Old Folks Are Worth A Fortune, with silver in their hair, gold in their teeth, stones in their kidneys, lead in their feet and gas in their stomach. I have become a lot more social with the passing of the year's, some might even call me a frivolous old gal. Im seeing five gentlemen every day. As soon as i wake,Will Power helps me get out of bed. Then I go see John. Then Charley Horse comes along, and when he's here he takes alot of my time and attention. When he leaves, Arthur Ritis shows up and stays for the rest of the day. "He doesn't like to stay in one place very long so he takes me from joint to joint".After such a busy day,im really tired and glad to go to bed with Ben Gay. What a life

That's exactly what Mickey Mantle said later in his life. The sad part is that both his father and grandfather died young and old Mickey thought that would be his fate as well and so he didn't really care about how he treated his body when young. He did live into his 60s and that was his lament later in life.

Oh Mr. Tom, thank you. I'm almost 63. I started smoking 6 years ago, Cheyenne cigars, $1.80 per pack. I had the "perfect family" until my daughter-in-law stole my Mama's $3500 diamond engagement ring and pawned it for $200. That ring meant everything to my Mama because it was all she had to leave me. She died that January and Tina pawned it when I was out of town in June of that year. My trust and my whole world came crashing down. I became a different person. It tore my family apart. Yes the Sheriff's Department prosecuted her, but I've received about $150 from her to this day. Her soon to be ex-husband, my precious son, smokes the strongest cigarettes you can buy, and has since he was 18. He's now 42. Mr. Tom, I don't want to outlive my son, and my husband has bad lungs. If someone had told me 10 years ago that I would smoke, I would say they were crazy. I don't want to see them die. Billy Graham once said other than the gospel, if he could convince people of one other thing, it was that life is so short. So true. We are all young people trapped in an old person's body.

All so true. Add age spots, skin tags, moles, and saggy face which can make you look unhappy even if when you feel yourself smiling. Seems the mind is willing more than the body to accomplish tasks...more of an effort to twist, bend, carry things. Have to rise slower and allow the circulation to catch up and to be careful walking as balance may not be as springy and flexible. It’s fine though...still wake up and be grateful for all the Lord has given to us in life and learn to cherish every moment. We need the best medicine as in laughter, music, good conversation, and comfort in reading God’s words in the bible.

I am a baby boomer but I guess I fared better than a lot of my fellow boomers! My parents taught me well and that prepared me for my future years ahead. My hair has thinned and turned gray especially after I lost Jerry and Sugar Bear. For us ladies, there are chin whiskers...and the effects of gravity on our bosoms...and the huge amounts of cellulite where cellulite never was before...and the vanishing waistline even if we're still slim... I hear you on abusing the body. Ive never smoked, drunk more than small amounts of alcohol, or done drugs - not even marijuana. I've done heavy housework, farm work, gardening, and crouched for hour upon hour in trenches as an archaeologist. Archaeology also involves carrying heavy buckets of the soil and rock we excavate, and long periods of hunching over the finds to identify, weigh, measure, catalogue, and photograph them. Very long hours of writing reports hammer the eyes, neck, shoulders, and wrists. I've torn muscles in my back, displaced vertebrae in my neck, damaged the ligaments in my right forearm, and destroyed my thyroid by eating soy when I didn't know I'm hypersensitive to legumes and thought I'd be a vegetarian. Yeah, looking back I could have taken much better care of my body.

Getting old is not easy but every day the Lord gives is a blessing. Mr Tom thank you for this video. We can relate to many of the age effects you mentioned and your message makes us realize we are not in this alone.......Many people understand what people blessed with age deal with. Hopefully many more will learn. I am sorry to say that 20 years ago my mother started having problems with things that she had always dealt with. I could not understand why this was happening and would even get irritated. In time I realized this was some of the first signs of dementia which continued to progress. To this day I still feel quilt. I hope this helps someone else to recognize early signs and deal with the way this disease changes the life of the person and their family. God bless you and all your viewers.

Hello Mr Tom! I'm up north here in WI and we get together around a bonfire in the backyard most of the year to talk, grill and relax. We've got a rather large front porch but its not quite big enough for neighbors, family and friends who may pop by. Grilling in a blizzard is fine, but the fire moves to the fireplace 🔥 I wish I'd have the chance to grow old as a normal person. I have defective collagen which caused old age in my 20s, and now at 50, every joint is dislocated and full of arthritis. Lists of issues. There's nothing I could have done differently so, all I can do is accept it. You look great! Aging is just a process that moves slower for some.. Focus on what your plusses are instead of what you're losing! My kids have always asked me what it was like growing up in the 70s, and the main thing I remember is that it was quieter. TV before cable wasn't worth turning on. Less traffic, no computers, cell phones... Quiet.

👍 You're amongst good company here Mr.Tom. l know none of us are immune to the conditions aging brings. And, a little 😉😱 tooting never frightened us away lol! 😄💨💨💨💨💨😷💞 I feel myself repeat and forget more often too. I also see it happening in both young and old. Keep up the videos my friend. We are having to spend way too much alone time this year and who knows for how long really. I often talk to myself, my son when he's up for it and, always to Merlin. The day my pup a verbally answers, then I'll worry. ☺ 🐕 Because this is happening to young and old just adds another layer of suspicion to my long list. Just a feeling mostly. I would say more but, l forgot what l was gonna say.😱😉☺ ...... Oh yeah, my mom's dementia came on over decade's very slowly. She kept notebooks but, never spoke of forgetting directly. Instead we made joke's and laughed our way through the many year's that followed. Laughter is the best medicine. Mom died with dementia but not of it. In her case the dementia was a blessing. The part of her brain affected did not allow her to suffer the excruciating pain of a extremely aggressive form of cancer that came year's later and took her painlessly home within month's. God bless you Mr. Tom, and all yours. And, ofcourse all of the virtual community too, (friends, because we are. 💕💞💕)

Good video Mr Tom ☺ 👍 I love having lemonade in the summer or coffee on cooler days on the porch. I so love doing this when you have a few people to share it with. It's almost a thing of the past and that's sad. When I grew up, many of my parent's friends would sit and talk for hours and have something to drink. It's just what people did. My Mom would go for visits because everyone was walking distance. I have fond memories. I know how you feel Mr Tom about getting older and lack of energy. Some days I just don't have it in me and it's frustrating because in my mind I'm still young lol. I have bad hips but I still do my best to keep everything done. Takes me longer than before but I eventually get it done. I've always worked so hard and it's upsetting that my body doesn't cooperate as it used to. Our bodies go through a type of metamorphosis that we can't really control but we make the best of it. I'm 55 and I still have a garden, mow my 2 acre property, flowerbeds, housework, cording wood and bringing it into the house, cooking, canning, etc.... I live alone with my babygirl Cali, she's a beautiful Calico cat. Now, I have to shovel snow lol. I keep my mind active by reading. I do write stuff down because I will forget. Alzheimer is such a terrible thing to see people go through 😢 Everything diminishes. We should get better with age not the other way around. I remember my Mom telling me to chew my food properly. Very good things you've covered, we all go through it. So cute to see kitties. They do have sharp claws. They think they're playing, gotta love them 😂 Mullein is good for respiratory issues. You make a tea with the entire plant 👍 😊 I always pick and dry it for the winter. Take care Mr Tom and blessings to you and the kitty crew 🙀 🙏

If only we could reset our lives. Things I have learned...facial hair gets to be an issue for women as they age; varicose veins can happen to men and in some very "sensitive" areas, body parts react to gravity, that middle age spread can start in your 20's, and anyone who says they feel like they the same as they did when they were 18, must have been born on February 29, leap day, so they only legally have a birthday once every 4 years!! My mom will be 90 on New Year's Eve. She lives with me. As I watch her go through many age related changes, I realize that I am only 19 years younger than her! That used to seem a lot more of an age distance than it does now! We both love to read. But she is battling both glaucoma and macular. Dear Lord, please skip me on that one! She has A-fib. I have a few signs I too may have to battle that some day. Fortunately I got my ear genes from Dad and can hear the dining room clock ticking when I lay in bed. Mom has no hearing in one ear and less than normal in the other. The most commonly used word in our household is "huh?"I now realize how cruel it is to not talk to your spouse until they turn on the kitchen spigot. She foregoes eating before appointments to avoid bathroom issues. I have either given up my favorite spicy foods or am prepared to stay vertical much of the late night. Lately she doesn't like eating protein. I prayed to see what I should do about that. I feel God said feed her Ezekiel bread. I had never eaten it and didn't know much about it., but discovered it is high in protein. Loaded with lots of shredded carrots and sprouts, cream cheese with sunflower seeds black olives green onion marinated artichoke and spread on the Ezekiel bread has become a favorite. I found it in the health food freezer at my store. And my husband also likes it. It sure helps me when everyone will eat the same foods! All in all, I am thankful to be on the upper side of the dirt and know I will not leave this world until God says its my time--no matter what is going on in the world. Praise God for His mercy!

As time goes by life teaches you a little humility. Its easy to think your the greatest thing ever when your young because you haven't been put to the test yet. If you are doing really well in your late teens and early twenty's that probably more to do with your parents than you.

My right hand and forearm are just now healing from being the only playmate of a tiny kitten my son found in late August. We named him Cowboy Randy. My other four grown cats hate him as he is quite the little bully. I hope you leave your privacy screen intact, as it is also a haven for the birds. Love your yard walks. Getting old is not exactly fun, but it beats the alternative. Some of us are blessed with many of your afflictions and can sympathize, but we do have our sense of humor to rely on and our faith. I will be so glad when this whole Covid thing ebbs. I miss my family! Thank you so much for your warm videos. They mean a lot.

I suppose that we can conclude that the human body comes with a limited time warranty. I can usually do everything I am used to doing but just for not as long and I am thankful for that. I have heard that with age a person's eyesight can improve and my last visit to the eye doctor seemed to bare that out in my case as my new glasses were not nearly as strong. I am thankful for that too. I pray that the downward spiral will be slow and gentle. Stay well, think young and blessings to all.

I remember a when I was 16 and I thought 30 was OLD 🤣😂!. I’m 52 & I LOVE getting old. Don’t like the aches and pains that comes with it. Wrinkles, spots and graying hair doesn’t bother me none. With all the crazy things I did in my younger days, it’s a miracle I made it to 45🤣. The young ones don’t realize that one day they look into the mirror and notice their butt is not as perky, stomach not as firm, and wrinkles here and there. Just embrace it. I had friends that didn’t live long enough to graduate. And friends that didn’t see their children graduate or see their grandchildren born. I feel so blessed. Much Aloha 🌴🤙🏽🌋

Anymore who says getting old are our golden years is full of crap. But another day to look at the leaves on the trees rather than looking up at the roots is a good day. Anyway back to your conversation. My father-in-law has alzheimer. I'm seeing him slowly drift away. I took care of him for 7 years. After those 7 years I just couldn't do it anymore I already beat my body down doing private home care and other jobs through the years. I wont give up even though I have days that are really bad. Lol, Mr. Tom! Lol! I didn't think you were going to go there but you did! Man, I laughed so hard. Okay, I don't know about noses and ears, but your beard's looking good. Now here's my aging tip. I used to have a lot of problem with bruising on the back of my hands and wrists, where the skin had gotten so thin that wearing a bracelet would break capillaries and blood would pool up, causing really ugly bruising. But I take chia everyday, either in a green smoothie or in my oatmeal, and as long as I'm taking the chia, I don't have that problem. Plus the back of my hands plump up so they don't look so sunken. And if I stop taking the chia, I go right back to sunken and bruised. Nothing scientific there, so draw your own conclusions.

My husband and I are relatively healthy but if we had known then what we know now....We married at 22 just 2 months after meeting and the family thought that was shocking. Instead of worrying about the gossip now we"d spend our time living up to all the things they thought we were doing and having a darn good time doing it!! Yeap , dental issue and cant chew like you once did, on medications that creates problems, like blood thinners, less little thing and you bleed like a stuck hog, hearing is another thing, and yes vision, hair thinning, thin skin, dry skin, toenails becomes thick and you have problems cutting them yourself due to no grip and can't hold on to a small object and you drop things. God forbid you cough or sneeze you might pass gas or wet your self or like you said oppies can happen, and the embarrassing thing is you never know when it might happen. your eyes water a like easier, you do become a lot more emotional, tender hearted, and weepy at times, at the least little thing. you can't reach things or bend over , for you might fall over, your balance goes, and if you lean over to pull a weed and come up to fast you might see stars and the world whirls around you, and if your not really careful you might pass out, and with that you might break a bone, or at the least your pride and call yourself a stumbling old fool. Your feet doesn't lift up and cross over something you once could hop over, so many things just goes away. You find you are very careful about walking, and falling, or turning to fast, going up and down steps, especially without a hail rail for balance. I could go on but I want. Our bodies becomes tired and what once would take an hour to do now takes several hours. God Bless us all, because if we live long enough we will all endure the above mentions. We may not remember what we were doing or saying at some point, that's a given also. I could go on but I want. ENJOY your Youth and middle age because it all down hill after 50, your peak time is gone the over the hill begins. ♥Be Blessed Mr. Tom Always♥

Modern workout regimens and diets can’t eternally postpone the day when skin begins to sag, joints begin to creak and mental acuity begins to dull. God, genetics and lifestyles all have a say about longevity. "Wisdom belongs to the aged, and understanding to the old." Those under fifty don't realize that worry lines, and crows feet, were earned and are best thought as the laugh lines of life's experiences. I tell my children, life doesn't get easier as we age, so prepare to cushion it.

I think you are right. Lifestyle has a lot to do with aging. My husband of 52 years was horseback usually 14 hours a day for about 35 years. He is Weathered! He looks about 10 years older than he is. Mr. Tom, you really hit on a popular topic in light of the many responses! I got pretty tickled, too, at your remarks- you are quite comical. So is Spooky! 😆 Only one other person mentioned Gravity as a bit of a problem. It is surprising to see how the curves of yesteryear have Moved. One of the more frustrating things I’ve noticed is that poor eyesight goes along with the facial hair troubles. You need good vision to deal with the latter. Swapping glasses, using a magnifying mirror and finding good light are all a challenge. Then you drop the tweezers. It’s best not to look that hard. Without my glasses, in low lighting, and standing well away from the mirror, I’m really still quite nice-looking! 😂 I think the best plan is not to worry about looks, try to be quiet about aches because no one wants to hear about them, get enough rest, and put my biggest effort into knowing God. After all, Eternity is a whole lot longer than this mortal life and I hope to spend it with Him. My love to you and the wonderful kitties! ♥️🌟

Hi Mr. Tom, I remember when I first watched this video. And, I have to say, just since then, yes, I have experienced even more 'old age problems. Yep, I was diagnosed with osteoporosis, a thing a lot of us old ladies get that makes the inside of our bones look like Swiss cheese. And, well, nobody informed me that when ya get old, ya kinda lose yer balance a lot a times. Well, I fell back in 2020 on the stairs, and broke my right hand and wrist, then this year, 2022, I tripped and fell in my back yard, breakin my left wrist. Don't have no medical insurance, so my old bones was left to heal up however they can. At least now I got a matching set. Lol.😄 So, yep, growin old ain't for sissies. Seem's like the older ya get, the more things pop that ya never even heard of when you was younger. When your young, you think your invincible, and you can eat as ya please, and do whatever ya want, and you will never have problems, and you will always have your strength and energy. But that is just not so. Now, at 68, goin on 69 in March, I am surely feelin my years. I walk slower, can't see as clearly, my goodness, things I always took for granted when I was young. And I think to myself, how can it be, that I am this old now....where did all those years go? They went by so fast. Surely, it is just as God's Word say's, our life is but a vapor.

Hi Mr. Tom. I have one remedy to share. .... After having my gallbladder removed, and after my hysterectomy, my digestive system became 'loose'. I became afraid to go anywhere--what if my stomach decided to 'go'!! Anyway, I discovered that eating an APPLE a day has put my digestive system back to normal. Must be the pectin in it--nothing else has helped as much. I can now go about my days pretty normally, without fear. I have my APPLE a day, just like a prescription pill. I use Collagen Supplements for Dry Skin problems + Vitamin C-D-E & Dairy foods that supply Collagen. Our food/dairy products are overly processed and with very little Nutrients in it especially Fast Foods with Chemicals & preservatives in them. Lot of Truth in the old saying 'We are what we Eat' & like our autos we need the best fuel to run/perform properly. Epsom Salts soaking for feet & body are great too... Gets the Poisions/chemicals out of our body. Studty the Gut Bacteria for digestive issues & Watch the Bad Fats very Important... We need Good Fats but not the Bad ones. Hope this helps you my friend & May the good Lord bless & keep you . Been studying the above many years & still do & still learning. In a nutshell be as 'Natural' as you can. Watch for artifical Flavors & sweetners & Limit Sugar Intake.BTW my brother is 81 still mowing yards & fixing autos. Hang in there Mr.Tom you gotta lot of miles left by the grace of God.

I’m 57 now. Yep, getting old sure isn’t for the weak of heart. Im the skinny and gaunt type. Not a look I like. But its genetics. I’m turning into my Dad. The main thing I’ve notIced over the last two or three years is loss of energy. I used to go to the gym, do lots of chores around the house, yard work, and building things. I still do. But man, do I get tired, and achey afterwards, Never used to feel tired. I’ve noticed I put things off now, or just stop in the middle of it, cause I’m just wiped out. The other thing getting bad are my eyes. Can’t see a thing close up without my reading glasses. I picked up what I thought was a piece of lint off the laundry room floor, but it was a spider! 😂 I’ve got some bad feet too. They callus, and sprain so much easier now.
