Looks like nepotism got him another job as it did at Birmingham. He was totally clueless for us and contiually blamed the players after each game...Good luck i think you'll need it.

After watching his Intro interview on Argyle TV today, he's definitely said all the right things, and has me mostly convinced on that, but I suppose at the end of the day, actions speak louder than words. Will definitely be interesting to see how he approaches it with a full pre-season and a summer transfer window to work with, since with the embargo at Derby and being brought in outside of any windows / pre season at Birmingham, it wasn't really ideal circumstances to bring in his ideas. I believe one of our former players Ryan Brunt also spoke highly of him from what he's heard from those who played under him which is reassuring. I think he'd also fit the bill more of what we did with Schumacher, in terms of helping him an sort of mentoring in a way to guide him into management, which yielded very positive results with Schumacher before he left. I think we tried to replicate that with Foster, but Foster really seemed to have a one man army approach, since it became clear that the staff brought in was definitely board interference, not to mention Foster's inability to manage players, evidently shown by the fact he burnt bridges with a lot of the players. Initially I was sceptical on the Rooney appointment, and I think until we see his managerial role in action this season, that will always linger, but so far from the way he's communicating, it's a strong step in the right direction.

I thinik Rooney should put being a bad manager on the back burner, and seek medical help regarding the exponential rate at which his head is growing.

Hi,not a Plymouth fan but shocked at Wayne Rooney appointment as head coach especially after what he did at Birmingham think your club will be relegated however May surprise us all&be succesful though I doubt it.

What a strange appointment this is! Did they not see what happened to Birmingham? I think you made some fair points Matt, there is a possibility he could do decent for them. But it's looking more likely to be a bad appointment. I guess only time will tell, and if this one goes wrong it might be his managerial career over. I just don't think he's manager material honestly, I feel sorry to the Plymouth fans

The only reason Rooney did ok at Derby is because of Rosenior as his assistant!!!!!!! Also his high wages were draining the club

Some need to remember also I think we are a better ran club than those who Rooney took over before, and he will also have some great , backroom staff coaches ghat know the players really well and who will b able to support Rooney. And Rooney will be able to bring or try to bring in the players he wants and knows. We have a pretty young and exciting group who is also née to playing at championship level, and who will adapt even more this season I think after having a taste of it last season. So it's a fresh start for all . P.s Rooney will go all,out to prove him self and show all his doughters wrong , and have the inner belife to learn from past mistakes .
@MarkOlivier-c9m6 ай бұрын
He's obviously got the football nouse, but he has poor communication skills, which for me is the Number 1 skill required to be successful in this role. Rooney kind of mumbles his words - definitely not a first team coach. He may work better as an assistant. He needs good people around him, not people who tell him what they think he wants to hear.

To be fair, the real ones who f**ked up Blues season were those muppet owners who chose to appoint him and the timing of it. Yes he did a crap job at Birmingham but if he’s given time (i.e. a full pre season to prepare for next season), he may be able to get a tune out of this Plymouth squad. He can’t be judged too soon!
@Gnaf-mm5rs6 ай бұрын
Hoping he will listen to dewsnip our dof. They were together at Everton. He will have the support from majority of us argyle fans. If he plays good exciting attacking football respects the fans and the players are happy and represents the club well then there won't be a problem. Whoever is in charge the summer transfer window is going to be the key. If we keep our key players and plug a couple of noticeable gaps we are good enough to stay up. 19th will do.

Rooney needs to go back and study. Stop doing the punditry, stop doing press and just go back to the drawing board and understand what kind of coach he wants to be. His whole coaching persona is based on the fact that he is Rooney. Just like Lampard and Stevie G. It’s not enough to live off your past glory days and finesse your way into jobs. I genuinely believe they all can be great coaches but they need to reassess their skills and learn more.

As a argyle fan I'm nervous this season but give him until Christmas if hallet gives him a transfer kitty then maybe but don't help him being in Germany when he should be at HP getting to know the squad and buying and selling deadwood here.

A rare (almost) balanced view. Rooney and Rowett didn't take them down. The owners did. He's made some bad choices of clubs to manage. Rooney will do well at our stable club. That's something he's never had the luxury of having. He'll be ok with us.
@stephenholmes10366 ай бұрын
Its a shocking choice by Hallett and our clown of a CEO. A man who has failed 3 times!. I was hoping we would get a decent young manager like Pete Wild of Barrow formerly and Andy Whing at Solihull Moors as Liam R said No! If not a reliable manager like Nigel Adkins. No we pick a loser, You might want him , I don't im not wasting my money any longer its a long way up country from West Cornwall. Ive been going since 1970 and this is one of our worst ever appointments in my opinion.
@stephenholmes10366 ай бұрын
Mr McCoy his contract was not renewed get your facts right. Oh and Rooney at Birmingham? I won't be missed ? Maybe but since when did you become club spokesman? Where were you when we were at the bottom of Division 4? Ive met arrogant liitle emmets like you a few times and frankly dont give a feck. Withdrawing monetary backing if you don't agree tells Hallett something. In managerial records Wild Whing and Adkins leave Rooney trailing by quite some way. I wonder just how old you are ? Student? You sound arrogant enough and foolish enough to be and how long have you been going?

Keep the faith pal. In reality he was a great player but now is a poor manager. No management skills and communication skill are poor.
