What cheap graphics card would work with a low end mini pc,like the chuwi herobox? We bought this 3 years ago prior to having much PC knowledge, and well,learned in these last couple years, it's a surprisingly good mini pc, not anywhere near the mini pc you guys are working with there, but it's running windows 11, and it does play some higher end games with some very carefully set settings. But since I acually got it,I've been looking up info on how to upgrade the chuwi herobox, most ppl say,no ,,not possible, but I've found word otherwise, and you just have to know what your doing, not your avg desktop upgrade. So my idea, simplest, is the external graphics card..just unsure which one, and which one we can afford

1) The gpu fans arent spinning because its idle on the windows screen. Very little power needs to be used therefore little cooling is needed. 2) The video is more focused on the use case of this setup, not the exact specs. And they actually mention at 12:57 why there were 2 different graphics cards

I would go with a used 2070 rather than the 3060. The 2070 outperforms the 3060 and you might be able to find it cheaper used

What are the DDR4 speeds? Is it 2300, 3000, 3200,3600, 4000mhz??? Are Cas timing low like CAS 16 -18??? Is it dual channel? Name brand and quality of chips used in the ram is also important. Are they cheaper Micron chips or Samsung quality chips. Many things to consider about buying memory before just looking at the price..

Agree wholeheartedly. Why buy a mini then? I have a Trigkey s3 with 32gb ram, 256nvme and a 500gb ssd and play eso all the time with no problems except for their software failures. it runs very smooth. After fifty years gaming experience, I find you DON'T need 125fps, never have. 50 fps works just fine and it's smooth too. Any software that requires you to have an intel I9 or Amd Ryzen 9, is only helping those manufacterers to make money. It is not necessary and never was. After all, Diablo I ran at 30fps and was very smooth and clean. All games could be but they won't write them that way. Most "gamers" are the I want generation, not the I need generation. Try living without electricity, running water, or gas cooking and heating. That's what I had as a child so be quiet about what they want.

Ryzen 7 5700g has a pretty decent iGpu, on stock it's better than a GT 1030, with a decent overclock and a ram kit it can reach the performance close to a RX 560, a gt 730 would have trouble even playing 4k videos..

Yes you can use the 730 as a supplemental gpu if your looking to add more monitors. Just be sure that the bios is set up for both igpu and external gpu.

@@zz8702 Thanks - That's what I thought. I have 32g of RAM. Though my game starts at 175 fps, after a few moments of gameplay it drops to 35-45 fps. I was thinking if a supplemental gpu was added my fps could stay within the 60 range. My games - Sims 4; Cities Skylines. I'm a Fine Arts Photographer and filmmaker as well.

The bandwidth is the same as what the 6500xt is limited to. People say how awesome it is to hook up a more powerful gpu this way but complain about the 6500xt being at the same connection.

Why this is acceptable is cause it's more of a janky workaround to get better graphics performance out of a very small and limited unit. The reason why the 6500xt is getting bad rep for its bandwidth limitation among other "bad" aspects of the card is that since it's meant to be a dedicated gpu to be slotted into an actual gaming pc and as such people's standards for those are higher and they expect more than these third-party solutions meant for weak and cheap pc's.

@@mikex4941 not denying there are issues with the card. Just pointing out that the bandwidth is about the same as in this video... Unless you're on pcie 3 or worse. I've seen people use m.2 ports on older laptops to hook up to a gpu. While the 6500xt isn't necessarily a great option, it beats not having anything. It is capable of doing decent gaming, especially if you look at it as more of a replacement to a failing older graphics card. It sure beats the hell out of my R7 450 2gb lol. I've been considering making some sort of dock with a more powerful gpu for the steam deck, though as far as I know it only has the one m.2 and im not yet sure if its usb-c port can handle a gpu.

What I mean is that you can't use them at the same time without support, compatibility, and a bridge to connect both cards. But you can choose which gpu to use, either the other one or the other one, not both at the same time, unless you're running SLI or CrossFire.
