Wayne Brown recognises and understands the problems and the financial mess facing Auckland and Auckland rate payers. Interest payments alone for all the money Auckland councils from the recent past have borrowed.All this created by the stupid and ignorant mayors from the recent past.Why do you think rates are going up and will continue to do so for the foreseeable future ?.This will especially hit people on low incomes and people with big mortgages. Welcome to the future Auckland.There are no pennies from heaven or money that grows on trees .Of course, the Left thinks differently. Good luck to them

The one aspect of Three waters that has to be retained is the provision for urban streams to be managed by a single authority as part of the integrated stormwater network from intake to sea. Unified management and enforcement is essential to mainaining a functioning system that reduces or prevents flooding. As to the rest of three waters particularly cogovernance with its extra tiers of management and consultation, that needs to be scrapped forthwith.
@qksmith

No doubt, but the likely hood of 3 waters entities getting anywhere near stormwater issues in the next decade are near zero

I get what he is saying. And he is right in many respects. But he keeps saying "Wellington needs to stop saying what we want" The govt of Wellington was elected. Largely by Aucklanders, just as the council was. A huge difference is that very few people vote in local elections. I agree that that their are problems. But this idea that the Auckland Council is representative of Aucklanders and that the central govt isnt is just wrong. But mayors will always advocate for more power so no problems there

Seems Mr Brown concentrates on small matters, every day routines to have back on track to make it work and operate, while world developed far and beyond, than that, investing in colossal projects in comparison to NZ, for example, looking at China, USA, UAE, UK. Countries have massive architecture projects in plan for 2024, I have no wonder, that NZ government invents and aims for similar proposals. But his message is important and, as a public transport user, I would solve this issue first, whish is essentially important for me!~

Such a cop out. Stating “MP’s went overseas & saw a transportation system work amazingly but it won’t work in Auckland”…. Why not? I live in Sydney where all the old tram tracks were replaced with high ways only to be bought back because they work better for everyone. 47% of our highways are private toll roads. Please don’t copy NSW transport policies.

John Banks tried to fix the roading problems years ago and got shot down same will happen . Wayne if you are watching fix the footpaths they are dangerous , remove all the trees which roots are causing the problem . You talk about wasting money how much does it cost to trim these trees that no one wants and to repair the footpaths every year ? If you watched Breakfast some time ago with people who sent in pics with their injuries they have had enough too . Funny if at a workplace if someone tripped over something the employer is liable Footpaths are a hazard but council is not held responsible by Health and Safety

Ex National party,Brown who went missing during the cyclone ,landslips,flooding and housing losses until Chippy came to town,he also went overseas to a meeting about cities,"Don't go overseas and bring back their ideas " he says .It's important that major cities like Auckland Wellington +Christchurch accept a responsibility to the smaller towns and regions as most overseas sporting and entertainment events are staged in our larger cities for population, accommodation,costs and value for money or no one would tour here,Brown is only interested in what's good for him ,not the country.Also I worked on removing tram lines +overhead lines in Auckland and was there when tolls were removed from the bridge ,now transportation is moving underground which altho costly will remove a lot of infrastructure to be replaced by businesses, housing ,pedestrian and green spaces

"Brown is only interested in what's good for him" Saw that day one when he was the smug arrogant Mayor of Kaitaia years back. He had a property that partly extended over the harbor at Manganui and got off paying rates by saying it wasn't on land. He's a vile weasel of a 'man' as far as I'm concerned.

Why has Wayne got his NZ flag flying upside down... Auckland doesn't even inforce parking, take the Fort street people who have had free parking for months. So Auckland want a smart city congestion charge. What's his problem with Horowhenua... He asked what Three waters is Solving, then mentions the financial costs could be the problem, which is one of the core problems facing many towns/cities in NZ. Auckland has huge water issues, wastewater, drinking water and stormwater. That's going to cost the city billions to resolve over the next 10 years. Wayne's just too short sighted and doesn't care about long term plans as he will be dead by then and it will be someone else's problem.
