Mike Myers plays the record executive in Bohemian Rhapsody who didn't want to release Bohemian Rhapsody as a single because he didn't think it would be a song "kids could bang their heads to in their cars" exactly what happens in Wayne's World, and Mike Myers showed the Bohemian Rhapsody clip to Freddie Mercury before he passed away and Freddie loved it

It's kind of crazy...the whole idea of the "Wayne's World" skits was a couple of teenagers making a TV show to be aired on local public access TV...And now we have KZbin with thousands and thousands of creators putting out their own video content for all the world to see...

Not even a science fiction movie, a "wouldn't it be cool" scenario where otherwise normal kids/young adults who are just fun to hang out with, achieve fame and fortune creating a "hang out with us" show. Fast forward 30 years...

True Story: Mike Myers actually fought tooth and nail to get Bohemian Rhapsody to be the song to open the film but the studio said that Guns N’ Roses would be a better fit for a headbanger. It got so bad Mike threatened to quit production unless they used the song. After it was released the song went back up to the top of the charts for the first time in 16 years.

1. Tia Carrera/Cassandra sang all of her songs, and she also has a Grammy for singing and voice over work. 2. It's weird seeing Rob Lowe as a heavy. 3. Brian Doyle Murry is Bill Murry's brother and has been in a ton of movie/tv including two of the Vacation movies. 4. Vincent Fournier/Alice Cooper is a historian, so he loved playing in this thing. 5. He is also a surprisingly good golfer and I've had the privilege of seeing him twice 😎😁 6. Ed O'Neil AND Meatloaf.😁😁 7. A 1978 stoner's film you will like is Cheech & Chong, "Up in Smoke". 😎😎

8. Dana Carvey knows how to play the drums, piano, and guitar. It was actually him doing the drum solo during filming. If you get a chance check out his SNL skit with Danny DeVito as the Church Lady when he does another amazing drum solo.

My friends and I saw this in a theater on a weekend trip to Maine from MA when we were in the Army - we stopped at some random theater to see it on our way back to base after a great weekend. Our ride (my friend's mom who had picked us up to stay with them) let us get the soundtrack and we headbanged to it on the rest of the trip. I miss the 90s.

One of my friends showed this to his kids and total dud, they didn't get it all. Gen Z adults though - public access cable was essentially youtube, they've started discovering older music and have a bit more of a frame of reference, and it's like Achara says, the joy they had making this is infectious, you don't have to get the references, it feels like you're at a party with cool famous people.

In case you're wondering about the name of the donut place, Stan Mikita's, it was the name of a famous hockey player. Mike Myers has been a longtime fan of the Toronto Maple Leafs, and a star player for that team, Tim Horton, started a donut shop chain in Canada under his name. Considering where this film takes place though, they picked someone who was a star for the Chicago Blackhawks instead.

Most folk here said most of the trivia but a lil extra bit. The record company CEO, Mr Big is played by Frank DiLeo who was real life manager of Michael Jackson from 1984 to 1989 (Jackson accused him of tampering with money) and again in 2009 so they'd made up again before Jackson died in June of that year. Last time DiLeo saw Jackson was his deceased body at the Ronald Reagan UCLA Medical center "I got to spend a few moments alone with him, I told him what I thought, before kissing him on the head and saying my last goodbye". So yeah DiLeo had actual real-world experience dealing with talented artists.

The second one isn't AS good but it's still good. They didn't make a third one not because they didn't think it would succeed but because he started a whole other franchise with Austin Powers. There was also "So I Married an Axe Murderer" which is criminally under-appreciated. "Wayne's World" started a streak for him that didn't break until "The Guru" bombed.
@ryanjohnson8131
@ryanjohnson8131 Жыл бұрын
Not sure I can cosign on the second one being good. I think it's actively below average. It's like after the success of the first they decided to turn the movie into a live action cartoon. And that I guess could work, I just think it falls flat outside of a few jokes here or there.

There's another movie where Alice Cooper has a cameo, so does Aerosmith, so does Steve Martin, So does Earth wind& fire, and many more. It's a musical film headlined by the Bee gees, with all these other musical guests, and it has no dialogue at all. It's purely a musical, but all the music is Beatles songs.❤️ The Beatles songs are the plot. Yes. The songs ARE the plot. And it's amazing. It is one of the most bizarre, amazing, wonderful, weird musical films ever made. I guess it would help if I gave you the title right?😁 The movie is called: Sgt Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band. And it was made in 1978.

This is my favorite movie, not because it's a cinematic masterpiece or anything, but because I was five years old when it came out, and my dad showed it to me against the objections of my mother. Not only did I think it was the funniest thing ever, but I felt like I was getting a peak at "grown-up" life, which made it that much cooler. I credit this film with sparking my life-long love of heavy rock music. PS I even had a promotional book for the film, which was pretty funny in its own right. Party on!

"Benjamin is nobody's friend. If Benjamin were an ice cream flavor, he'd be pralines and dick." Fun Fact: Dana Carvey is an accomplished drummer and did his own drum-playing for the music shop scene. Career Saver Fact: Rob Lowe has said he discovered his "hitherto untapped gift for comedy" during this movie. The film is credited with reviving his career following the sex-tape scandal. What Script Fact: The scene with Wayne (Mike Myers) and Garth (Dana Carvey) talking on the hood of their car at the airport was the last scene filmed. Since everyone was tired and just wanted the movie done, they ad-libbed it. Historical Fact: Alice Cooper came to the set under the impression that he would be performing musically for the film, with one line. Upon arrival, he was surprised to be handed an entire monologue to memorize and shoot with a small amount of time to do so. However, Cooper is known to be a history buff outside of his music career and quickly knew his stuff. Everything he says is technically, if comedically delivered, true. Music Enthusiast Fact: Bohemian Rhapsody (1975) by Queen was almost not in the film. Neither Paramount nor the film's producer, Lorne Michaels, wanted it in the movie. Paramount didn't want to use the song because the rights were too expensive. Lorne Michaels didn't want to use the song either because it was almost 20 years old at that point, and instead suggested a Guns N' Roses track (because they were more current). Mike Myers fought for the inclusion of the Queen song. Myers even threatened to quit the production if he didn't get what he wanted, and eventually the studio gave in to his demand. Because of the inclusion in this movie, the single rocketed to the number two hit on the Billboard's Hot 100 overnight.

Public access television was the precursor to podcast. There have been plenty of film adaptions of SNL skits since The Blues Brothers, and all of them are products of cultural humor of the time. That, along with the fact that some of the things ported into the movie were established jokes from the skit, can make it feel dated.
