Boy!!!!!! this is a fiendishly difficult arrangement and a lot could go wrong - nothing did. Loved the use of piccolo, flute, soprano sax, euphoniums and Eb Bass. What a brilliant group of truly professional musicians.

It begins with the Adagio of the Concierto de Aranjuez, by Spanish composer Joaquin Rodrigo, in contrabass and flute. Beautiful.

Yes, that is his all the way up to 2:30 and I’m always a little disappointed when credit is not given. Written for classical guitar and orchestra by Rodrigo back in 1939. Chick was born in 1941. Also used on Sketches of Spain from Miles Davis and Gil Evans in 1960 without the knowledge or permission of the original composer. Señor Rodrigo died in 1999 at the age of 97. This melody was his most well known work.
