of. I’ve crashed GB countless times, and lost no more than the last couple of bars usually. Cubase, Studio One, Logic, FL Studio, it’s all fine, there’s no need to take a dump on someone’s workflow people! Have a good 2021, it surely must improve on 2020, let’s try for that.

Eolas familiarity... I would imagine the singer, shown here, was a child (or adolescent) when this vocal style was initially dominating the charts. As a result, she and an entire generation draw vocal inspiration from oughties bubblegum pop.

Look I need help When I try to mix in GarageBand, every vocal track will sound the same, but I am trying to mix the verse a different way than the adlibs, but it’s always messes everything up when I’m try to use a plug in, the plug in effect goes on the whole track, so how do I make different layers sound unique?

Make sure that when you are editing plugins you don't have "Master" selected but that you are editing the individual track's settings. Hopefully you've figured this out since you commented two years ago...

@warmothgmc
@warmothgmc 7 жыл бұрын
akshat bilgaiyan couple things: are any of your individual channels clipping? If so, GarageBand will squash those channels down when you export thus creating your low volume issue. Are you using the master track plugin tools to master your mix? I have good results using a couple compressors, EQ, and peak limiter on the master track to bring up and smooth out the output level before actually exporting.
