Richard Street was my cousin. He was beloved by us all. His first wife was Caldin Gill-Street. She was the lead singer for the Velvelettes. Just wanted to let you know, this was a really nice documentary on Richard. Thank you for recognizing his body of work, and his part of the legacy.

I'll never forget how much Richards character was present in the Temptations movie. The actor was a familiar face and the way he was portrayed made it easy to love him. As a kid I remember being at Hitsville with my family. I was staring a picture of the Temptations during the Street era when an employee approached me. He learned how big of a fan I was so he wanted to tell me more about the picture. He asked, "Have you seen the movie?" and then "Do you remember when they sung Just my Imagination?" he then pointed at the Richard in the picture and asked "Remember the guy that came in during the transition?" and I replied "Yup, that's Richard Street!!" He looked at me amazed, I guess he didn't think I knew because I was so young but nah I knew! From that moment on Mr. Street held a special place in my heart, I could never forget him. Love to @WBPTV @Cheryl Mainor and the Hitsville employee that took the time to speak to me that day!

@munimathbypeterfelton62513 жыл бұрын
@@kenardgreene7083 Otis treats The Temptations like a business with the other four guys in the group being like his employees whom he can treat like dirt and fire entirely at-will. I wonder if any former member of the group, living or deceased, ever tried to go over Otis's head to group manager Shelley Burger or even Berry Gordy himself and asked them, "Do you want me fired?" I mean, no other Motown group ever had a leading group member who could willingly let their bandmates go like that due to personality clashes. The only exception was Diana Ross and her less-than-secret love affair with her boss, Berry Gordy, and their alleged joint desire to let Florence Ballard go from The Supremes in 1967.

Great video. And I totally agree that Richard was the most underrated Temptation. Richard should have been inducted into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame with the Classic Five lineup and Dennis Edwards, since he was with the group through thick and thin before and after they became successful. Plus, Otis did Richard so dirty over Richard’s emergency kidney stone removal and him needing to miss that one gig spur-of-the moment. Melvin was the only Temptation who Otis cared about in the slightest. As much as Otis was the stability of The Temptations, he was also the cancer to the group. It’s good that Richard wrote his book Ball of Confusion about his life with The Temptations so that the world could get a better idea of what the group (especially Otis) was like through the eyes of another longtime member. May Richard Rest In Peace right alongside all the other former Temptations.

In the mini series Otis is pictured as the back bone .only thing he did wong was cheat on his wife . everyone else had issues .it was made like he came up with being fined for things that u didn't do to keep the group together it was Paul . I wanted to see the play but it is still telling Otis version through his eye as well as the manager. No one else is around to to dispute anything. I've seen him in interviews contradicting himself . He says nobody do anything to Paul to make him be that way but it does not mention that Paul was sick and while he was ill but not interview he claims that all them with depressed around the time of that last song Eddie sang with the group just my imagination I like to know why everybody was depressed He didn't go into that he jumped to something else I'm going to be a conspiracy theorist but something just don't seem right with this people dying all around him and he still standing. Knowing the music and just see at that time when Paul allegedly shot itself nothing to say about that I believe it was a hit out on him and everybody became hush hush motel might have paid the people off it was something fishy about his murder. Otis the only one says oh he talked about ending his life months prior before his death . Otis has money coming out his toes get getting cash everytime he opens his mouth. Every member died some of cancer.

Once you read the book you will understand how things looked from the inside of the temptations. All the members of the group except Otis Miles, AKA Williams was great and brought something to group. Otis had a hidden agenda from the very beginning of his career. He destroyed each member from within, please do your research. I personally have spent years with Dave English AKA Melvin Franklin, Known as his little brother (Not real brother) but my mentor. As a leader Otis did not take care of his people. My question has always been what would have happen to Paul, Eddie, David, Edwards, Al, Street, etc, and it still is going on with today's members. Otis brought what to the group?

Power is a great song. However, I've heard another reason why it failed and I believe their was something else as well. From what I understand, there was an electric company in Florida called Power that had some kind of scandal or huge problem with their services and alot of people complained about them. In addition, I also personally believe it was the timing of that release. Power is a disco song with an R and B and funk feel to it. The disco era was coming to an end as hip hop was slowly but surely emerging. Had that song been done anywhere from 77' to 79', I'm pretty sure it would've been another BIG hit for the group.
