Nathan love is much more deeper and authentic, protective of E and lil Jack. Back promo podcast Kevin mentioned he had heartache or heartbreak but not abt "a woman" i think he refers to him being suspended ..and ended Jack being called to replace him and got killed. Somehow he felt responsible? That guilt he carried into not being so afront with E, reserved and always just says right thing in few words! He fell in love with E got rhe courage to tell her so...triangle or wooing by L & E is more of writer's twist...drovesome fans upset... Elizabeth is gonna eventually know where her heart belongs, maybe we will see but more drama but forgiveness and love is coming...Lucas & Christopher may still have secret yet...but L will not necessarily leave HV. Next episodes will be more about relationships in HV and hopefully E & N starting a courtship....😉🙃🙃🥰

"It was never the right time to tell you!" Nathan didn't choose Jack to replace him, govern his actions on the mission or cause the mudslide but it is still Imo the worst thing the writers could have done! I don't see how they can ever get some to accept the "new" mountie after this. I believe Nathan is honorable and came to Hope Valley to look after Jack's family ...he just didn't expect to love them and then couldn't find a way to tell Elizabeth!

@thelittlescenes11853 жыл бұрын
Yes, he did probably come to hv to take care of her- he mustn’t have known about baby Jack yet. That’s a great thing to do- it’s like fate bringing them to each other. Elizabeth will realize that it’s not Nathan’s fault and that even though he could’ve run away, he decided to stay and protect her. She’ll realize that he is just as hurt as she is. He feels responsible for a colleagues death- what a weight to carry. Who’s gonna take that off him? It’s gonna be Liz
@pamn99543 жыл бұрын
There might be more, Jack may have told Nathan to go and watch over them( take care of them) if he doesn't make it back and doesn't want to tell her about it because he wants her to love him and not because of Jack said it. We will never know unless he said it happened.
@thelittlescenes11853 жыл бұрын
@@pamn9954 I believe we can say that Jack didn’t tell Nathan anything and that Nathan did indeed tell the truth when he said they never met (that was one of our big concerns about this reveal). I think this is definitely some sort of unspoken Mountie code though- that they look out for the wives and children their fellow men left behind. Right? Nathan wanted to redeem himself and went to HV. But he didn’t expect to fall for her. And I think that’s what’s gonna make Elizabeth “forgive” him (though he isn’t at fault): that he only came to HV to make up for Jacks death, out of accountability because that could’ve been him. The situation could’ve been reversed and he would want someone to look out for Allie

Great analysis! This is so painful for both Nathan and Elizabeth. It's clear that Nathan has been carrying the weight of this secret for a long time and certainly never expected to fall in love with Jack Thornton's widow. He's tried to rein in his feelings and not show her how he feels and that's been hard on him too. Elizabeth is in such a heightened emotional state right now with the romantic gestures coming from Lucas, her concern for Allie and her feelings for Nathan, and when she learns the secret, it's overwhelming to process. I thought the scene was played brilliantly! Kevin and Erin are incredible together and do such an awesome job of communicating emotion with every part of their body in addition to their words.

Nathan is a man of few words and has opened up more to Elizabeth than anyone! He has seen the pain she feels over the loss of Jack.....how do you tell someone you are indirectly and partially to blame for their loss especially when you care for them....you don't want to cause them more pain! It's all three she is upset about!

You’re right, I don’t think he’s to blame at all but that’s what she’s thinking right now and she has to process all of this. She also has to have some conversations about this with him to understand his choices better. It’s gonna be an interesting few episodes to come

@singingal173 жыл бұрын
In essence, it could be all three reasons at the same time. It is a HUGE bombshell that got dropped on her and she doesn't know how to process it. She feels that Jack might still be alive and well if he hadn't replaced Nathan. She feels betrayed that Nathan kept this from her for so long, and no matter the team, she does have feelings for Nathan that she is obviously confused by. With this revelation, its going to be that much harder to come to terms with Nathan. On the other hand, poor Nathan! He has intense feelings for this woman, and all along, he has carried this secret that could undoubtedly push her away for good and the guilt is so heavy on his shoulders that he feels responsible for Jack's death. Yes, telling her was the right thing to do, but it must have been so hard on him to do so. Truth is never easy in moments like these, but it had to be said. I just hope this doesn't drive a wedge between them for very long. Yes, I am team Nathan. Lucas is a good man, but my heart will always belong to the red surge.

Does anyone remember that Christmas Episode? That was what sealed the deal for me for Nathan and Elizabeth. She storms into his office demanding to know when he was going to tell her he was leaving. He proceeds to tell her it's a promotion and there's nothing really holding them back. She gets so upset with him and in that moment it's clear where her feelings are because a friend would have been happy for him. But she uses Ally as an excuse and how she made friends, and then finally mentions HIS FRIENDS too. Clearly, meaning her. And, then she storms off with an angry, "Congratulations," ... like I get being upset a friend is leaving but there was so much then being upset a friends leaving. She could have been happy he got a promotion. In fact, former friends with promotions and leaving she never got quite this angry. She was actually angry at him for leaving, and considering leaving. That honestly sealed my mind that she has feelings for Nathan. And they consistently have these unhinged, raw emotions, Elizabeth consistently demands answers, puts herself into Nathan's life, and I think she's so easily upset with him for reasons outside of the secrets. She's scared of how she feels. But, she can't control how she feels either. This wasn't the first time she got upset with him and got snippity. Like Poor Nathan. xD

I know a lot of people were stressed about this scene, but it told so much. It showed why Nathan was so hesitant to get close to her. She realized that at that moment too as he even expressed, "Show how I feel,". She demanded answers from him which shows how much she cares. There was so much raw emotion and passion in this scene. She again mentioned being afraid of being with him and now for the sake of Allie. She has many fears with him. She has to face those. But her inhinged emotions, the way they talk, there's a burning fire, a passion... and it's all about to explode. She now knows why he was hesitant. She's tried so hard to get him to open up, to even ask her out... but then she got afraid too, just like him.

After watching this, I have to wonder if Nathan was forced to take the post in Hope Valley as punishment by the commander who was out to get him. Imagine how difficult it must have been for him to see how much everyone loved and missed Jack, especially Elizabeth, knowing that his actions contributed to his death. It would explain why Nathan seemed so distant when he first came to town. I really feel for him and don't blame him for wanting to keep his secret from not only Elizabeth but the whole town. I hope that bringing it out into the open will allow him to get help (Joseph maybe?) I also think that once Elizabeth processes everything, she will forgive him and they can both heal from Jack's death.

If When calls the heart doesn't go down the Nathan and Elizabeth path they'd be missing out on an incredible untold story of love, forgiveness, and chance. Jack died so Nathan could live. Nathan who is the only adult in Allie's life. A love story about a woman who has to come to terms with the fact that she loved Jack so much, but possibly Jack's death led her to the next great love of her life. It's heartbreaking. It's hard to fathom, But, my god what a beautiful story to be told. What emotions, strength, and growth Elizabeth would have to overcome to realize that she loves them both. Loved Jack. Loves Nathan. And if Jack didn't die, Nathan probably would have. And we already know how she can't handle the idea of Nathan dying too. It's almost like fate. Or destiny. I don't know. But, it'd be beautiful. And heartbreaking. And healing. And something not seen in Television. Also, kind of getting annoyed at Lucas fans who keep saying, "I'd never be able to be with the man that should have died instead of my former Husband..." like wtf. It wasn't Nathan's fault. If anything it was almost like fate. It's horrible Jack died, but Jack died so Nathan could live. So Allie had a father. And maybe, so Elizabeth and Nathan can have a family with a remembrance of Jack. They can keep Jack's memory alive for Little Jack. There's so much to be explored and it'd be a shame to see it go to waste. And, I can't stand the mentality of, "ID NEVER FORGIVE." there's NOTHING to FORGIVE. It isn't Nathan's fault. I think Elizabeth having to go through that entire, "If it wasn't Jack, it'd be Nathan" is such an interesting storyline, and realization, and honestly... man. They're missing out on a great lovestory, and plot if they just go with the romantic boy that's easy to "love," except I don't think she loves Lucas. I think he's stable. I think he's fun. I think he's attractive. But what a boring storyline COMPARED to what this all could become.
@thelittlescenes11853 жыл бұрын
Beautifully said. It would really be a one-of-a-kind story, especially for a series and also considering the storyline that Elizabeth thought she was ready to move on but as Minnie said, Jack's death is still fresh, she still has to process. The only thing she really has to forgive is a friend holding back something from her for such a long time. I don't even think we should go down the hole of if Jack didn't, Nathan would've- we can't for sure say that it works that way. "What if" the landslide wouldn't have happened if Nathan went but something else would've killed Jack and Elizabeth would've been left completely alone without a Nathan to be there for her...that's also a possibility. There are so many. Also, yes, Lucas is attractive and much more fun than Nathan (so far). But I think Nathan is the stable guy out of the two, you know? Lucas fled when Elizabeth hugged Nathan (without telling her), he insulted her !out of the blue! when HIS mother made her promise not to tell him her secret and he just doesn't really SEE her the way she is. Lucas sees what HE wants to have with a woman. Not necessarily with Elizabeth. Nathan, in my eyes, just sees Elizabeth for who she is- and he likes her just like that. He's reliable and I often say: He's always available for her, which is very important in order to have a relationship. I 100% agree that this story just NEEDS to be told. It is now a story of redemption and a story of taking a chance (like Rachel said). It's a story of not carrying the ghosts of the past into the present moment: once you face the ghost, you'll realize that it's not there to hold you back. It's just trying to protect you from getting hurt and you have to re-evaluate and ask yourself "Is this person worth the possibility of more pain?". Loving someone always comes with the risk of losing them too soon.

You said it so well!!! I absolutely agree. What a beautiful Story. This clarifies so much about Nathan. I just hope they have written the rest of the season so that he will be more honest now that the biggest secret is out and he’s about to lose Elizabeth... about what he was disciplined about and why he didn’t always tell her the whole truth I.e. that the man who came to HV was alley’s dad.
@hildawheeler25983 жыл бұрын
I think it’s all three. I also think superintendent Hargreaves blamed Nathan too because he really wanted to find a reason to discipline him further but realized when Allie spoke at the hearing that Nathan is really not to blame. If anything Hargreaves seems to feel responsible as he was the one who disciplined Nathan (it seemed to be implied that another commanding officer would not have suspended Nathan for following his instincts and arresting the men he was tracking instead of letting them go) and now Hargreaves blames himself for Jackie’s death and tried to take it out on Nathan. I hope that made sense. I think in time Elizabeth will understand that all of these things were out of Nathan’s control and that Jack very well might have made the same choice as Nathan to arrest those men. I don’t think Nathan came to HV on purpose, I think he was assigned there and it’s obvious that he had an attraction to Elizabeth before he knew who she was if you rewatch the scene where they met. I think Lucas having a little temper tantrum over the art work he was trying to buy his parents only shows his true colours. He has said before that he doesn’t accept things easily so I would be interested to see his reaction the first time little Jack gives him a hard time. Lucas has never really talked to Elizabeth about anything of a serious nature (I find he usually interrupts her, answers for her or talks around the issue) so the question we saw him asking in the preview should be an interesting scene, especially if he lets her actually answer. I’m with everyone who says they are ready for this triangle to be over.

I really don't like the length of this triangle it's not wcth worthy. I believe that Nathan's guilt has like paralyzed his ability to express himself. He was so conscious of the pain of Jack's loss to Elizabeth that he came to HV to watch out for her. Maybe from a distance, he probably felt he owed E and Jack that. He didn't think he would be in close contact with her as Allys teacher and things changed. He knew if she knew that it would b complicated and he kept as distant as possible. But the heart wants what the heart wants; he could have left, he didn't. Every thing must come to the surface so they can heal. They are both hurting from the same thing. I think B or C or something close to one of those. I don’t think is Nathan’s fault Jack die because Jack did the same thing with Dough and Dough’s mother didn’t blame Jack for her son’s death. I also don’t think that Elizabeth will blame Nathan for Jack’s death if she does, then something is really wrong with her. So I think Elizabeth is going to be hurt by this the fact that Nathan didn’t tell her sooner about what really happen in Fort Clay But I do hope that the reason Nathan took the Hope Valley spot was because of Jack’s wife who he gotten to know now, to look after them, take care of, just because Jack took the assignment he was supposed to take. Elizabeth & Nathan Endgame OTP ❤️

Once she calms down, I think she will go to Nathan and tell him not to blame himself--that she doesn't. I hope she shares the story of Jack's good friend Doug with him. I think that will open the door for him to tell her why he held back on asking her out (because of guilt feelings), and that they finally get closer.
@thelittlescenes11853 жыл бұрын
Agreed, Elizabeth won’t blame him for Jacks death, he’ll just have to accept that she’ll need time to process and that he shouldn’t have kept this secret for so long. But now- all the walls have crumbled !

I enjoy reading the comments. Some are right on and others judgmental. We are all so different but none of us are perfect. I have the gift of mercy and I am so.glad because I need grace many times. I want to treat people the way I want to be treated. I want to give people the benefit of the doubt. I want to say I am wrong when I'm wrong. I want to forgive and to see the best in people. I think that is why I love Hope Valley. I see those things in the characters there. That's what makes WCTH so special. And that's why I have not liked Season 8 because it has been more of a soap opera. It has been hard for me to see the goodness in others, especially Elizabeth, because she is hurting Nathan. And at the end of the day, either Lucas or Nathan will be hurt. I just think the writers can do better than this.
@alicepahler76103 жыл бұрын
Elizabeth has been meaner to Nathan ever since she thought he had been killed. I think it is because it hit her like a ton of bricks that she cared that much, and it was a reality check that she could lose another love in a split second. Do you remember a time where all she did was fight with Jack and push him away? She was honest and told him she was afraid to love him because she wasn't as brave as he was. But, she did an about face when she was almost killed in the mine. As for Lucas, I see him as a close friend like Charles was.
@thelittlescenes11853 жыл бұрын
It is definitely more dramatic but at the same time WCTH hasn't lost its touch to reality (like soap operas) - what they are showing us this season is almost too realistic and that's what makes it so hard to watch. But because it's Hope Valley the characters will overcome this obstacle too and they will grow from it and have more depth than ever before!

I've thought about it, as much as I loved Jack, it's almost a good thing it was him instead of Nathan. Had it been Nathan, Ally would have gone to an orphanage. But baby Jack has Elizabeth, and an amazing support system. I'm not saying growing up without your dad would be easy by any means, but he would still have a parent. Ally wouldn't, at least not one who would take care of her, unless she got adopted by someone else.
@orsetta72193 жыл бұрын
So summing up. Elisabeth refuses Nathan's courtship because 1- she is afraid of suffering for his eventual loss. 2- because she is afraid that if there is something wrong with them, Ally could suffer. 3- For what Nathan didn't tell her about Fort Clay. Did I get it right? If so, I have no words. This series has become the allegory of FEAR. Lucas is afraid that Elisabeth is not sincere and leaves him, Nathan is afraid of making Elisabeth suffer and does not tell her that Jack has been called to replace him (as I have already said, I think he replaced him for the entire period of the suspension and the two did they never met), Ally is afraid of losing the chance to have a family. Another thought, why does Elisabeth have to hold Nathan responsible for her husband's death and be so hurt that she hates him? She immediately got mad at Lucas when she nearly died in the saloon. After a day it was as if nothing had happened. It seems to me that in that case the responsibility was much more evident. So I don't join the chorus of why he didn't tell Elisabeth. What should he have told her, that he is such a responsible man that he feels guilty even when it makes no sense? I'd like to have a good understanding of the office scene and evening dinner with Lucas instead if it took place. And Christopher's mention of the "mud" someone is in? Right now my brain and my modest intelligence, trapped between fears and constrictions, really feel slapped.

“What should he have told her, that he is such a responsible man that he feels guilty even when it makes no sense?” SO well said oretta! It’s a bit creepy lol, to go watch over someone but not tell them that’s what you’re doing. He didn’t have to go to HV but he wanted to redeem himself. I think she will struggle with it because of all 3. I think Bill will hopefully return to find out what happen and help them work through it. It wasn’t Nathan’s fault and it’s a guilt he has carried for all this time. I think he also could have lost a friend as well. Him being disciplined I still think will turn out to be not justified but even if it was it wasn’t his actual fault . It would have been him instead. Brian bird also tweeted there’s still more to come out about ft clay and I think it will show he holds himself guilty like Jack did over Doug because he turned down a promotion. Hopefully she will remember that. When you see what burden he’s been carrying around and remember Ally said they said he did everything right last time and how he was a lot more fun before ft clay happened. I think the depth of his feelings for Elizabeth show here in that he’s torn between protecting his daughter and the relationship between the two women in his life. Now the whole ft. CLay thing. I certainly loved that analysis. Lucas is definitely pissed that they are having the conversation and in the open. I don't like Lucas because he seems like he is hiding something. I also didn't like it when he put Elizabeth in danger when men came into the saloon with guns. I must say I am team Nathan all the way. I enjoy watching Elizabeth and Nathan because they talk and argue like they are already in a relationship. Was it Nathan's place to tell Elizabeth what happened in Fort Clay? Absolutely....but he didn't put Jack in that particular assignment or danger. That was a decision their boss made. I am sure Nathan feels a lot of guilt but I also don't think he intended to fall in love with Jack's widow. I think their relationship is much more complicated now than ever. I believe that Elizabeth has strong feelings for Nathan. She may even love him but she is still afraid. I have seen more emotion from Elizabeth from her talks with Nathan than all her dates with Lucas.

@emmanewton90743 жыл бұрын
I think B, because Nathan did not want to hurt Elizabeth because Elizabeth was so happy to see him and make friends. And Nathan did not want to get on the wrong foot with her. Nathan never expected to fall in love with Elizabeth. I think Nathan would have told her, but because of his feelings for her he held back. Nathan thought that if he did not tell her then maybe he could have a future with her. Nothing is anyone's fault, every situation has two sides to it. One side is Jack overtook Nathan's spot, and ended up dieing in the end. Even though Nathan probably did not want that knowing that Jack had a wife and a baby. The second side of the story is if Nathan would have died then Ally would have been an orphan. We can t really pin the blame on anyone because Nathan never knew that Jack would take his spot on the mission.
@thelittlescenes11853 жыл бұрын
Yes! another option is Jack would’ve died because of something else and Nathan wouldn’t have been in HV to watch over Elizabeth. I actually think differently- I thought he started getting the urge to tell her after he started developing feelings for her. But he was fighting his feelings as we know now, and that’s hard enough to do. Sure keeps you busy. I hope they have a conversation about when he initially wanted to tell her in the next episode

He followed his gut feeling, got disciplined, a different mountie had to go (that mountie chose his job and knew the risks that came with it) and a natural desaster took his life. It could've happened at the Northwestern Territories, it could've happened at a later time- yes, it could've also not happened at all. But it wasn't in Nathan's or Jack's or Elizabeth's hands. And that's exactly what she would tell her son

What does he mean it was part of the reason he stayed?
@a.l.s.92733 жыл бұрын
I believe he stayed for Allie but partially stayed for Elizabeth. If you remember after Elizabeth discovers he is leaving with the promotion she visits him in his office and very tearfully ask him " what about the friends Allie has made?...the friends you have made?" Next thing we know Nathan wires headquarters and turns down the promotion!

Yeah I think all three. Although I think after some time to think she'll realize it's not Nathan's fault. But in the moment, I'm sure it would feel like it. Nathan should have told her, but at the same time, there hasn't really been a good time. So I think after she cools off and takes some time to think, she'll realize Nathan doesn't have any blame in the situation.
