Same, dude. I felt like the generational divide in worldview stemmed directly from 9/11 because to me and my friends, it was clear even then that we were the big bully overreacted to someone finally punching back. Like full respect and condolences to the ones who died in the attacks, but even my 7-year-old ass understood we'd put a major target on our backs for that to have happened to us.

Caleb said candy corn was invented in the 1800s and I said "ugh!" out loud, as if I'd just been told all candy corn was produced then 🤦

As a mother (and grandmother, 61yrs) 1st, im in love with you both. I have a similar story and can relate to the dialog you guys can have. My oldest son & I have these conversations so as a an old guide, Caleb, Heres the advice I have regarding why you arent finding a long term man with a future fam possibility, DO NOT FLY THEM TO YOU. They need to find their way to YOU. Equal or more solid than YOU are at minimum. What are they bringing to this future table where a child just like you & your mother, my future best friend/sister , will break your hearts and make you so proud. Your redneck child's dad is dad material now. NOW. XOXO.

In defense of trunk or treat, I live in a really small and sprawled out town and if it weren't for the churches I wouldn't have had near as much fun on Halloween. I never even got to hand out candy because no one bothered to go all the way to our house. From my experience, its more of a community wide event, no church membership required lol. though I can imagine there are places where membership to a certain church is used as some kind of status symbol
