It's like people who say "My parent/teacher hit me and I turned out fine" and I'm like are you sure about that? I mean you are arguing for parents/teachers to assault children. I'm not sure that is turning out fine.

@@nicolab2075 if you were committing crimes and the police were bringing you home every weekend and your parents got physical out of frustration is different from regular beating your children for every wrong in my opinon, LBC commenters on the rioting videos are saying "the parents are teaching this behavior and enabling it or just absent altogether" seems like the parents that care are always treated like criminals because of the parents that abuse because they are abusers.

i did turn out fine, in black culture most parents do it out of love and not out of malicious intent, i didn't understand it when i was younger but i did when i was older and i can only imagine the nightmare i was as a child as all children are, we dont know any better, but we learn and grow. sometimes kids dont listen. in the end when i got older my mother said i was actually a well behaved kid and it's because you learn very quickly what NOT to do. i respect that. you dont have to be brutal to your children

Men go for breadwinning at the cost of their family lives.. that is a recipe for divorce and no breadwinning for anybody .. if you don't put love and family life first, the rest is dust.. breadwinning is an old term. If your family has enough love and bonding going on you can get through anything. Lose that and you've lost everything? Except maybe your ego.

well he should shut up, Starmer, she was the best thing for Britain, Thatcher, you may not like all her policies, but which prime minister pleases everybody, Starmer has only been in the job for 59 days and he's not liked, thatcher had 3 terms as being PM so she must have been doing something right, and she was kicked out by the likes of "Tarzan" heseltine the jealous coward and still is. Starmer will not do 3 terms, in fact Labour will not get in again. To take down a picture of a past adversary is silly and childish.

9:10 One of the most absurd things about living in this so called 'information age' is how profoundly ignorant the general population is regarding the most basic concepts of psychological and emotional health. I mean the kind of things that are so fundamental they could be being taught in primary schools. An example would be how, as we mature, we become more able to separate out our thoughts, feelings and behaviours or actions. So when we're a toddler thinking angry thoughts, feeling anger and behaving in an angry way, are all one and the same. Aged two or three we simply don't have the capacity to do, think and feel otherwise. As the brain develops over the next ten years we develop that capacity, but it's usual for that process to be extremely stressful because we aren't given any conceptual framework to understand what's happening to us. Consequently feelings end up being suppressed or acted out, or both. Again this applies to parents, children and teachers. In this day and age when the relationship between long term stress and health is universally accepted by the medical profession, permitting this level of ignorance verges on the criminal - not least because one of the most obvious social symptoms of this underlying cause is bullying and all the '... isms' bullying gives rise to in our schools and in the workplace. Nothing is more sobering to your typical bully than to be confronted with the simple truth that their need to bully others stems from profound insecurity and inadequacy. In this sense I do genuinely think that while therapy should be offered to all victims of bullying it should be obligatory for bullies.

It’s usually because the most privileged people get these benefits. The higher ups go on lots of breaks, the “underlings” have their nose to the grindstone. Then you get people with these benefits and because you didn’t jump in on time you’re life carrying the burden. Where I work there’s 2 people off on term time, almost half the real off on a Friday, and I end up having to carry the burden of all these people at the same time with similar pay. I probably get like £50 extra a month for doing 10x the work. Fairness, it doesn’t happen much. It’s frustrating because you don’t get preferential treatment for being the work horse. When I knew people had this time off I didn’t mind it but I got increasingly frustrated because I was always expected to break my back to support this - with next to no compensation for it. Then these people get mad if my bonus is a bit bigger, entitlement is a problem too. The 5 day a weekers end up working over to cover the 4 day weekers too. I’ve lost count of how many times I’ve had to do it. Workers should have the right to demand pay that reflects their input not based on the internal employee level. I think the Swedish example the caller around 47:00 would work, everyone gets a benefit. Not just some people because it’s wide open for abuse of those who don’t get the benefit or just don’t have the energy for 12 hour days. But I’m the type of employee who just has to work hard or they feel bad but then I get burnt out and have very little productivity and it’s usually because I’m seeing unfairness and that I’m paid the same as people who have benefits I could only dream of while also being more skilled and efficient than those people.

Talking about the legalities of crimes in social media, the laws have failed to keep up with the technology. For example child serial abuse images are illegal to store in most countries in the world. But the method used to store data in large data centres means that a file is split across multiple servers and due to this the storage of the image cannot be proven and placed into a single jurisdiction. To counter this the law needs to be changed and modernised. But the speed of change is do great and the speed of response by social media companies so fast they cannot keep up. The biggest problem across the board is that they have implemented automated checks on reported content. The rules they use are outdated and rely on ignoring the first couple of reports. So this means that fake content, scams and other more serious posts can be retained for months ensuring that more and more people see the posts before anything is done to stop it.

I used to have a poster of John Redwood on the wall. It served as a useful dartboard background. Tories were made for dart board backgrounds. PM Starmer I'm sure being a decent bloke has wrapped the Thatcher portrait in a dust sheet for storage while most rational people would have sold the Tory relic on Ebay for a fiver.

I do not what all the fuss is about. Since 2014 all workers had the statutory right to work flexibly after 26 weeks of employment. Now after 06/04/2024 they have that right from day one. The employer could only refuse such a request if he could prove it was a justifiable business decision. The various forms of Flexible working include hybrid working over various sites, part time working, compressed hours, flexitime, annualised hours, Job sharing and phased retirement. ACAS even has a code of practice for statutory flexible working and there are just over 10 million people in the UK on some form of flexible working contracts.

Of course the law comes into it. The law comes into everything it provides the framework for both Employer and employee. In 50 years of working, I have never seen or heard of any employee being asked or coerced into signing any waver of his rights for the simple reason it is illegal and would not stand up in court.

The country well divided when Thatcher was PM Thatcher's legacy lives on. For sure she was the best PM for herself and the elite. Dead for many years but her actions and legislation has brought about what we see today. For every action it is wise to understand it follows reactions somewhere down the line. br@@englanduk6131

This man is so left wing , he’s vile. There’s a portrait of every prime minister in No10 , are we sure Starmer only removed that portrait and not every conservative pm portrait. L stands so blatantly for Labour not Leading. Worst interviewer, always cutting in, never wants a full answer.

The staircase with a portrait of every PM is still there, this wasn't about that. This painting was on loan from the National Portrait Gallery & now it's returned. Why shouldn't the new PM decorate his new home as he & his family wish? It's not like he spends £800. per roll of wallpaper. By the by, it used to be a local radio station London Broadcasting Company, but then they went national & it became Leading Britain's Conversation. So you've been wrong twice over, are you going to acknowledge the L i wonder...
