Awesome video! Out of all the ideas you have, I think the one I like the most is the simple tree strap you tied for hanging your backpack higher (if desired). That is one thing I didn't care for about my D loop being on the side of the seat, is the backpack will tilt out so your openings are facing away from you, especially when letting it also rest on the foot part. I will more than likely adopt a rope like you have for hanging it to the tree! Thanks, and again great video!

I was able to swap around my straps and set my pack this way and holy cow ! This is how the stand should be set up from the get go. THANKS. Going this route I no longer have to use he bungee, flip the seat arms, or raise the platform arms. I bet it saves me 5 min + at the base of the tree. You sir, earned yourself a subscriber today. Hi shawn, i have used this exact stand since they first came out, Here's 1 of my tip for all viewers I have used that bungee cord to fish most stuff that i have drops to the ground after i finishing setup, just simply use ur bow rope and tie to the center of the bungee cord and lower down to hook whatever u may have drops, like jacket bow release and such.. btw u have a great channel

Great video Sean! I have the exact same stand. I really like how you keep it not packed all the way down and reversed the backpack straps. Really great idea! Never seen anyone do that before... I have the XL bands on mine to get in larger trees for better cover. .. a trick I learned is there is a bolt in the way on the bottom extruded aluminum channels that prevents the band going through where you can't use it on smaller trees. On the shorter bands the stand comes with it doesn't matter because the ends don't reach the bolts but on the XL bands it limits your tree size. What you can do is turn those bolts around and reverse them to the outside... then the band will go all the way through the channel and you still can fit the small trees as well as the larger now too!! Take care, Rob

nice catch Sean, I have reversed my straps on both my climber and my hang on lone wolf stands after seeing your vid. I don't hunt hills but I've taken more than one fall in the swampy areas I hunt. I never once thought about those teeth, but they do look like they could rip your scalp open pretty easy.

Great video. I've been humping around the alpha hand climber for 13 years with those standard straps and just lived with it myself. And although not very bad by itself, I plan to pack more gear along these days for more time in the woods, and this Molle strap upgrade is perfect. It just arrived today so now I'm definitely looking forward to getting after these late season Wisconsin whitetails. Great idea and tip, so thanks! Inverting the stand with teeth down while carrying is also a must. Great stuff. Thanks for the vids.

Hello Sean, Great video I just purchased the lone wolf sit and climb II. It is slightly different with the seat and it seems like it is going to be more difficult to secure without using an additional bungy cords. I hunted for over 18 years with a loggy and i looking forward to using a modern climber. I used every tip from this video to modify my lone wolf. Thanks again for the great video.

Sean love your videos and I've basically copied this setup.... With a couple minor changes. One you should consider for safety is the placement of the two black tether straps on the bottom portion of the climber. With them so far forward, as you have them, if the bottom stand gets away from you and decides to ratchet itself down the tree it'll catch because it's attached to the top climber. As intended. But in this case the bottom climber's forward most portion would be high, since that's where the straps are attached, and the grey tree strap and climber teeth would be stuck in a position that isn't engaged to the tree..... Basically the front of the stand as high as possible. I've had that happen before and basically I had to hang onto the top climber, hanging down at full body extension, and was able to get the bottom climber reengaged to the tree properly. I didn't even wait to get to the bottom of the tree to switch the strap placement on the bottom climber about as far back as possible towards the tree trunk. Even had a Muscat staring up at me like I was a moron. Haha. Hope it helps sir. Cheers and keep up the great videos.

Sean, Don't you think it would be better to hook your haul up line directly thru the top and bottom cam as to not compromise the string in any way. I have been doing it this way for over 35 years and find it works alot better. You have some great ideas that I have never thought of that I plan on implementing on my new XOP Air Raid stand and climbing sticks. Thanks for the info. As usual great video. God bless.
@seansoutdoors
@seansoutdoors 7 жыл бұрын
The clip on my hoist is to narrow to fit over a cam. I've had this hoist for 20 years and it has never hurt the string in the least way, but if I had a choice I would hook it to the cam. Glad you got some good ideas from the video. God bless you too.
@boundlessobsession6266
@boundlessobsession6266 7 жыл бұрын
Sean's Outdoor Adventures May I suggest you thread the clip thru the cam then attach it to the pull up line.(alternative) and there is no noise and no chance of damage. I once (in 35+ years) had my bow catch on a limb and did what you do. When I pulled hard to release it from the limb my string(strand) got abbraded and thats why I do it my way now. Hope it helps and once again great ideas and videos. Keep up the fantastic job Sean.
@seansoutdoors
@seansoutdoors 7 жыл бұрын
That won't work for this strap because it is so thick and wide and the clip is so narrow and shallow. The clip is definitely a poor design. It's lasted a long time though. I tried a different hoist a year or two ago but it was so noisy that I switched back to this one. It works fine for me, and I am typically in a climber so there are no branches below me, so I have never had any issues, but i will keep an eye out for branches. Thanks and God bless you.

I just ordered your book. I look forward to seeing how another doulos worships in the woods. Got a question for you. I have an xop sit and climb. Is it smart to take off the seat bar and use my forearms on the top half (like a hand climber)? Obviously, I will be tethered in. Have you tried it? Secondly, have you tried the primal tree steps? Any recommendations for a set of climbing sticks for a guy like me who wants quality, safety but is on a budget of max 125$ for a set? God bless ya man. Deuteronomy 32:3

I would fold the bar out of the way and try it before you take it off. As for steps..before the current owner of that company the previous owner of it asked me to review them and he le.t me a set asking for them back. I tried it on a tree and it ripped the bark up so badly that I would not use them on public land for fear of getting fined for damaging the tree. I told him he needed to make a rubber cleat to keep the metal from digging into the tree but he did not. I don't know if they ever made improvements but I wasn't a fan of them. That was about 7 or 8 years ago I think.

@seansoutdoors
@seansoutdoors 5 жыл бұрын
Well, I personally prefer a climber, but there are options. Depending on how much money you have to spend, there are some stands and sticks that are getting pretty light like the new Lone Wolf stuff. I personally like the climber, but a lot of the places I have hunted had plenty of trees you could get in a climber with. You should take a walk around the area where you will be hunting and see how the trees look for a climber. If there are not many good straight trees with no branches low, then you may need to do a hang on for that reason.

Thanks for checking out my videos. I appreciate it. I actually responded to your post years ago, but ALL of my replies were deleted when I transferred my channel to a branding account, www.seansoutdooradventures.com facebook.com/seansoutdoors/ instagram.com/seansoutdooradventures/ www.amazon.com/shop/seansoutdooradventures so I am going back through and replying to all old comments so they stop popping up in my unanswered post column on my KZbin studio. As you can see, I included some links to my social media stuff in case you are interested in checking any of it out. Thanks for your patience with this process. God bless you.

The back of the stand is more narrow so the footing isn’t as good in the stand but other than that it’s good

I want to see you climb with that little seat. You got a lot of good things up-dated, but that climbing seat is not one. My buddy had one ,and it was so tiring and no help in climbing the tree that he sent it back. That climbing seat is out dated for me. When Baker, the father of climbing stands came out with climbing stands he used a climbing seat that worked the same way, and boy was it tiring to use. As a bow hunter I would not use that seat climber. I still have the Old antique Baker seat climber. You need to update that seat climber.

Hey, thanks for the offer, but falls from using a climbing sticks and a tree step that broke, have left me unable to walk any distance. If it wasn't for that I would have taken you up on that hike. Hey you used the set just great. Better than I did when I used it's type. I have a light API climber. Both my API, and my Summit, is far better to hunt from for comfort, and safety. To each his ow. Thank you for your video.

The hand climber I had was with Baker climbers. You could hang from them, or lock elbows and pull your feet up, with the foot part hanging below, like what you do. I'll tell you, after falling that last time messing up both my knee's and my lower back. It has taken away my ability to walk and get back where the deer are. Those climbing stands I mentioned are good. But you are not safe just because you have those things in your possession but comes when you attach them before leaving the ground. I still can drag one out, but my encounters are 75 % lower now. Think safe, and good hunting.
