Hi I need to add a non return between the pump and mpv, as if there's a power cut. the water will back siphon into the seive. Just seeing what the best way to empty the filter/pipework to do this, or is the only way to drain from the bottom plug?
@karlpearson1798 Жыл бұрын
As the sieve is pumped out, could this be placed below water level (did pick up on the 20mm). All of out kit will be below water level but need to install a pre filter of sorts prior to the bead.
@TimWaddington Жыл бұрын
It’s the level of the sieve that determines the flow over the sieve so it’s better to be the right height

@@TimWaddington Our pump room is 300mm below water level. Planning on fitting a K+ bead off 4" bottom drain. Will it still work or would we be best with another bead as a pre filter prior t K+. If the sieve is pumped then i would thought it should work if it fails it should only drop the pond by the 300mm? Many thanks

Just been flicking through the manual and it says to have the pump lower than the bottom of the sieve, did they mention anything about this when EA came to install it?

What happens if there's lots of debris in the seive so that the water can't flow through (ie if you don't clean the seive enough)? That's my concern - or do you have a balance pipe as another option for flow? I love the idea, just concerned about cleaning obligations on the seive (about to build a big pond!).

@@missvmartin6571 the screen is around 18inches so that would be alot of debris ,the debris rolls to bottom where there is drainage hole I clean mine once a week I use the debris as fertiliser for the garden 😀 your concerns are valid but in my opinion for it to block you would have to leave it a few months for this without cleaning,

What for? I listen to what you say but the bead has its own bypass
@rich810902 жыл бұрын
@@TimWaddington to reduce pressure on the pump and increase turnover, you can either turn down the pump or keep the extra flow. I thought ea would have it as an option in the future at some point, I gained 50% flow rate on my system with the same pump by just installing a bypass and using 4 swept curves instead of regular 90’s. Don’t get me wrong you need the extra space to fit it so if room is at a premium then it’s understandable. I am an engineer so when I see something minimal have such a big impact it seems a no brainer. Running the water through the tight bends of the multiport during general running adds a lot of pressure. With a bypass added you only need the multiport during cleaning.

I know people who have had Cetus overflow on a pump fed system - if you don't clean the debris out sufficiently often - and they were suggesting on an outdoor pond they had to do it twice a day in summer ... so eventually got rid of it.

I’m kicking myself in the ass for not putting a sieve filter in my pond. My fish load is high but don’t want to get rid of any koi. This means I’m cleaning my filter media a lot. I’m definitely going to add one before my biological filter. Beautiful set up there. One question though does the bead filter contain your biological ??? Otherwise I don’t see where you have. Great video
@TimWaddington6 ай бұрын
Yes the Kplus is designed to be a bacteria filter too. Definitely a good option for you.
@MikeyDunn2 жыл бұрын
So pretty much a victim of both your own success, and peoples inability to listen to the details on both set-ups. Having a sieve as a pre-filter should definitely ease the load on the main filter, you could see straight away that it was preventing larger debris from getting to the bead.
