@@mottosierra1372 yeah, being a good song writer doesn't mean he can play anywhere close to the Ramones style. Imho even the instrument (Les Paul) is not applicable for this. On the other hand you can say that it's the freedom of artistic expression - and it's true :)

CJ really is a good Ramone. He sings with clarity, you can understand every word he’s singing. While the Ramones were still active, Joey was all too happy to let CJ sing all of the songs during warm up etc. Joey never held him back and didn’t feel threatened or insecure. It’s a little strange Marky Ramone doesn’t embrace CJ Ramone in any way. I don’t understand Marky’s reasoning, but they both have their own gigs where their respective bands perform the catalog of the Ramone classics. If I had to guess, Marky doesn’t want to share the limelight with CJ and it could be more lucrative for Marky not to be associated with CJ. Just speculating on my part,

He mostly did use only downstrokes throughout the entire set. Sure, he 'cheated' a few times.... Probably because he was tired..or because he wanted a certain sound when trying to include parts from the albums...parts that Johnny didn't play live. In multiple interviews, CJ has said that he tries to include the extra guitars and vocal harmonies from the albums when playing some of the songs live. That is why he always uses 2 guitars players now...guitar players that can sing. Besides, if there is anyone on the planet that is qualified for this job, it is Daniel Rey. Great musician, super-fan and producer of the actual band. Frig, he bought Johnny's #1 Mosrite from him (along with other guitars).
@Didymus-vz6uy4 жыл бұрын
@John T the whole point of the ramones was to be fast, loud, and simple. If you wanna go watch some primary Donna do a 2 minute long "look at me" solo in a 5 minute song, go listen to hair metal or some other music.
@Nick9923 жыл бұрын
@@Didymus-vz6uy took me years to master the downstrokes but I can play for hours now without skipping notes or making mistakes. This is the hardest part, as the more fatigued you get, the more prone your wrist is to playing a "ghost" chord without actually hitting the strings, to let it recover. The key is to alternate between strumming positions and make use of each part of your arm for that, starting from fingers/thumb all the way to the triceps. This is why you see Johnny moving around so much, change stances and bring guitar up on impact chords. One of the best examples of straight up power downstroking is Marky from ZEKE, he does a good job of staying absolutely still and "recovering" unnoticeably.
