“I’m Not Lisa” was unquestionably Jessi’s biggest hit and was actually recorded in 1974 and released as a single the 2nd week of January in 1975! The song went to #1 on Billboard’s country chart in ‘75 AND crossed over to the pop chart and peaked, again in 1975, at #4 on Billboard’s pop chart. Thus it’s amazing to me that Jessi wrote this song, likely in 1971, and performed it here on Hee Haw. This episode of Hee Haw originally aired the last week of February of 1972. Regardless, this is timeless television and I’m glad we still get to enjoy it over 50 years later!

Jessie was so in love with him. I have to admit I enjoyed his music more in his wild and rowdy days. With Willie and the rest of em'. I don't know what it was about it but it just felt different. Perhaps it was that his habits hurt his heart and it played out in his music. Anyway, it's good he sobered up for both his Jessie and his kids as well as himself. My sister was crazy about him after she saw him at a concert once and again a time or two. I used to laugh at her and tease her about it. When the song song " I'm Not Lisa" started making the rounds boy I really got her going! Lol! Maybe I shouldn't have teased her, because she was so shy and quiet. My sister's name was Lisa. It was just so funny to a little old 14 year old tomboy.

Just on the brink of the Outlaw movement, and here we have a key ingredient into Waylon's sound to be, the addition of Ralph Mooney. He was to become as much of the Waylon sound as Waylon's Tele and Ritchie's bass drum. I never tire of seeing the formulation of Waylon during this period, and it's no doubt my favorite era of his before he came fully commercial with the label and the brand.

This has been one of my all time favorite performances since I first captured it on VHS when it was rebroadcast in 1993 as an episode of "Hee Haw Silver" on Saturday night! I love that technology has gotten to the point where I was actually able to take the original mono audio and completely remix it as though I had RCA hand me a 16 track 2 inch from 1973!

As I make it through all the legends of the past, I’m starting to think ole Hoss might take the top spot for me. Was a George jones disciple forever but this dude is just different and way cooler than George jones. Imo. Also, through some of these shows, keep coming across vintage dolly and can’t believe how amazing and talented she was. What a bomb shell too. Yikes.
