I think my favorite thing about watching Craftworld Eldar's videos is that no matter what, I learn something new. Even if its something I've seen talked about to death by other creators, I'll probably learn about some unique thing that only existed in 2nd edition like the wraith rule thats super cool to learn about. Keep it up!

I think an interesting use of battle focus would be to allow non vehicle units able to perform actions and still shoot and charge. Basically they are so refined after 1000's of year of experience they are able to multitask while still focusing on the battle!

@vojtadrasner2440Ай бұрын
In 9th vehicles could have been not included, because we also had fate dice - so we have to have something that affects vehicles. So, I think there will be two rules - either all will get one minor rule, and all units except for wraiths and falcon and bigger tanks get move-shoot-move. Or some get move-shoot-move and the rest gets a different rule. Additionally, they might use 2/4/6 addected units per turn, like what happened for example with Necron Hypercrypt. Additionally, this can be that Harlequins get entirely different army rule, even if they are in the same codex. ----------------------------------------------------------------- I think that fate detachment strategems will be pseudo-spell, like Marine grotsmas detachment - use it and cause x effect within 12'' of psyker model. If that model is Farseer, it does x and y effects instead. Also, Eldrad's ability can be written into the detachment rule like CSM detachment rule.

In 7th they could shoot and (currently named advance) run or (currently named advance) and shoot afterward. Also it was only craftworld eldar that could do that. Ill admit I became disenfranchised by the 9th ed dex that moved Avengers to elite choices, I was also not a fan of strands of fate. It seemed like a crutch when part of the eldar and ynnari that I've grown with was the crit mechanics. Then again we also had battle focus with the craftworld kin that could get the squad behind cover. For the new battle focus I'm expecting it to be only infantry and bikes, much like in 7th.
@stephensilverstein4855Ай бұрын
Agree with all your points. I suspect that it would be some version of the 9th ed battle focus. Basically that all non wraith units will get a d6 move after shooting if the unit did not advance. Cheers and always look forward to your videos.
@tomashogberg8514Ай бұрын
My guess and hope is for there to be an “all infantry gets assault and vehicles auto advance 6 inches” or something like that. Or a flat “Advance rolls of 1-2” always counts as 3 inches” across the board.
@iamfilam2513Ай бұрын
Maybe it’ll be like “a certain number of units (excluding wraiths or something) can move after shooting” and it’ll be like 1 for 1000pt, 2 for 2000pt, or 3 for 3000pt
@benkeeling8775Ай бұрын
That would be really interesting. But would probably also really encourage everyone to bring 3 fire prisms 😅. For that reason alone, I can see it being Infantry only shoot/scoot. I'm also going out on a limb to guess that the harlequin detachment rule is to charge after shooting and scooting.

The new vehicles detachment has let me to belief that we get faction ability where we somehow have a pool of ressources (think ritual points) that we can use on some combination of F&F, reation move, fall back and shoot/charge. I think this makes sense to free up design space in the detachments to make more interesting stuff. Since else the detachments with the best movement abilities will probably be the one to be picked. This will also make sense since fall back and shoot/charge could potentially be on infantry only. And now we see that the vehicles detachment has it on vehicles.

@stephensilverstein4855Ай бұрын
with you on this. Hoping that the detachment puts the focus on stats which have some effect + some extra effect for targeting 'psyker' keyworded units. Like a 6+++ on a unit or 5+++ on a psyker unit. so storm guardians would become 5++/5+++ when you have a warlock or farseer attached or something along those like.

Bikes and infantry should have it. Vehicles should get a "Vaul" ability that gives them +1 armor when they move or -1 to hit on certain vehicles

The problem is, all the points hikes and rule nerfs were made based on the presence of fate dice AND borderline the strongest detachment in the game. If we all of a sudden have a mediocre army rule, just making the detachments strong won’t be enough. They’d have to undo a whole slew of the points hikes as well and historically we haven’t seen massive points changes with codex drops. Hope I’m wrong, but if battle focus isn’t similar in power level to fate dice, I think we’re in trouble.

The more I think about it the more I think we're losing the Battle Host detachment. It's actually not on the list of detachments that'll be in the codex (the name they gave for the generalist one was "Warhost"), and to be honest I think it has to go because it's probably better than any other detachment. But also it's designed to work with strands of fate, especially after seeing the grotmas detachment (where I would have expected to see Fire and Fade since it's a big part of how we use tanks), my prediction is that there won't be mobility stratagems in any detachment and all our out of phase movement will come from battle focus.
@maverick1191Ай бұрын
I think they mentioned there will be a "generalistic warhost Detachment" in the video but it will for sure not be as good as it is now. Probably hit OR wound reroll and then some nerfs to strats/enhancements

If battle focus allows eldar to move D6 after shooting, that would fix any and all issues that make the current eldar not feel like eldar at all current eldar feel like some kind of inferior space marines with slightly higher movement, that can magically trick the dice to make sure they deal massive damage or become invulnerable. which obviously doesn't feel eldary at all, the entire old school theme of the eldar was that they are fragile, but super evasive, to a point that fighting them is like fighting ghosts. I don't see ghosts standing still and taking tank shosts like its nothing because they used a fate dice on the invulnerability save lmao. If anything, that dice trick feels more like something that befits tzeentch, as he actively changes fates. That new battlefocus would indirectly also justify the skill of eldar being theoretically able to best space marines without taking casualties, as the origional lore indicated. With eldar being themed around the Predator from the predator movie.
@maverick1191Ай бұрын
Depends a lot on the regulations that are added (or get added after nerfs). In 9th it was not for vehicles and wraiths and the avatars iirc. You had to deduct 3" from the roll when u interacted with terrain and so on. Compared to the reroll we got now it was hot garbage.

I agree with the sentiment that there should be multiple ways to play a faction. I'm not a huge fan of "metas" and running into the same kind of lists again and again. Don't get me wrong - every army has it's staples and frankly that makes sense. The space marines wouldn't go to war without well blocks of space marines. But when tournament lists begin to look very similar with a few differences it kind of takes some of the fun and creativity out of the game. Building lists and thinking of unique ways to run an army is fun. Being pigeon holed into playing one way feels very boring and non-strategic. I hope, as you say, that the faction rule isn't overly powerful and waters down our detachment rules.

Late. Move to shoot, shoot to move😂. I hope that jetbikes, jump infantry and vypers (light vehicle units) get the battle focus ability like a return to the pop up attack of old. Infantry units with a 3+ save or heavy weapons should not have a move, shoot, move ability as that would be over powerfull and stratagems should be used to move vehicles into cover or to block lines of sight after shooting.

Hello 🙂.

9th edition battle focus wasnt that great in my experience. It was hindered by moving through terrain by 3". This edition is very heavy terrain dependent and -3" on a D6" extra move makes it NOT reliable for getting units to move in and out of walls/terrain.
