The haunting saxophone melody in the first dance when taken up by the strings gives me goose flesh - one of Rachmaninoff's great melodic inspirations and one of his greatest compositions.

Wow der Klarinettist hat es perfekt gespielt! Ich spiele selbst Klarinette und mit so einer Lautstärke so klar mit diesem Klang zu spielen ist einfach beeindruckend! Der Rest war auch perfekt😂🎉

Wonderful performance and video editing. However, the best moment for me ist at 11:13 when for the first time one of the musicians shares a smile, this is as if the ice of musical perfection is overcome by the sheer joy of sharing the moment together.

Cette symphonie est un délice pour abolir le déferlement des bruits et des images du quotidien et entrouvrir l'espace d’un ailleurs où contingences et représentations cèdent la place à l'immatérialité du sensible. La puissance expressive de l'architecture sonore rompt ici avec toute forme de transcription du réel pour s'attacher à l'extension d'un univers fabuleux dans lequel la couleur et le rythme des compositions constituent une expiration qui donne voix à l'exaltation 🤠

Wonderful violin solo in Mvt 2, and then that CRAZY tempo in the valse at 16:25....I've never heard it so fast! It's already 32nd notes, so WOW!

I've played Symphonic Dances as orchestral pianist, and those scales weren't on my score! Was It maybe a revised version ?

@@mozartmahler61 possibly. It’s such a nice little addition, I don’t understand why so many conductors choose not to include it, unless they just aren’t aware of it. Strange

It is not in the published score. This scale is a written into a copy of the score at the Library of Congress in Washington, DC, supposedly in Rachmaninoff's hand. This information and the alteration (and another two in the third movement) is in the front matter of the Boosey & Hawkes 1991 edition.
