I think the skit was funny because 1) Obviously Wayne is not a crazy person so seeing a twisted version of himself was funny and 2) in real life there’s people that look “normal” but are in fact crazy people so it makes sense and is relatable.

Black people do that to each other a lot. Gauge whether or not you're "black enough" like there's some competition and there's a trophy. We say, that person is too hood, that person is too boogie ..etc etc. Why? Why? That's one of the reasons why we end up being stagnant in terms of progress in some parts of this country.Wayne Brady is one of the most multi faceted talents out here. You can't put him in a box . I wholeheartedly enjoyed him him each and every time I saw him on whose line is it anyway and he's been a fun personality to follow since then.

Exactly! The joke wasn't about his "blackness", but his appeal to white audiences. Which, let's be real...IS EXACTLY WHO HE CATERED TO! Wayne Brady wasn't showing up on Def Comedy Jam. His humor was "safe". It's like saying "White people like Will Smith because he makes Kwame and A New Beginning look like X-Clan". That has NOTHING to do with Will Smith's blackness! Wayne has some unresolved issues within himself, it sounds like.

As my dearly departed grandmother used to say, "A hit dog will holla." Unfortunately that was a lot of ⚫ people's opinion of Wayne Brady. Not hated, but made fun of for it. I guess Wayne saw it as bullying... which is interesting for a comic to think, imo. Maybe that joke just hit a little too close to home as far as whatever insecurities he may had been having regarding that particular subject?🤷‍♀️ I'm not that familiar with Wayne outside of knowing he was on a show I didn't watch.

Wayne Brady is fucking brilliant lets get that out of the way first he is ridiculously talented, but the joke is just a silly joke very funny too though it is, but the fact that Wayne can be the best improvisor in what many black people probably see as a very white orientated show and what white people see as great family entertainment is credit to him he is still black and I feel Paul Mooney was mocking the show that made Wayne famous rather than Wayne himself.

Wayne Brady is a brilliant actor he can do it all but he is getting annoyed for nothing. Paul Mooney (R.I.P) might be many things but he knew what was funny and that cut to him in that sketch made everyone laugh like crazy it was indeed very funny. If Wayne Brady does not see Who's line is it anyway as a wholesome series that is more for white audiences especially back in the late nineties and early 2000's then he is losing his touch, it is theatrical musical improvisation for Gods sake nothing could be more aimed at the general white population. I think Paul meant that Wayne was a chameleon who could enter every household because he was multitalented and wholesome, rather than Wayne was not black.
