I’ve been using that Dacron sheet in lighter weight versions on RC aircraft for years. Never thought of using it for a fiberglass substitute

An interesting process for sure. I'm anxious to experience it. Maybe I'l join Andy & Markon one of theirs?

Very interesting process and a beautiful piece. I’m all for preservation, but actually using and enjoying Is my end goal. It takes me back to simpler times.

I am a fan of being introduced to options, a lot of them, and then finding my own way. I am finding that rowing is much more enjoyable than I ever imagined!

A Go-Pro case! That opens up a whole new world of new marketing possibilities! Fascinating video too.

Am looking forward to seeing you use this process on your builds Scott, it doesn't sound much different from fiberglass process however this process sounds more interesting and great for a wooden boat

Considering using it only below the water line on the skiff because of wear and tear. That area is pretty smooth at the strake transitions. Above the waterline would still be traditional, best of both worlds! Thanks for watching and being aboard the WBE!

That was a very interesting episode, wow, who knew? Airplane stuff for boats, looks so sleek and just gorgeous!

It's amazing how much is happening and at what level in so many little garages and barns not that far from my place.

Oh, and your build is wonderful, love those oars! I see Speckles bowed down to the skills of the builder!

Restoration/modification throws up interesting conversations in many craft areas Scott. It’s a good one to wrestle with. Have a great weekend. Ps. Great to see you with Steve and Alix.

I have fun every time I go to Acorn to Arabella. I'm glad I reconnected with Andy Derby, he has been good for my thinking and knowledge of boats.

Stay with the tried and true epoxy - fiberglass process. His process requires to much labor along with the fact that you can't wrap around a radius or the edge of the transom. If the Dacron used with epoxy was so good, your major fiberglass companies and dealers would be selling it. All those coats of epoxy sitting on top of the Dacron is a terrible system.

He's not saying it is the answer to all things, or even most, but I've seen the results and there are some boats done this way that are twenty some years old and doing fine. Following the major companies probably means that fiberglass is the best way to make money, not necessarily the best way to create a boat. Apples to oranges anyway, he's saving a boat that would be burned, not creating a Bayliner. Not sure how you call something you've never seen a terrible system.
