wow Pat ll restoration, five years on a rebuild wow all volunteers that's cool.. That sure is a beautiful boat. They choose a good way to rebuilt that boat, she will last for a long time, way beyond my life cycle. That's for sure. I watched the flip over maan I would've tried to do a much more controlled lift than that, that looked crazy..I use to be a welder fitter, we use to flip massive size fabricated builds but we had to gantry cranes that we would use all at once.

I'm looking forward to riding in it this summer.

Wonderful interview at the location of the Pat II rebuild. Such an improvement too. Proud to be a part of it through the Go Fund Me project and building and donating two models of the boat as well. An honor really.

Learned a lot there, interesting to see someone who approaches boat restoration from a math point of view. No flying by the seat of your pants for him!

Great video Scott! Thanks for taking the time to tell the story of the Pat II restoration.

I'm glad you enjoyed it. It was a lot of fun visiting FLBM and meeting so many people who love old boats. I will be seeing you guys this summer. I hope to bring the Chris Craft to Keuka Lake for a few days in July or August.

Absolutely amazing to see the passion at work! Inspiring and thank you for sharing. Here I am fretting over keeping an old 40 yr old boat alive....and it’s fiberglass! Thank you!

It' not as much what boat you work on, it's how much you enjoy the process!

Sweet. The elco electric setup seems like the way to go!

The Pat II will be moved from the shop to its trailer on 7 April. The move will entail the use of two cranes to do the heavy lifting.

Is the motor in yet? If not, will that happen before moving from shop or after? Thanks for the update!

Was that originally an Uncle Sam boat?
@glassgoat96012 жыл бұрын
Not sure if it was ever Uncle Sam, but it was a tour boat in the 1000 Islands.

@@glassgoat9601 Several tour boat companies used boats like this besides Uncle Sam, Paul Boat lines and one from Brockville. I grew up riding these boats. I remember when the Coast Guard would no longer let them use gas powered engines and they had to power them all with diesels.

you should price out electric for your boat Scott. Elon Musk would approve
@glassgoat96014 жыл бұрын
Not for this boat but yes for the Elco. The Chris Craft needs too much horsepower to be useful for my needs with electric unless I spent a fortune, especially since I have a viable gas engine already. Just not the right boat for it, at least the way the technology is currently.
@paulbriggs307210 ай бұрын
Why did they not put in a simple, inexpensive 3 liter 4 cylinder gas engine of 135 hp? A remanufactured engine could go for as little as $3000. Even an expensive brand new one costs $9000 versus the OUTRAGEOUS $31,500 for this overblown electric toy motor of a paltry 40 horsepower and batteries that will not last too many years. There is no advantage at all with using electricity for boats. Water is a thick medium and requires constant hard thrust with no coasting like a car. There is no regenerative braking to recover electricity either. For the money difference you could buy an old Pen Yann Viking and restore that as well. Folly.

While I agree that electric power is not viable in most marine situations with the current technology, they are happy with it in that boat. I took a hard look at the possibility of converting one of my boats to electric but the downsides vastly outweighed the upside for me. I did like the idea of less maintenance, especially oil changes, impellers, etc. Also winterization in my area. It would be nice to be able to talk with passengers in the rear of a 25’ utility while captaining as well. Noise is why I modified the seating in my Chris Craft.
