Kendrick really does open your eyes. He helps me appreciate life, makes me realize what this world really about..... And this is his early work. Simply amazing
@PrinceJayReal9 жыл бұрын
+Sabrina Benavidez The fact that this is early work is what really impresses me. Don't get me wrong, I really enjoyed Section.80 for example, one of his earlier projects, but he gets so much better with every project from a musical, political, philosophical, social, and personal perspective. After Good Kid Maad City I felt like such a project would be un-toppable for him but he blew my mind with To Pimp A Butterfly and actually surpassed it. I feel the same way in regards to his next project, he certainly can't get any better than he already is, right? Well, all I know that I'll never bet against the kid again. Kendrick Lamar is a special human being and we're fortunate to be alive in this time period to experience his music, character, etc.

Kendrick's verses make me think of King David in the bible..especially after he gets confronted about his adultery (and associated murder, sabotage etc..) David write Psalm 51 basically pouring his heart out and singing of the mercy and grace God has shown him. Despite his savage ways God says he is a man "after his own heart." Considered a talented poet and musician, his Psalms live on today.

You know what, beloved brother? You're right. This song does resemble the pain & confession that King David rendered unto Yehwah after he & Bathsheba lost their child, bcz of his greed & coveting Uriah's wife so much that he constructed a plan to have Uriah killed so he could have Bathsheba. He manipulated Uriah. Sending him to fight in his army. Bcz knew Uriah loved & adored him, respected & was devoted to him, & would stop at nothing to serve & please him. He had no knowledge of how to fight in battle, let alone a war. Resulting in him being slain in battle. That scripture has always been one of my favorite in Yehwah's holy text. Partially bcz David accepted his wrong doings, greed, & coveting, his selfishness, his deceit, him betraying & exploiting the love Uriah had for him. & he boldly sought out/ came to bow at the feet of Yehwah & confess, which is the way apologies should be done. But also I love that scripture bcz when he was down & out, depressed at hurt, but he went into a room in privacy & told himself, "Soul, why art thou disquieted in me? HOPE THOU IN GOD!". & I've had to do that many, many times. 8 yrs ago I was 19 & had been in the streets since my first child was born 6 yrs prior, when I was 13, trying to make fast money to be able to provide for my family as the only man in both, my blood family & my son's mother's family. Eventually the streets ceased being just my source of my income & it became my addiction. Scaring ppl w/ my ruthless & careless deeds & actions. My older brothers were more laxed & relaxed but they were in the streets as well. One day the 8 of us went out to go hoop, & while we were getting something to eat at Pizza Hut before doing so. & while I was in the restroom Yehwah spoke to me. He told me to go home after eating & let my brothers know that he said the same for them as well. Which shocked me & made me angry as well. I have a blood condition that causes excruciating pain from out of nowhere, & for days & days at a time. & when I'd pray I never heard him reply & speak back to me. & now (that day) I'm not in pain, I'm going to have a good time with my brothers, & you're first speaking to me is to tell me to go out & enjoy my day with my brothers & I'm not in pain, but you wouldn't speak to me when I'm in the hospital & in agony when I need you?!?! I cursed Yehwah & told him no. Less that an hour we had eaten, got to the park, & had just started hooping. Not knowing Yehwah told me what he did bcz someone we knew had betrayed us & let individuals we were in beef with know where we'd be going. & those individuals pulled in two cars; I'll never forget it. An orange Crown Vic & a tan Toyota. They got hopped & started shooting. They hit all of us & dipped in the span of about a minute, then they dipped. I saw 3 of my brothers die on that basketball court before losing consciousness. 5 of us were in the hospital. 3 of us in ICU in comas, I was one of them. My two other brothers died in their comas. One, the next day after the ambush, & the other died in his coma the day before I woke up. I was devastated, heart obliterated, soul crushed. My brothers were more level headed & moved in a mature manner. & here I am, the reckless lil brother but alive. While my more mature brothers were dead; in a large part due to my recklessness & in any even larger part due to me disobeying Yehwah's warning. I can't even begin to give an estimate of how many times I've listened to this song & just weeped & sobbed begging Yehwah to forgive me, & telling my deceased brothers how sorry I am. I didn't/ couldn't understand why Yehwah kept blessing me. Yehwah is great & merciful, more than what deserve.

Kendrick is very clever with his wordplay , I like how he in the beginning he says "and I don't know why he keep blessing me" and as the song progresses he says "now I know why he keep blessing me" , the answer to that is , so he can live on , share his story , and bless us with great music , like this song .

A repentant wayward young black mans anthem in this land of the greed and the home of the slaves. Song makes me think put God first and it's all gonna work out, highs and lows, light or dark. This life is a test where the next page is never promised and even when we think we are too far gone with no light of hope in sight, the warm hand of Our Father pulls us back from the depths in which we could not even properly perceive ourselves; and where dreariness and desolation lurked he places strength to stand in time's of weakness and a love so powerful death itself has no choice but to fall in its presence. This song is so beautiful man. Yah bless these artist and all those who resonate with this message..and even if you didn't like it Yah bless you, in the sacred name of Yahusha Ha Mashiach.

Just had a rollover car accident. Only suffered a head gash. Found myself asking why He keeps blessing me-cause this isn’t the first time He’s kept me here despite the odds. This song has always been a favorite; but it hits different today. Very different. Blessed.

+ One of the rare music that made me cry... Helped me through dark times. It's 2019, and i'm still here with goosebumps when i listen to it. This is why nobody will top Kendrick Lamar for me.

OzaMusikTV when Kendrick made The Heart trilogy,he meant it. He's gone through a lot being from the inner city of Compton so it makes sense why he'd put emotion in. He remembers all he went through

djhero0071 i know and same thing with here, imagine going thru all that shit with your friend and then you end up almost getting killed but instead a lil boy dies because of you.

But the "so i can bless you" part is true cause my happiness dont mean nothing but me helping others so i can see them happy. Thats why i listen to this song to remind me that im alive cause im blessed 🙌
