Beautiful knife very reminiscent of the buck 110. Many knives of this style and shape were definatly put out throughout the years and it's still a popular model today. Thanks for the look see and keep making sharp things fun and enjoyable

Nice job cleaning that knife up! I have the same knife, but the blade is stamped L66 with date code C. The handle is stacked leather and the snap is plain, with no wording. Those knives hold a nice edge. Mine probably came from the Boy Scout store, the best that I can recall. I don't use mine any more because I now favor drop points. But maybe I'll take mine out to the woods this fall to skin a deer or pig for old times sake! The leather sheath with turn your brass guard green, so you may not want to store the knife in the sheath. But I live in the south, and maybe it's a high humidity thing. The same thing happens with my Buck 110s. I wrap them in wax paper to store them now. I still have my Boy Scout manuals also! A few years back, I picked up a Plumb hatchet w the BSA stamp on it and the original sheath. I'm guessing it's from the '60s. Right after that, I found a BSA round ax sharpening stone. It came in a thin plastic holder, so I'm guessing '70s or '80 on that. It had a couple of nasty grooves/ nicks in it. I rubbed it on the concrete driveway a bit to smooth the stone out, and then cleaned it up on a cheap Harbor Freight whetstone. It looks good as new now. Almost any old whetstone with nicks or that's dished out can be smoothed out the same way if you don't have one of the special stones that is made to flatten stones. The key to keeping/getting them very flat is to rub them against two different surfaces. If you only use one surfaces, each surface will start to mirror the other. That's why I have 2 HF stones, plus I use them on machetes and even my shovel edges. They are very soft and grity. Luckily, they are doubled sided, so I rub them on each other now and then to smooth them out. Don't buy them thinking that you can use them to put a good edge on a knife made of decent steel. Save your money and pick up a vintage quality stone at a garage sale. If it needs it, flatten it on the sidewalk or your driveway. I've picked up some nice ones that looked terrible for only a couple bucks.

Thanks, i have all kinds of stones.. From old to new, from Diamond to Wet.. I pick up about every old Plumb i run across these days. I'm actually in the process of building a small hatchet for my granddaughter. I posted a vid of that not too long ago showing how i'm shaping the handle!!
@yellowdog762jb Жыл бұрын
Thanks! I'll have to watch that one! I also like to clean up and rehang old ax heads. I have a 3/4 lb Norlund Voyager that is in the stack right now. Finding a handle that is proportional has been a challenge. @@bigjsknives

I wonder why there are so many different blade and jandle shapes for the same model W36? Mine is marked W36 but looks completely different than yours. It has the "saddle horn" pommel and a a straight spine and wide belly blade.

That’s a good question, after 84 they sold to Coleman then to Camillus in 91, and now some China brand owns the name. I have 2 1982 532’s and they’re completely different as well.

@@nathanduckeorth806 agree 💯, Western 1st sold to Coleman who then sold them to Camillus. A few USA 🇺🇸 companies tried to get Camillus but they weren’t able to make it happen.
