The copy is not the best, but the match is very good.

Regardless of what happens in the future. Ronnie and Stephen will aways be the 2 very best level players to ever grasp a cue

Probably the best match anyone had ever seen in snooker up until that point, certainly in terms of quality and sustained scoring.

I've seen him play so many times it's unusual to be surprised but Ronnie's 135 in the 11th frame was miraculous. One of the best breaks I've ever seen just for the flair of it.

2:39 Wow, they said Stephen Hendry invented shots, that's very good 🙂

Hendry was that great he actually invented a shot in snooker potting the blue & hitting the pink full in the face with screw to open the pack & leave the cue ball in the centre of the table

@RickTheRedBrick Alex Higgins also - not a Hendry invention as Willie Thorne and other commentators put it

Higgins contribution to snooker has been forgotten.

Hendry didn’t invent it, he just popularised it. However it’s started to go a little out of fashion again as the better players (like Ronnie) prefer to pick away at balls, relying on good cue ball control. That means if they miss they aren’t leaving on perfectly placed reds for an opponent’s clear up.

I can't think of another sport that hd television has improved more than snooker. Much more enjoyable to watch when you can see the colors

Funny to think before this championship people were calling Hendry a spent force. Ironically he was still a strong contender to win the Worlds up until 05.

Hendry was having a shocker by his standards in 1999 until he got to the crucible when he entered GOD mode.
@Asshole883 ай бұрын
He talks about it in his books. He ended up calling Frank Callen for help and explained how he got back to his best by hooking up with the coach who was with him through his best years. If only Frank didn't retire, I think Hendry would have won so much more if he didn't. He was his best when with him.

Did you hear what he said at the beginning with the intro about Hendry? "As surely no one will ever achieve the success of the greatest player this game has ever produced." Little did he know that the guy already sitting in front of him was the player to break or equal all of Hendry's records!

Shame that these 2 never contested a crucible final

Can anybody point me in the direction of this incident?: "O'Sullivan admitted that he didn't "give a monkey's" whether he managed to defend his title successfully but was desperate to beat Hendry, claiming he lost all respect for the Scot when he accused O'Sullivan of a deliberate miss when they last met at the Crucible." " "I played him in the semi-finals a couple of years ago and we had this miss rule," explained O'Sullivan." " "You know when a certain player has made a genuine attempt and a miss was called against me. I really thought a lot of Stephen until he had that ball put back, and he really did go down in my estimations after that. There is not a lot of respect there at all." "

I was just thinking he was in the room the moment it was said.
@rsb83804 ай бұрын
It’s really weird to hear that. It makes me realise how jarring and quite sad it must be for him to be in the same room as Ronnie and hearing him before every match introduced as the greatest player of all time. Like, “that used to be me”, even while playing Ronnie.
