don is one of my favorite demo people. he has a calm presentation, takes gear through many settings, super professional and has the chops to do varying styles depending on the item.
@mukmuk7752 жыл бұрын
It might just be the best pedal demo I’ve seen. He recognizes the limits and usage before they jump into rolling the camera; and he played riffs/phrasing demonstrating its best usage. In my humble opinion, of course.

For the record, it's actually an EHX Mini Synthesizer on the two Van Halen tracks in question, not a Micro Synth. Big difference. The Micro Synth is basically a fuzz circuit and an octave divider run in parallel with an envelope-triggered swept filter, whereas the Mini-Synthesizer was an actual subtractive analog synthesizer with a cheap keyboard layout built into it to trigger the sounds.

It's actually really gratifying to see a player of Don Carr's caliber vocoding the envelope sounds with his mouth... 'cause I do exactly the same thing. I call it "faux-coding."

I'd love for this module's many parameters to be controllable with CV signals, making it a perfect hybrid between pedals and modular.

Mine arrived yesterday (bought at Sweetwater, via Caleb Smith,) and it's indeed a weirdo (the pedal, not Caleb!) Sliders have a small bump in the middle of their range that let you know that's the default position. You do not mix the effects... you kinda unbalance their relationship. And like Don states in the video, harmonics react very different to pick attack, selected pickup position, and your guitar's tone and volume pots. It demands to be funk'd! Love it so far! BTW, it also includes custom guitar picks, ala Purple Platypus re-issue. EDIT: The Blue Hippo and Supa Puss are its best friends.

@sweetwater3 жыл бұрын
Hello! I haven't tried it on bass yet, nor have I seen anybody who has. I think it could work, but I'd be worried about how much low end would come out of it. But I do play bass, and I have watched the new Dune movie twice already, so it'd be tempting to try out... 🤔 If you want a synth pedal that is geared specifically towards bass, check these out: www.sweetwater.com/store/detail/C4Synth--source-audio-c4-synth-pedal www.sweetwater.com/store/detail/BassMicroSyn--electro-harmonix-bass-micro-synth-pedal www.sweetwater.com/store/detail/BassMonoSynth--electro-harmonix-bass-mono-synth-synthesizer-pedal Thanks for the interest!
