I've always been scared to tank and heal because of the pressure. Like, not knowing the way around the dungeon, or not knowing what to do in LFR as a tank, scared of what people think. I'm gonna start recording my journey as a tank (With high anxiety + real life anxiety lol) And i will try to overcome this :D Thanks for the video!

Nice video for new people who want to tank but are nervous to dip their toes in the water. OneAzeroth has an entire series featuring his friend Kop (who struggles greatly with tank anxiety) tanking starting from the bottom to timing a 20 and it is a very interesting watch as well, you should check it out.

get plater or nameplates, whatever it's called, and just blast tanking during timewalking. The recent one was scaled so perfectly so you don't need to know any fights and you can just blast. Get used to holding aggro and your tank abilities. That'll get past the first hump. Then just throw yourself at it. Just do it. It's a game and if people yell at you, whatever. They should be offering to help, not yell.

@@HosheezyMMO How has elvui been? I tried it in BFA but since it wasn’t in curseforge it’s more annoying to update. I also remember it being pretty difficult to set up, just would like to know how the set up an customization is now.

@@KevsShwaShwa I honestly love it! I've tried the default, plater, threat plates, and some other stuff and elvui just feels so nice. The customization is nice but you can also disable parts of it you don't like. I think it's easy to set up but can be difficult depending on how much you want to change or how specific you want to be with stuff. I think it's more beginner friendly now especially since there are so many forum posts that help answer questions you might have. If your not sure where to start you can always import a profile you like online and then adjust parts you don't like.

As a newer player who is 30yrs old, and who tried to get in to retail with bfa and sl and both times failed (loved the classic tho), I really enjoy df. Being tired of always going for dps specs I started playing tank and never looked back. I also grew up in 00's fps lobbies like bf, cod and cs so there is nothing they can say to me that can put me out of mood. When I get shit talked to if I am slow or miss something I just shit talk back and after instance is over I never look back. If you look at your character as a main protagonist in the wow story tanking is most logical choice bc you always face the boss and lead the group. Also you get to hold badass shield. Don't be scared, group needs tank (and heeler) more than you two need them

I’m in a dead server unfortunately. I was mostly a dps player then started healing because they seemed rare to find, now I’m tanking because there’s no tanks 😂 I still have anxiety with it but it’s getting better ! Thank you for the video!

I love healing, have been doing it since the first time I played WoW. I haven’t played since around when Legion came out and I’m getting back into the game now. My issue with tanking isn’t that it’s stressful, I just don’t know any pathing or what packs to pull and when anymore.

Thank you! 💛I don't have a link for the addons but I use ELVUI for my UI (You can customize everything) - tukui.org/elvui. For the other addons they're on curseforge, Details for tracking damage/interrupts/healing, OmniCD for tracking my groups cooldowns, and NameplateSCT for the damage numbers on enemies.

Soooo! Gotta say. I dont know when my tanking anxiety started. I used to MT raids and heroics from BC to BFA. I took a long break and started up again in dragonflight. But now.... it just feels so... different.

I totally get that. Definitely feels different than it used to be… I feel like it’s the community for a lot of it. Maybe finding a good guild or community to surround yourself will help to deal with it if you’re still interested? ❤️

yeah, I gave up... it requires too many addons, and after 15s and a couple 16 m+, I can't be arsed with people complaining because my routes aren't like some youtuber or some addon does it... The community and addon reliance on WoW M+ ruins it for any new tanks.

i don't see the point of doing beyond +15 if you wanna push higher at this point you better do it with friends or guildies.

Damn I’m sorry it’s been so rough. I have found similar experiences with groups around 15 or 16 but when I was getting closer to +20s it eased up a ton. I think there’s so many people trying to get KSM or think they know everything around +15s that it’s kind of rough. I also found that playing with people that I liked or a guild helps a ton!! @@BleachRush rewards are now up to +20, so if you want max rewards you should aim for 20s

@@jesseg2282 you get the achievement at +15 20's reward ain't worth the hassle. Just bigger numbers and boring gameplay. I usually aim +15 and my main gameplay with heroic raids and call it a day.

@@BleachRush just bigger numbers yes you are right, but with that opinion you could stop at lvl 70 and call it done since numbers just go up and up since lvl1. boring gameplay? Well there is no diffrence in gameplay from raid, pvp or m+ except some talents and group size so if you find the gameplay boring its boring i any regards which leads to the question why even play if gameplay is boring? You arguments doesnt make much sense.

Nameplate addons too (as shown) to light green when tanked or other colors when not, makes starting out as a tank easy :) some can fade the colors as threat % rises and falls.

What's the name of the nameplate addon in the vid? I'm I'm a returned player, and I found it strange that there's no rage metre on Details like there was on Recount. I used it for tanking and DPS to make use I either had, or didn't grab, agro.

I have a big goal of getting KSM with my brewmaster while pugging.. but I do have some major tank anxiety. But I’m working low level keys atm. It’s kind of funny that your even getting snide comments of how easy or boring it is here too 😂😂

I genuinely just won't try and tank, I don't have friends in wow anymore and im in a guild but im very anti social and i also think if i played with them and fucked up id feel even worse and would get into my head that they hate me or think im a waste of time. Its easy too just say ignore the toxic ppl, some people can just ignore it but people with severe mental health issues can take it to heart, i mean for me i do, it makes me not wanna try nor play the game and view myself even more negative than i already think of myself. You did however give great advice, but i just cannot.

I understand. I’m sorry the community is so rough, and I do agree, wow has some of the most toxic players I’ve ever seen and I come call of Duty, Overwatch, and some other toxic FPS games haha. It’s totally okay to not tank too especially if you don’t feel comfortable doing it or have people you want to try it out with. Tanking isn’t for everyone and that’s perfectly okay! If everyone wanted to tank, we wouldn’t have any healers or dps hahaha. Thank you so much! I hope the community changes around and makes it easier for you to do what you want without worrying about if people hate you. I felt that way for a long time, still do at times. Sometimes it helps to remind the dps that “me tank, you follow.” If you feel like you can do better, wanna critique my route even though we still 2 chested the key, or give me trouble because I made a mistake, then leave. Dps is a dime a dozen. I’ll find someone else to fill your spot 😂

@@HosheezyMMO agreed. I tank at around the 20-21 lvl right now and I still get anxiety. Also at this level I feel like all roles are equally as hard since the content is a lot more challenging than S4 of shadowlands. Way more damage is needed to be done by DPS, while avoiding mechanics and using defensives, while the tanks pull big and the healers heal/DPS/purge/cc lmao. Nothing is "easy" even at the beginning of harder content it seems.
