He was a real life badass . Some people are. He was like the rock & roll stars that of that time that lived hard and made all that great music. Those songs he wrote are some country gold

He doesn't want you to honor him he wants you to honor Jesus Christ in the fall of Jesus that's what Waylon did that's why Waylon quit partying and playing with Willie and all them guys because he's serving Christ and he gave that stuff up that's what he wants you guys to do he doesn't want you to remember his partying ways and his stupid ignorant way is he wants you to remember him following Jesus the way we're supposed to be a long way we're supposed to live that's what we're supposed to remember.

Just came across Waylon Jennings "Farewell Party" song. Typically Waylon Jennings style of singing from this soul, heart and he he put his full emotions into this song. It put a lump in my throat and tears swelled my eyes. Wish Australian radio stations would play play more country music or at least have a dedicated country station, what get's played on Australian radio isn't music, except for a few singers. Today I have listened to a few songs and wish I had the opportunity of seeing at least one live concert. I struggle to understand why all the greatest of the great country singers are taken way too soon. Thank you Waylon Jennings, RIP.

I think of my Grandpa on my Moms side. He’s a country boy. Lifetime of old cars and old barns. He loved ole trucks and farm equipment. He collected everything he could find. He could jack up barns, trailers and homes. Built his own oil change rack out of rocks and wood planks. Wore coveralls to church. Would give them off his back to anyone on need. A good man.

I can play this over and over! Waylon Jennings version that is. This song takes me to the current feeling of a long marriage with husband who is 16 years older than I am. In the past couple of years dementia set in. And in retrospect, slowly started years before that. I know the "in sickness and in health", but we never know what that experience is like. 😢The dementia pretty much ruined the relationship, and I often wonder during the struggle, when I hear Waylon say with passion, "Will you shed a tear at my farewell party? Or will you be glad when I am gone? "

There is such sadness with this song. A man asks a woman to "pretend" you love me whilst in the presence of the funeral. And, I know Gene Watson made this song, but good lord, nobody can sing it like Waylon Jennings. I have played this hundreds of time since I found it about 12 years ago. Love it!

Page, I am 67 and feel just like you do. I was honored to meet Waylon in 1986, and he was even better looking in person! The first thing I noticed was how very tall he really was. Jessi was with him, and with her being so petite, Waylon just towered over her :) Before he left, Waylon came over to me and gave me a big hug and kissed my cheek. I told my husband that I was never going to wash my face again - hah!!
