use a long leader 9 to 12 feet long and as light as possible. Tie on is either two ways, first with just the fly using it to fish just on or in the film of the water. Use floatin at different sections of the fly to make it float on the water the way you want. Set the hook with any movement around the fly. Now me, I can't see something that small, so I use a high floating dry fly as a indicator tying off the second fly maybe 10 to 12 inches off the hook bend of the dry fly. Don't fish long distances, keep your cast short and really watch the fly so that it floats with no drag.

I don't have much experience with emerger patterns, how do you fish them? Do you fish them like a nymph, with an indicator, or are you supposed to always use them with a dry fly and use that as an indicator?

fish emerger patterns like dries, on the surface. the pattern is imitating the moment when the nymph is in the surface film "emerging" to the adult stage.

You can fish em like a nymph too just make sure you let the fly swing at the end of the drift making it look like its emerging to the surface
