My wife heard me practicing this in the den and commented that I sounded so much better in my office (which of course was you playing in this video). I’ll keep trying….

I'm a guitarist who went mando about a month ago, and your lessons have had a huge impact on my playing. I already know a ton of songs and they were all learned from your channel. This one will be my next. Cheers and thanks for the lessons.

Loving your lessons! A friend traded me a mandolin for some stuff and I'm falling in love with it. I've played the ukulele for several years, so fret board is not too bad but using a pick is a new challenge. The mandolin a watermelon looking "tatterbug" (Roman Bowl Back) which plays much brighter than your's and would be better for someone wearing green tights playing renaissance Italian music, so I plan on buying an A or F Style if I get any good. Thanks again for all you work and generosity in teaching all this.

Just bought a mandolin or Stradolin just like the one in video.. This is my 1st song learned. FYI the Johnny Cash version of wayfaring stranger is done in A minor.with is really cool for a play along. This one's in E minor I believe. If can ever play the mandolin licks in Emmy lou Harris's version of wayfaring stranger my life will be complete!

Just started mandolin. It's a tough little instrument you think because of its size it's going to be easy but it's just every bit as challenging as any instrument. It's an enjoyable challenge though.

I have heard this tune goes back to American civil war days. is true? Anyway there are other tabs with a more " stumbling- sounding " melody line. I like yours & the way you introduce real terms & concepts for players at different levels. Another good teacher like you is (tonedr) on Y.T. who plays with the Lexington Lab Band. He does guitar & mando.
@MandoLessons9 жыл бұрын
I'm not sure of the origin of the tune, but I would guess that it is probably at least as old as the civil war days, if not older. I'm glad you like my version, thanks for watching! I will take a look at tonedr's channel, thanks for the heads up. I am always happy to see more mandolins on KZbin! Thanks Baron

why don't you say every fret you hold instead of just the one you start on....i mean if I can see and tell the others then I can tell which one you start on
