I’m glad to hear others do their walk about in the early morning while still in PJs as well! While working in my garden I keep telling myself that I should go inside and change for the day. Sometimes I stop and go in to change because I know my limitations and other times I work too long and can barely walk in the house. Such is my life with Fibromyalgia 🤨. Can’t give up gardening. As long as there’s coffee in the morning, I can still work on my garden. Linda you are an inspiration to ALL garden lovers.

My personal routine is Velcro/stake anything in the raised vegetable beds, pull weeds, look for insect damage. In ornamental beds, I walk slowly by, looking for weeds/saplings, insect damage, wildlife, deadhead, make mental note of anything needing pruning/shearing, and water anything that needs TLC.

My husband and I have a landscape business with one employee who handles the mowing/trimming, etc, but he and I do the bed work, shrub trimming, mulch, and pine straw. I am also the gardener of our personal gardens. This video reminded me of what I do both in customers’ beds and my beds. It truly takes knowledge of plants to know what to pull, how to tidy up, prune, etc. It was fun watching these even though it reminded me of work (though it’s always a pleasure listening to your process and learning more from you). I have a few questions and thoughts. 1. Time stamp 7:24. What’s the green plant growing between your crepe myrtle? 2. Your crepe myrtles. Do you grow them out like that with multiple trunks? I’ve never seen one in a shrubby form like that. 3. You mentioned something eating a plant in the mint family? I just started spraying kaolin clay and water on my eggplants and zinnias because I think flea beetles are nibbling at them. 4. I’m not a fan of chamomile tea either. It reminds me of what dirty dishwater would taste like. 😂 5. What annoys me is when I don’t have the tool I need. Often I have snips but need the loppers. I try ferociously with the snips and finally give in and locate the loppers. I I also despise holly and pecan tree saplings. They are so difficult to remove.

Good morning! I do a walkabout every morning with my clippers and started this after watching you! I've learned to spread out larger tasks so my back doesn't hurt. One thing that gets to me is weeds! I pull them up and they're back again too fast! I will add more landscapers mix to keep them from coming back so fast. The heavy rains here (Richardson, TX) washed away a lot of it which irritates me too. Please keep the fashion epilogs coming!

I too have neighbors ask me questions when I'm out in the front yard gardening. I mostly keep on working and chat at the same time. Years ago I read a piece written by a gardener that I found inspirational. She said for the many years she had been a gardener, she was very focused on the weeds that she couldn't keep up with. She was always frustrated. Then, one year, she had surgery that forced her to stay indoors for a period of time, and precluded her from doing any garden chores. She said viewing her gardens from indoors, it was like she was actually SEEING them for the first time, and appreciating how beautiful they truly had become. From inside, at a distance, she couldn't see the weeds, only her beautiful flowers and shrubs! Thereafter, she promised to focus on what was beautiful in her garden. Yes, she still dealt with the weeds, but she didn't allow them to blind her to what was beautiful!

Mosquitos irritate me (I'm forever forgetting to apply repellent and have to go back for it). lol I've been out making the rounds in my garden this morning (feels like a sauna out today) planning three new garden beds and shopping my garden for a lot of the plants. I'm rooting cuttings from my fringe tree to add in other areas and gifts for gardening friends and family, the north side of my house is my garden nursery for propagation, cooler and shadier for such things, and generally more moist. I'm going to try that with the privets in my garden. Enjoy your day everyone!

Linda, I'm so glad to see that you sometimes let your volunteer trees grow. I just dug up a little redbud and planted it in a pot until I can decide where to put it. They grow amazingly fast! I too trim up a volunteer privet. I can't bear to pass up a free, fast-growing tree. We had to remove three huge Bradford pears because of disease and ugliness. Our landscape looks decimated. But I love a good challenge! I'm taking lots of before and after pics.

In the long run you will be so happy that those Bradford pears are gone! Are used to have some, and have not missed them one bit!

When someone approaches me while I'm on a project, I start the conversation with that exact explaination. "I'm on task right now, but I'll try to multitask, if you'd like a short visit."

Linda my QVC is here it has missing bolts and wrench. I looked and looked. I can have my hubs get some nuts and I don’t need the wrench. This is just FYI. Love ya. Can’t wait to get the rest of my order.

Hi Linda and Stewart. A bit off topic but my two galvanized plant stands from qvc arrived and I love the quality and the look so much I went online and ordered two more. I've seen similar stands though not as versatile with the 4 parts you can use independently like yours for a lot more money, so I am happy with them in every way. Thank you!

It would be fun to "meet" Stuart on camera. I have a 2nd home in a historic neighborhood like yours. Luckily for me my lot is not as deep since its a 2nd home but it's still a real fight to keep up with the yard. It's a popular walking street and sometimes it can be a bit frustrating to get anything done. I try to go out when nobody is out but i'm liking this multitasking idea!

Just to let you know. My metal plant stand from the Vater Collection arrived yesterday. It is gorgeous and added just the touch I needed! I immediately went back to QVC and ordered another. 😄. I also ordered two of the egg shaped trellises. I am soooooo happy!

Oh my goodness I’m not alone🙋🏽‍♀️ the mulch caught in my scissors/trimmers drives me nuts! With all of the rain I searched the hostas for slugs and applied Slug Bait. Those slick little monsters were on the tops of leaves and those I saw I grabbed with a paper towel to get rid of. The rest of my walk about was applying crushed pepper to pots to keep squirrels and chipmunks from digging up my flowers.

I'm on a corner lot with a large front yard garden, so I have people coming by wanting to chat pretty often. Sometimes I keep working on small things while talking, but often I'll take a small break at that time. I'm bad at taking breaks, so it helps.

Early in the morning is when I tackle front street gardening! I find it calm and peaceful at that time, and can get things done in half the time. Then its off to the back yard!

I really enjoy your videos, I’m learning a lot. I bought a small boxwood and made a topiary! Such fun. I also love your baskets and ordered one from QVC, I can’t wait to get it. I plan to use it like you do when tiding up my garden.

Well, that was fun and satisfying and also inspirational. I’s been raining here in Georgia every day this week. Maybe over the weekend I’ll have a chance to get some of those weeds and small tree sprouts out. I agree wholeheartedly that when you see it 👀pull it!! ☘️

I am so glad for this video. My house is located on a corner lot that is in area where there is serious daily walkers, joggers, bikers, dog walker etc. I can barely get my mail without having to see someone. This summer I decided to start mowing my own yard and at times I get caught in lengthy conversations with passerby's. I want to get my work done like you do Linda so I now mow my lawn in the morning when most people are heading for work. I don't have any flowers or plants in my front yard because there is far too many interruptions. I'm sensitive with my own feeling so I think others feel the same as I do. Personally I would not be offended if you could not talk if I was passing by your own. Your garden is your career so you have to treat it as such. Most peoples garden is their hobby or therapy where others don't think much into stopping them for a short/long chat. One day I pray God will show me how I can have and maintain my dream front corner lot garden in privacy where I don't feel like I will offend the sweet passerbys that really mean well.

I have started doing a morning walkabout with my shears and new LV basket and it really does make the job easier than planning a whole day working in the garden beds! I also try to have my phone in my back pocket so I can snap pics or videos of what the garden looks like throughout the season! Thanks for the tips! I didn’t see the link for the watch band- I have the same problem with thin wrists and need to be able to remove some of the links -would love to know which one you ordered!! Thanks!
