Ways to Die: Earthrise

All the ways to die in Earthrise: A Guild Investigation. This is a game that I'm willing to bet most of you didn't have a clue existed. I found this one while searching an old hard drive from one of my past computers. This game has 24 different ways to die, and I thought you might enjoy seeing such a strange one out there.

Oh wow, I never heard of that game indeed. Thanks for showing this :). I noticed I developped and obsession with ways to die in Sierra Games with all those videos haha !!!

It just says something like, "You don't need to use the word "cheat" in this game." If you try to jump down the hole it will either say, "Why?" or "You don't need to do that." If you look down the hole it says, "You don't need to use the word "hole" in this game," if you look at the hole it says, "It's more like a crack or a crevice than a hole." Finally, the game doesn't allow you to type anything in after you die. Hope that clears everything.

Well, I did do some research on patents and copyrights. Apparently they last for 20 years. So I guess since it was made in 1990 meaning it's been 22 years and no other company has purchased this game it is technically no longer copyrighted material. I suppose that does mean it's no longer illegal... I'm still making the walkthrough though.

I remember getting this one as an end-of-school-year present back when I was 13.

I had this game right after its release, and I LOVED it... but I never finished it. Obviously, this was in the days when there weren't any Internet walkthroughs available, and this sort of game wasn't easy to solve. But, it made a memorable impression on me. I still have the disks, but at least one was damaged/corrupted somehow (even if I still had a floppy drive today, which I don't). I've always wanted to give this one another shot.

7:47 It's a Mantis warrior from FTL: Faster Than Light! Also follows canon that they're the quickest moving crew members in the game, deal double damage... well, in the case of Earthrise, kill in one hit.

Oh I knew this game existed, I had played it before on Mom's old DOS computer, and I had been searching for it since. I think the farthest I have ever gotten is about 250 points (out of 600?). I was thinking, now that I am older and wiser, I would not be stuck in the same place I used to be when I was of single-digit age.

I think you forgot to jump over the crack as that leads to a slightly different death animation where you hit your head on the ceiling and then fall.

The same thing if you type in something it's not programmed to understand. It just says you don't need to use the word in the game.

A video walkthrough would be great, if you ever decide to do it! I wasn't asking or hinting for pirating software, by the way, I was just mentioning that I still have the box and disks. I think it's relatively rare, unless I'm very much mistaken. It's a shame, since it was well above average, I thought.

Kinda reminds me of the (german) "Mission Supernova" (which did came a few years later to my knowledge) .. the airlock scene, for example. Maybe the author got inspired by this a little? ;)

it seems that the slime or toxic waste spill death especially when the game says well that's one way to clean your sinuses was stolen for the vga remake version of space quest 1 when you sniff the green slime goo

the game should have gave an alternate death message after you removed your helmet & clipped it to your belt it should have said something like there is something very unpleasant about being in an unpressurized environment without a helmet on which you should have kept on and only removed it somewhere safe before giving the rest of the message also whenever this death occurs in general it should say if you if you were still breathing which impossible to do without a head you'd p.k.y.
