Man, look at her... Still in a very much pristine condition... Her funnels still showing her bright colors... Look at her now... All faded out... This isn't the fate she deserved... So I hope that the Conservancy can restore her to her former glory as a museum to show her history...

Good morning and Happy New Year. I HAVE SOME VERY VERY BAD NEWS. PLEASE READ!! Court date set for Tuesday January 16th at 8 am Philadelphia courthouse. Please go there and help😢😢.. The SS United States is facing serious and immediate threats. The vessel’s landlord, Penn Warehousing, doubled the ship’s rent during the coronavirus pandemic and has sued the Conservancy, demanding back rent and the removal of the ship from the pier. The Conservancy has been unable to secure an alternative berth, and a trial is scheduled in mid-January. An unfavorable judgment would devastate the Conservancy and likely compel us to relinquish control of the vessel. The Conservancy’s board is now evaluating various contingencies on a very tight and demanding schedule. If Penn Warehousing wins a judgment against the Conservancy, the SS United States may have to be scrapped.

Better for it, Her time has come and gone. Better to be at the bottom of the ocean than at the hands of a scrap dock or a floating corporate shopping mall

Unfortunately hard to find a generous city like Long Beach CA who is generous to buy the Queen Mary to convert it into a Museum Hotel Ship. SS USA will never undergo the same path as Queen Mary & that's a bummer... Ideally, SS USA would have serve as a Museum Hotel Ship to be docked near Washington DC if possible. But seems to be never the case...

Travelled on this beauty in early sixties from New York to Southampton, UK. Love sailings transatlantic during my young days, including SS Queen Elizabeth in January 1956 from Southampton to New York. After her retirement, I sailed on her sister ship Q.E.ll from New York to Southampton again. Had the pleasure of sailing on El d’France, Flora Laura, and P&O from Auckland NZ to San Francisco, ca. great memories which are impossible to repeat these days. Happy Sailing!🎉🎉🎉

This must be very old because this was before she was sent to Turkey to have her interior and lifeboats removed, let's hope that the United States will be saved.

It should have been fully scrapped back then, so we could have at least recaptured some of the materials consumed in its construction.

Sad to see whats happened and the court order to have her removed from the port of Philadelphia.Only to be sunk as an artificial reef.Not dignified as an end.!.
