The guy at 4:13 seems to know what he is doing. Such a small vessel in comparison to the others, yet almost no bumpy ride. What is he doing differently than the others? Is it throttle control and feeling of the water beneath you and experience? He made that little single engine bay boat handle that rough water like it was no problem. (asking because of a new found interest in seakeeping/boating.)

I was raised in Miami and have been a boat owner and the son of a boat owner. Been boating since I was 9 and I'm in my 50's now. Been through many inlets to the intercoastal waterway from the Atlantic all up the Southeast U.S. Haulover has always been treacherous and takes a good amount of experience to go through that inlet under ANY weather conditions. After all the fatalities that have happened there you would think they would put a 90 degree or 2 45 degree bends into this waterway to cut down all the violent currents is beyond me.

@Top Dawg letting the wave behind you, catch up with you is a one way ticket to either staving the nose and taking one way too much water or getting pitched sideways and rolling. Keep up with the wave in front and you'll not only be safe and have an easier time controlling the boat, the ride will be a lot nicer for everyone on board. These idiots are doing everything the exact opposite way to what the should be doing... The only thing he could have done worse would be to stop and/or turn around. And I wouldn't doubt this idiot would be the kind of guy to try to turn around whilst heading out to sea in these conditions.

I've driven in a few of those and I don't understand why they don't match the speed of the wave and just surf it in. Done it many times. In a light boat you feel the 'lift' and the 'fall', open her up quickly and judge the throttle. Of course the danger is nosing in, but just back off a tad if you start going to far forward...

Yeah, letting the wave pass under you from behind is how you get pushed sidewayz and rolled over. Like you said surf it in . @@craigerking9790 Mate your comments border on trolling. You assume everyone making comments here have never been in these conditions as captain of a boat and that's just bullshit 😐

@@craigerking9790 I see you've made comments all over on here about life jackets. If you choose to not wear one, that's your choice. I've lived by the ocean or the great lakes my entire life and I do have my kids wear life vests. Get over your self. Going all through these messages like your special and know something NOBODY else does.

@@adamboughner391 im just replying to people that feel like that are so important that they need to correct me, you obviously didn't read much as I said I am just giving up my opinion for people who might go out rent a boat o are first timers and then think they need to load their kids up with vests which will ruin their boating experience. Also I grew up living on a boat and have physically lived on the ocean my whole life (not some shitty house boat either, a sportsfisherman) so i have a some experience myself and from that I was just saying in this situation everyone is kinda overacting, the kids were in no harm.

Children don't really wear life jackets on boats in Miami, not saying its right but its the norm But I agree that it is not right in some cases and is dangerous

This should be a Boston Whaler commercial, that's one safe boat with a cameo by a Zodiac type.
