OK. I got the skinny on the Hatteras. It was originally a 65 and it was extended to an 82 ft'er in 2000. It was named Catchin' Moments. She does have stabilizers so she shouldn't roll that bad if they were working. She has 2 generators to run power so the hydraulics for the stabilizers should have worked. She has twin 12V71 w/turbo's, 870 HP and both were overhauled in 2005. She was for sale for only $599,000 but was taken off the market. It is now named Catchin' Feelings.

Generally speaking, get the boat up on plane and trim the nose up. Get on plane by speeding up, most boats are made to lift up higher in the water. Watch some more of WaveyBoats and Boats versus Haulover videos. BVH he talks about how they are doing, grades who "wins", the boats or Haulover Inlet.
@jttech44
@jttech44 Жыл бұрын
On plane, and trimmed way up. Pull power going up a wave, apply power going down a wave, keep power on inbetween. That'll keep your bow up. Inexperienced captains are afraid of visibility issues, so, they don't trim up, and wind up pushing their bows through the waves instead of over them. You really do have to trust that people are going to use proper channel etiquette and stay on the proper side. Or just get a bigger boat. 40+ foot yachts can mow through hallover without much drama all day long. Also, wear a pfd in conditions like this, always. If you bonk your head as you get yeeted overboard, you're dead without one. Maybe dead with one, but, improve your chances you know?

That Hatteras around the six minute mark is from the “ in too deep bro “ KZbin channel. It is a young man that bought that boat and drives it from Miami to Maine. I messaged him on Instagram to let him know you got him on your video. Super cool!!

The 45.72m/150' motor yacht 'Catching Moments' (ex. Richmond Lady) was built by Richmond Yachts in Canada. Her interior is styled by design house Pavlik Design Team and she was delivered to her owner in June 2013. This luxury vessel's exterior design is the work of Richmond Yachts and she was last refitted in 2019.

Stuffing a pontoon boat is both captain error as well as unavoidable in these waters. Pontoons are a closed water/bay boat. Not meant for open waters and inlets. Good show

That mystery yacht...I don't know much about boats but that thing looks kind of rode hard and put up wet. Not just the black diesel smoke, it just looks grungy and in need of a good clean and coat of paint and polish. It sounded good when the diesel wound up though. It reminds me of the aquatic version of, like, a '76 Winnebago. Same brown/beige color, same state of mechanical repair?

Pontoon Boats getting some "Stuffing" is Captain's fault b/c the things really are not for open seas.... lol, that said, he's also wrong for bringing it out on such a windy day so that's 2/3 strikes & now the 3rd Strike = he ran it right into the waves several times so yes, the pontoon captain is "Struck OUT". Needs to stay in the Intercoastal. peace

The mystery yacht definitely has some issues. With the amount of black smoke coming out of the exhaust on the one side, it’s pretty obvious it’s not running well. I would’ve thought the captain would know his yacht and its condition before heading out. Watching from Minnesota, USA
@ronaldjoyce7374
@ronaldjoyce7374 Жыл бұрын
It does appear the yacht has a steering problem, looked like he was using his bow thruster to help steer and it’s blowing coal out of the exhaust, they need to check the turbos, one or both could be having trouble, If the captain knew he had a problem, he should’ve been going much slower than what he was. Just my opinion. Ron

Ive don’t most of my boating in the great lakes. We get bad weather and down bursts that stir things up like that and I’m surprised how few boat drivers ( hardly deserving of the title of captain or pilot) are not driving around or surfing the waves. Every once in a while you will see a raunchy 30 year old Bayliner with a in line 6cyl, 115hp, Merc come flying in like nobody’s business and there isn’t any bouncing, flying, nothing. Just a couple of old farts that been doin the haul over for 50 years and make it look easy. It’s a talent. You have to drive the boat, not point it. It’s not easy and when you are learning how to do it by the “guess and test” method you get wet, scared and humbled.
