as a recovering alcoholic it's so useful to hear people just talking casually and openly about drinking being a problem for them without putting down drinking as a whole or generalising everyone who drinks, some people can consume alcohol in a way healthier way and not struggle with it and that's awesome for them.

My relationship with alcohol was identical to what Katie described. I actually listened to an interview of hers earlier this year where she said she was sober and it helped her as an artist. I was wanting to take my music more seriously and when I heard she was sober it really struck a chord with me.. I’ve been sober since April of this year and I honestly don’t know if I would have felt as inspired to do so if she hadn’t spoken about her sobriety. Thank you, Katie! You’re such an inspiration 🌱💖

I saw them perform in downtown Portland this past month, and there was a really transcendent moment when the first drops of rain - from a thunderstorm that had already forced the showtime to change from evening to 1PM - were beginning to fall, just as she got to the "And I will chase all the rain, put it down, call it paint…" part of "The Eye." And Katie & the Crowd were all looking up and/or realizing the rain had finally arrived at the same time as she sang - it didn't feel like an invocation, it just was one. /// So many magic moments at that show - even tho the lightning made it end early, I donno if i'd want that day to have been any different or stormless.
