Franklin County leads state in fatal motorcycle crashes

Last year, there were 230 fatal motorcycle crashes in Ohio. Of those, 25 were in Franklin County, according to the Ohio State Highway Patrol.

Engine breaking was mentioned at about 3.5 min into the video. It is a horrible idea on gasoline powered internal combustion engines. It is a good idea only on big diesel truck engines. The reason is simple; on diesel engines compression breaking works because the piston is coming up on the compression stroke, and just before compression detonation (about 19 to 1) the fuel is shut off and the compression dumped. The top of the piston is designed to withstand the forces of explosive ignition. Compression dumping on the diesel engine never pulls a vacuum the way it does on a gas engine, which uses the intake stroke to slow the crankshaft. This causes the top of the piston to be subjected to forces that try and pull the top of the piston off (exactly the opposite of how it is designed to work).
