Wayne should just be the ambassador for all of human kind. Every answer is so well articulated and thought out, and comes straight from his heart - aka a very loving place. Mario Lemieux will always be my favourite hockey player. But Wayne Gretzky is my favourite Canadian. Truly proud to say that hes one of ours.

The NHL should find a way to induct him in the Hall of Fame. What he did is exceptional and inspirational and he deserve to be recognized as a role model. I have a family member with this challenge and they need to know about this great human being, we all do.
@AchillesUltra4 жыл бұрын
It’s great that he is remembered and acknowledged for his contributions to the team. Why does that need to include an induction into the HHoF? I understand your sentiment but I don’t think that idea makes a lot of sense.
@gadgetgangster4 жыл бұрын
It's not just contributions to the team but also to the hockey community he's helped and inspired a lot of other kids with Down syndrome. He should be inducted in the builder catigory of the HHOF like Willie O'Ree
@SgtBigCactus4 жыл бұрын
@@gadgetgangster Not to downplay what this guy has done for the Oilers fan base, and people with similar disabilities, but you cannot seriously compare him to Willie O’Ree.
@AJR-zg2py4 жыл бұрын
Hmm... maybe create a special category besides Player and Builder? Maybe Ambassador or something? Joey Moss would be the perfect first inductee in this category! If not, then he definitely deserves a permanent exhibit in the HHoF. Along with other "ambassadors" like Len "Kroppy" Kropioski for the Jets.
@atelierarbwa10864 жыл бұрын
@@AchillesUltra I understand your point and maybe “inductee” is a little too much. AJR mentioned the idea to create another category, like “ambassador” or something like that or maybe a permanent exhibit. Maybe that would be more fitting.

Glen Sather was a real pioneer of inclusiveness back in the 80's. Not only did he bring Joey in, he also offered a job to a student at the time, who had cerebral palsy. I read the article he wrote about meeting Sather and how he didn't take him seriously when the job was offered. It makes me proud to know Sather's greatness has a completely different dimension to it like that As for how to honor Joey? Rename the downtown community arena the Joey Moss Arena, raise a banner to the roof of rogers to honor him, and make a statue of him singing the anthems
@kellythornton90814 жыл бұрын
You have to put his name up in the rafters along side the Oiler greats because he was one of the greats. Not just to the Oilers but to the city of Edmonton. We are so proud of him just like the players from Wayne all the way to Mcdavid and everyone in between.

As a person living with a disability I very much appreciate Wayne Gretzky's grace and kindness. The challenge we face right now is that we are raising generations of children who are taught to respect a given group based on political sensitivities. Depending on the group's political influence, we essentially become afraid to offend them. We have lived through examples of this in particular with the LTGB movements and more recently with African Americans. My opinion is that we would be wiser and we would have more success if we raised the bar and challenged ourselves to respect one another on a universal scale, regardless of the things that inevitably make us different from one another. I have raised my two sons to be respectful and polite to everyone, not just this group or that minority. It's my feeling that we won't ever truly advance as a society until we learn to treat everyone equally period. We have to start thinking of everyone being a "person" and all persons deserve our respect.
