Penn State returns five of its top six players (all seniors), has a top 25 recruiting class and is bringing in four high upside transfers. that team will be better than people expect per usual.

Purdue doesn't get better "losing Edey". They stay good because of who they have on their roster. Same reason you are trying to elevate Michigan and Indiana. Michigan won 8 games last year. And now they have "better chances"? What is your logic there, and how would that logic not apply to Purdue anymore than it would to Michigan or Indiana for that matter? Purdue has stability. Known pieces. And a top recruiting class of freshman with 1-2 immediate impact guys coming in. Programs lose players every year. Top programs stay good regardless. Purdue has been a top program in the last decade. They will remain good. Nothing about Michigan or IU shows that they have had any recent stability to give them the same benefit of the doubt.

Guys, talent-wise your tiers make total sense. But keep in mind, not every team in a conference can have a losing record because there has to be a winner for every game. Therefore, there will be a handful of B10 teams who will make the tourney with decent records even though they have below tier talent.

No Illinois fan I'm aware of is trashing Hansberry. He will be a good player but so will Booth. We feel Booth will be better than Hansberry for 3 reasons. 1. Pedigree. 2. Antigua working with him. 3. Booth actually played alot last yr giving him experience against top level talent on nightly basis where Hansberry was injured and played sporadically.

I don’t understand the Purdue narrative. Edey elevated the play of the small guards since he had to be double-teamed and it led to guys being open. Haven’t heard of any big portal additions, and their best best prep recruit is ranked 35th and the only other top 100 is #88….

They’ve got the two freshman from last year. Colvin was top 100 and heide is athletic and can shoot. TKR will be all big ten and of loyer and smith both return. Lots to work with.

Amazing how some don't know basketball. Edey was rated 400. Carsen Edwards was around 113. Recruiting rankings matter to a point but for this program they Don't. Painter gets guys that fit his system. If you look at rankings exclusively it's just lazy

Is that like how they were worse without Ivey? Or more like how they were worse without Carsen Edwards? Do this many people forget that Painter has reloaded this roster every year after having to hear the "Purdue is going to be worse without XXXXXX". At what point does that narrative stop? Losing Edey is a loss. Losing Gillis is a loss. But in the past decade Painter has shown that Purdue reloads as well as any team in the country. But if "worse" is just not making the National Title game... sure. :) Or if it's maybe losing 9 or 10 games next year instead of 5 or 6 ... then sure. But Purdue will win 23-27 games next year, and then by 2026 likely be back in the conversation for another 1-seed. Without the need for a full portal overhaul.

Mgbako Goode Leal Can all knock down threes On catch and shoot Carlyle Galloway Cupps Even Reneau shot 43.7% when shooting 2+ 3s a game last year. (12 games) Tucker, Galloway, Rice and Ballo will all be + defenders easily

@@Bigdaddy21694 it’s fair but that’s just the preseason lol. Every team at this time is evaluated by their ceiling and potential flaws. IU couldn’t shoot a lick last year with no guard play and won 19 games and 6th in the B10. They upgraded at every position while retaining their core. It’s not crazy to think this is one of the better B10 teams

They're easily a top 3 Big 10 team and will be a preseason top 15 team they absolutely are as good as purdue and could make a run with the roster they have I'd argue a much better chance than the next best team of Purdue or Illinois

@@logwundawg1970 IU has arguably as good of talent as Purdue. Maybe better -- on paper. But that isn't new. They've had that almost every year for the last 10. It hasn't mattered. Why is next year different than every other off-season when IU wins the "we have equal/better talent" sweepstakes? All of that being said, I think IU should finish Top 4. But should and will are two very different things when it has come to this IU programs recent history. Honestly for Purdue fans its a good thing if Woodson gets to drag this out another year ... again. Next off-season IU will be back in the exact same place trying to win the portal lottery with a multitude of other teams. And with no more Covid year players -- that portal is going to be a lot thinner next year.

Purdue will keep doing what they have been doing for years. Before Edey. Before Ivey. Before Carsen. Win big in the B1G and then get to the 2nd weekend in March. Now will they be Championship Contenders? I'll need to see the freshman hit the floor first. But I'd put Purdue down as a 2nd weekend lock right now easily.
