This is a little cart we made a few years ago -- it is a tipping cart for carrying stones and muck, and also a road-going trap for going shopping in. We use it often -- and it shows!
Here's our online store where you can see some of the craft things we make and sell..

I love this cart. Been looking for a tipping cart design for manure spreading on my place in Australia. I think this is the most straight forward design I have yet seen. Thanks.

You are so genuinely ingenious with engineering solutions to problems that I'm surprised you haven't invented something to take care of that wind noise. You could sell it to the big guys for millions! I'm serious! Give it a go!!

Nice cart, well planned out. Manure is easier to pitch with a 5 tine pitchfork. The one used is for pitching hay.

What a great cart! As for washing it, well, you have much more urgent things to do on a farm, don't you? It's only going to look exactly the same by next day anyway, so unless you have "nothing" else to do, why worry about it?

Lovely contraption. I am in the process of buikding something similar for my mare, altough I have to say the seat and box idea beats mine hands down. Say, where did you get that two-cushion saddle (girth) ? I don't seem to be able to find one. I think theyre the best for the comfort of the horse and for maintenance.

If you can find wider tires, they might help in the mud. A seat or two, set above the tires, might not be amiss. Sort of jump seats or crew seats for when the go to town seat is not fitted. I just hope my ideas can help, since I'm too far away to lend hand otherwise. In Boston, but spent lots of time on farms as a youngster. I miss it still.
@WayOutWestx2
@WayOutWestx2 9 жыл бұрын
Jeffrey Plum Thanks Jeffrey - in fact there is already a seat I made that fits on top. We don't use it too much but it's perfect if we go for longer trips on the cart. Wider tyres is a good idea too!

I really wish there were a safe and reasonable way to do this sort of thing here. I'd get run over by a dump truck headed to the quarry or a vacationer in an RV towing a boat within 10 minutes. I guess there are Amish here who get around by buggy somewhat, but even they hitch rides into town in vans rather than risking their lives on the roads.

When I filmed out of doors, I too found the 'wind noise to be terrible. I used an elastic band, or two, to secure a washing up sponge to the camera and to cover the microphone orifice. Needed to thin it out a bit, but the result was a good imitation of a dead cat Sound Muffler. I enjoyed watching your videos again Tim and Sandra.

We are seriously looking into making a cart like this for our halflinger. Do you have any plans or building tips?
@WayOutWestx2
@WayOutWestx2 10 жыл бұрын
Sorry Melissa, no actual plans. And no time at the moment to do up some. I just used some wheels I had, made up sides so that they would support shafts at the right height, and used the axle as the pivot for the tipping part. Perhaps the key is to keep holding it up to the horse as you make it, to be sure it fits. Good luck!
