Savage and Flair always had great in-ring chemistry with one another, even if pride was the only thing they were fighting for. Also, while Alex Wright isn't my first choice when it comes to memorable matches, what he did here with Pillman was fantastic and really showed that Brian could work well with almost anybody. Thanks for the awesome content, BZ! After reviewing that Baywatch episode a few months back, I hope we get a Bash at the Beach '95 review soon.

Pit bull Pitman is one the first WCW wrestlers I ever saw. He was a lot different from what I saw in WWF at the time. Living in CT in the early 90s, I had no idea what WCW was. We moved to Florida when I was 10 and that’s when I saw my first WCW show. I instantly fell in love and one year later we were at Bash at the Beach 96 and the rest is history.

Just the clips you showed alone of the Anderson/Renegade match prove Arn was one of the greatest ever. Those f*** ups were so blatant, and Arn managed to make most of them somehow work out. Arn is one of the most underrated wrestlers and talkers of all time. He was one of my favorites growing up, and doesn't get the credit he deserves. It's a shame to see such an incredible performer get put in a match with such a train wreck, but the fact that it worked even a little is a credit to Anderson's greatness.

Great American Bash was replaced in 1993 by Beach Blast. The July PPV in 1994 was named Bash at the Beach, combining the two names. WCW never reduced the number of PPVs each year, so it wasn't cost-cutting. Turner's edict seems to be the better explanation, with the July PPV being renamed in 93, and the Bash name being brought back in 94.

Well said, I'm glad I gave Brian a genuine chance because at first OSW was on fire and so many other cheap imitators. But this channel has been very consistent and interesting picks to review. Best of all he gives the fans an opportunity to choose what to review

Starrcade 94 featured Hulk Hogan vs. The Butcher. Starrcade 95 featured Ric Flair vs. Randy Savage.

Anyone catch Melanie Pillman at the beginning? Makes sense, Dayton is about an hour up I-75 from their home in Florence, KY.
@zlinedavid

90 minutes, give or take, but reasonably close. Brian actually lived about 10-15 minutes south of Florence in an out of the way subdivision. And yes, that’s the house from the “Pillman has a gun” scene from Raw.

Best part of the Flair/Savage match was listening to how Conflicted Heenan was.It was like he honestly didn't know who he wanted to win....

If I were Bobby Heenan, I should root for Ric Flair simply because of their partnership back in the WWF

But that's what makes the match dynamics so intresting @Michael Bandada. Bobby wants to root for Flair so badly,but @ the same time he's watched Savage grow-up and is genuinely good friends with the Poffos(spelling?),so a part of him WANTS Randy to win & get revenge for the attack on his dad.It just add's to the drama imo.....

LMAO I remember buying that VHS (yeah I'm old) as a kid and being so disappointed by it, I should have bought one of these WWF compilations instead. Great review, thanks for the trip down memory lane. 👍👌

Ha. I had a double feature video from wcw called the best of the Great American Bash and Bash at the Beach. It had the main event but obviously not all the crap. Flair and Savage had such good chemistry.

Actually Brian, Starccade 95 was the Starrcade with the New Japan vs WCW motif, where it was a best of 7 tournament within the show between New Japan and WCW stars. IT was also the one where Ric Flair regained the WCW title from Randy Savage a month after Savage won it at World War 3.

Great story telling with flair and savage. It’s meant to be a fight and it looks and feels like one. Whoever wins or loses, it’s a big deal and both go to the next level. No one buried or made to look stupid. Pay attention anyone who is thinking of training to wrestle

Quick question.. Why was Stevie Ray wearing a black shirt with his wrestling gimmick? Did he have some sort of scar, burn or cut on his body he was trying to conceal? Or was it just one of those random things that just only happens in wrestling...
@thepassingstatic6268

That's a good question. Usually when a guy wears a t shirt it's because they wanna hide their flab, but Stevie Ray looks to be in good shape

I was born and raised in Dayton. I saw Randy Savage vs. Ricky Steamboat at Hara Arena when I was a kid (around '86). The arena was destroyed back in June by a tornado.
