Completely agree, most people underestimate how important breaking structure of your opponent is. The flashy punches will not land if the structure is not controlled, agree with sometimes using the thumb for quick pulls to offbalance the opponents. Great insights as always.

Use your structure to uproot/destroy your opponents; thus shutting down his entire attack routine. I am taught that every WC technique should do this.

Great vid! Appreciate you sharing 🙏 I am not too big fan of active lap sao's in general as the wrist is bent in order to grab , elbow is forced out etc, but I guess the thumb gives you abit more grip that will affect the opponents structure so much he wont recover? I heard the same argument about not grabbing with thumb to avoid beaking it. In our school I was taught that we shouldn't grab with thumb if you wish to strike after the lap sao, as the thumb hooks the arm preventing you from punching. It doesn't make sense that anyone will break your thumb. Its way to fast to do any tricks like that. Also our lap is usually done diagonally forward like a gum/soh sao to prevent the guy from charging in and raising/screwing his bong forward. I will test your version to see if I can pull it of 😊

Yeah, the wrist break doesn't really work if you don't first grab the hand on your wrist to keep it from moving. It's a common Qin Na technique that hurts like all get out if you succeed (especially when you put pressure on that thumb like a lever), but I don't know if I've met more than a few people that could pull it off in this context. Also, since it's unlikely to work very often I wouldn't want to engage both my hands and leave my opponent with a completely free arm. I say it's best to know both, but be clear on why :)

What about pulling myself behind the opponent or into the position I want him to be by using lapsao with a step? Joerg from Germany

is there a name for that two handed move? I reminds me of the asking hands. I am slow and don't have your hand speed. if they have not done sensitivity training, that two handed move you did not name looks very appealing to me. thanks for the wonderful videos.

master adam chan i decided to change shaolin kung fu for wing chun kung fu because its the strongest most direct kung fu styles also its good and effective for self defense and fighting one other thing wing chun vs sanda which wins which is better

I see your coments on every video, I'm practicing Wing Chun and I tell you, whatever style or system you choose is fine, just train a lot, learn the basics, learn how to apply every hand and every technique, practice footwork it's very important, ultimately it's not the art, it's about yourself, how you train is what makes you good or bad in martial arts
@gerardocovarrubias11274 жыл бұрын
@@fernandonunez9689 i know that is just that wing chun is used more than every kung fu style because its good and effective for self defence and fighting and its used by yip man,bruce lee,and many others

@@fernandonunez9689 also sanda is a mix of shaolin kung fu,wushu and many other stuff and it's the first kickboxing style and military martial art
@fernandonunez96894 жыл бұрын
@@gerardocovarrubias1127 yes but if you want to practice whatever style, it's about you, no the art or Yip Man or Bruce Lee, you aren't they, you just have to train a lot to become good at your art, that's it. Don't expect for the approval of any sifu, you must choose your path and decide for yourself. Wing Chun have good principles, if you train correctly you will be good at it

I was always taught that your elbow shouldnt be out and your lower arm shouldnt be horizontal. Pulling this way makes it easy for your opponent to take advantage of your grab but also makes you pull the opponent towards yourself. So imagine doing a gaan sao you want to pull in that direction, somewhere next to your side this will really offbalance your opponent and make him take a step and turn so his other arm is useless.

Agreed. Unless we are using the lever of Bong Sao or Lan Sao etc. The most connected and stable postion [when squared] is elbow down.
