I am a pre-donor (2010) for the Forensic Anthropology Center Texas State (FACTS San Marcos, Texas 78666 and FaceBook). I have taken up residence in San Marcos to be within the pick up area. My sister followed my example by signing up. She passed at the end of April (2022) in California. I was her next-of-kin interface with FACTS. I now say my sister is “living” and working a few miles from where I live. Given the state of my health, I expect a number of years to pass before I become her colleague.

Bruce E Grimes: fair play to ya man, it's brilliant to think your sister (r.i.p.) is still contributing to society after she passed. I like your sense of humour too, although a bit morbid. Cheap funeral too. I'm dying to get into a place like that but unfortunately i live in conservative old Ireland. There'ld be hail marys and flagulation to beat the band if we done that here. I wonder could you, or your relatives, get paid for this service. Even minimum wage, thats 168 hrs per week. Good bless ya Bruce😁

@@eamontrolleybus1289 Fair play to you also! I just arrived home from Christmas choir rehearsal and have a routine to follow. Look for an entertaining reply soon. By way introduction, a quick travel note. 1981, I arrived in Dublin by ferry with a bicycle, proceeded to Tipperary, Blarney, Lismore (met Darvla Murphy), Waterford, and departed on the south ferry.

@@eamontrolleybus1289 “¿Getting in? You would be most welcome as an outlier. The curated skeletons collection has a majority of specimens who lived and died less than 160km from the Center. If you weigh less than 300 pounds and are not infected with a communicable disease, the impediment is transportation costs to Austin, Texas, USA. A recent news article mentions transporting a body from South Korea to Thailand. ¿Getting paid? The Uniform Anatomical Gifts Act controls getting paid. ¿Morbid humour? ¿Do you know the channel: Ask a Mortician? ¿Old Ireland & my music? ¿Do you know the channel: Threelegsoman?

What an excellent idea! I’m amazed by this. It gives me weird comfort in a way. Not just because I’d be helping out from beyond the grave, but because my big death fear has to do with being alone, in the dark, and it’s silent and the only thing that gives me solace is knowing that life still bustles on, and so the idea of being part of an initiative like this, around so much passion and excitement from scientists, while being observed and part of something, it does make it a little less scary. And knowing that these people are genuinely grateful, and scientists are all too aware that this will happen to them some day too. It just reminds me to be humble about death and like these guys, to be respectful, because each dead person was once a human being, and they’re not somehow beneath us (well they are! Haha excuse the pun 😂❤) because they are in a different form both body and soul, they are a part of us, they are and always will be a precious part of our universe and our future in ways we can’t even begin to understand, and their souls will return home, leaving not just a body, but footprints on our hearts and minds, and on the earth. This is a great way of honouring the cycle of life and death, and showing that death is quite literally an illusion, because energy never dies. And everything is cyclical in nature, so it would make sense that the cycle would continue beyond death. Which again gives me hope ❤🥹💀

Is there anywhere that they observe decaying bodies in a home environment? Nice the have these outdoors body farms, however, most people die indoors. We need that research. It seems when it comes to the environment where most people are found decomposing the final answers for time since death is...there are many variables and more research needs to be done. Seems they do not really know the answer for time since death based on decomposition/decay in homes.

I'm glad I will help science if I pray they except me. I have struggled w life and death my whole life. Now that I understand I am no longer scared of death. But I could never be buried. I think cremation is the fire of hell. The old days are gone so you can't just throw me in the ground. I am filled shame that even if I could donate body parts I wouldn't. ( I'll need them when I come back.) Everyone is do worried about how we treat this earth. In my heart of hearts I've always known I have to go back to the earth. So body farm. I get to help I hey yo stay in one piece...The most important to me. I get to go back to the earth where I know I belong.

I don't know if he is God. But there is something out there that we are all part of. The only thing I truly know is we never (die.) I remember being very small and I don't know how the thought came to me. But I knew he was there. I don't remember going to any church or anyone telling me. Just one day it was there. I can remember being born. But mu mother says I couldn't. Moms always right. But I know what I know. The secret of life, the reason we are here. God and all out beliefs. True or not does not matter. Until they day comes when there is true total peace. And each other and what we need to survive then and only then will we know God.
