I still remember a line from a movie (can't remember the name of it) about Johnny Cash where the actress playing June Carter says something like "Anita's the one that's got the pipes." But when The Carter Family or The Carter Sisters sang, each one was perfect in their own way.

Beautiful. Anita's voice is the most pure and clear of any voice I have ever heard. She had no desire to be a big name and have a bunch of hit records and she said all she really wanted to do was just sing with someone else. If she had wanted to be a "star" she could have been the biggest name in country music. Her voice is unparalleled. I also love Waylon's voice on this song. I have heard the male part of this song by other singers, but no one does it better than Waylon. Ironic that both Anita and Waylon are gone, and their song is "No One's Gonna Miss Me When I'm Gone" and how wrong they were. We desperately miss both of them.

Anita recorded ring of fire before cash. He made a statement that he could hear those horns that lead the song in his head and of course Anita's version wasn't pushed so it fell in ole johns lap and away it went.. Such a talent she was that wasn't properly marketed. .

Apparently when Anita heard Waylon sing in the recording studio for her duets with him, she was nervous as she was amazed with his voice and she made the comment about how her voice "had no bottom". Waylon replied that her bottom looked good from where he was standing, which really upset her and the two had to stop recording. Anita had nothing to be self conscious of regarding her voice though

I just realized the voice of Anita! Wow! I checked other songs if hers and even Johnny introduced her as one the prettiest voices in country music. I heard a clip of June Carter who said something about having to “follow Anita”. Waylon is my favorite and this song is so beautiful with Anita’s amazing voice. I never really heard her before.
