Universal Studios already offers the same for their guests which ads an additional $89-235/day to their admission price. If staying on resort, this perk is free. People would often book ghost rooms at universal, just to get the free express pass upgrade, as it was usually cheaper. Universal's pricing was outrageous to me, when we went last year, and so we stood in 60-90min standby lines for nearly everything we rode that day. Hearing Disney's price point makes Universal's seem like a steal of a deal, by comparison. It's sad how the parks nickel and dime you, for everything. I was incredibly fortunate as a kid. Grew up with snowbird grandparents, and we got to go to Disney a lot. My family weren't rich by any means, but having accomodations covered by getting to stay with my grandparents made the trips more attainable. With high prices, those trips feel far less accessible, for today's families.

That's like saying the VIP Tour punishes poor and middle class because they can't afford 10k a day for access to whatever they want with back entrance access. Disney saw an opportunity for a demographic between the VIP Tour and Lightening Lane and are now capitalizing on it, we're talking lawyers and doctors, etc. in the 1% (those that make 400k or more annually and can afford to spend a little more if they choose to do so). We also have to remember that they have to price it at a level that only a few will take advantage of it, but the majority won't, else it completely destroys the lightening lane system they currently have if it was priced low enough that everyone could just save a little more and take advantage of it. That would turn the lightening lane into just another normal lane, it has to be setup so that just a light sprinkle of those taking advantage of it will be added to any given line. My bet is that the pricing will increase over time to guarantee that happens.

Slight clarification: the lightning lane premier DOESN'T give "unlimited" rides as you stated in the video. Per Disney, it gives users " one time entry on every LL attraction in the park".So you get one unscheduled/unreserved ride on each LL attraction. You don't get unlimited rides on, say Iron or Tiana's.

Back in 2018 me and 7 other family members put $400 dollars each into a vacation, rented a Van and drove from Kansas City to Colorado. We were gone for almost 2 Weeks and stayed at 5 different resorts/cabins and saw the whole State driving in a giant loop. Most of us all that went on it agree, it was one of the best vacations of our lives- it was my best for sure... then again I planned most of it! It'd probably cost more like $500-600 each these Days to do the same thing but still- WAY better than anything you get at Disney World, it was beatiful everywhere we went- kinda felt like I was in a Movie sometimes- it was early Fall with all the Colors and Perfect Weather- watching the Sunrise every morning from a different place was awesome! I also went to Disney World and one of their Cruises when I was about 16 back in about 2000 and even then it was kinda boring and that was one of the best times to have ever visited if you ask me, it was certainly fun. I'd never go to Disney World on my own Dime, I get so much more enjoyment out of so much less Money doing something like that vacation I mentioned above.

As a single mom who doesn't get any child support or government aid, we can't afford SIX FLAGS much less Disneyworld 😂😭 My kiddo's lucky we go to Chuck E Cheese every now and then and when we go she's off the hook THRILLED. I save as much as I can and let her play all day. Sometimes we take a friend and sometimes she makes friends there and every time she comes back home tired, asleep and with a smile on her face. Who needs an overpriced overrated amusement park led by a greedy mouse when everyone knows it's the RAT who gets the cheese !! 🤣🐀🐀🐀🧀🧀🧀

I think it’s great. Disney is a luxury. Too many people are going anyways making it a horrible experience. Way overcrowded. I think they should keep raising the prices to make it more exclusive. If they raise the tix prices to lets say $300 a ticket but only half the people go, it’s worth it.
@Jim222001Ай бұрын
They need to make it more like Universal Studios’ express. Where you are guaranteed to get on the rides. With Lightning Lane, you aren’t. I haven’t been on Slinky once and I always purchase lightning lane.
@GrumpyMacawАй бұрын
DAS pass and Genie Plus punished the standby lanes. Those two programs created over-crowded lightning lanes, causing excessively slow moving standby lanes. In 2023, I went to WDW parks 147 times (park hopping included). I had mapped how long a standby line is for most rides just by looking at the que end. After the recent DAS changes due to the abuse of the system, I can already tell you most line are 30%-50% shorter, despite appearing longer. This premium fastpass system looks identical to the Universal Express programs, where a guest can expect to spend $280/day to use, or stay in a deluxe resort for it to be included or discounted.
@ChienaAvtzonАй бұрын
This system will further help alleviate both the standby and lightning lanes. Get rid of the individual/multi-pass and only have the premier pass. It works at Universal Studios and Disneyland Paris, and should be implemented at the domestic Disney Parks. It should also not be available to season pass holders, as they go on a regular basis.
@GrumpyMacawАй бұрын
@@ChienaAvtzon I am an annual passholder at both Walt Disney World and Universal Orlando, and live about 8 minutes from Epcot. At Universal, I have a premier pass, which allows me to use 1 express pass per ride after 4:00pm, but this feature only exists for the most expensive pass at Universal.

This is why I do everything I can to talk folks out of spending extra at the parks cause its gotten ludicrous! Line waiting isn't as bad as it was so waiting isn't that long, the lines are smaller with the smaller crowds, and lightning lane/genie+ is a ripoff.
@michellekelly5522Ай бұрын
This version is better than the current one. Fewer people using lightning lane would be better for everyone. Standby would move quicker.
@mmrsoxnation5Ай бұрын
Can we just for a second remember that Universal's Express Pass starts at $90+. Also premium hotel guests get it for free. While this is far cheaper than what Disney is doing, based on some of ya'lls logic, Universal hates poor people too because this is a perk for rich guests which could potentially add $360/day in addition to the park tix.

It’s not skipping the line! Lightning lane is still a line! It’s probably a shorter line than the standby line but it’s still a line.

So, I'm currently on vacation in California right now. Me and my sister's family are doing a 4 day Disney/Universal thing. First thing I've noticed is how much cheaper everything at Universal is. The thing I wanted to point out though is. We got Lightning lane for our 2 days at Disney, the only standard lane we did was for the Cars ride (we weren't gonna pay an extra $20 for that) that line took 2 hours. When we got close enough to see the Lightning Lane, my sister started keeping count. According to her they would let roughly 4-6 people from the standard lane through, then 50-60 in the Lightning Lane through. They really do punish you for not using the Lightning Lane.
@dree2295Ай бұрын

Thanks guys. I went to Epcot 2 days ago and the food portions were tiny for the money I spent. Best to get drinks but even with that they don’t give you lids so I had to be careful to not topple over my drink. I also was told that I couldn’t go into a shop in “England “ with the drink. I enjoyed my day but it was a bit eerie seeing how Disney nickel and dimes everything. Trust me they will be fine financially as the crowds show it too. I am older with no kids so it was great for us boomers. Can’t imagine having even one kid and spending so much though so I feel ya..I saw lots of strollers and young families. They all look happy and it was a beautiful and magical day. I have not gone to Disney since 2005. The weather was perfect for the so called food festival with tiny portions. Love Disney now without kids in tow!🎉
