GMAN, I was a local spectator on day 3 at this tournament. Believe me, we were all very proud of how Trey handled the whole situation. He had the guts and the attitude that made many of us proud of that young man. He is a fine young man. We were hurting for him as well. You are a fine example of a class act in the sport as well. Good luck to both of you, keep up the good fight !

It happens to us all. Real men learn from their mistakes. That's life and we all hope to gain wisdom from our mistakes. It's always great to listen & learn from our elders too. Great to hear you gave him encouragement and felt some of his painful lessons. It's nice to have someone around for a shoulder to lean on. I hope he makes up for it on the next trip.

G Man I fished the ABT and Bassmaster opens myself and Bassmaster requirements are different and like you explained if you never spent the time money and preparation it takes to just go fish an event like that let alone compete at that level and with all the pressure little things get missed. For Trey to handle the situation like he did is unimaginable and impressive to say the least. Me at 49 years old would have blowed some ones hair back over a rule that has in no way given the kid an advantage but cost him a once in a lifetime opportunity or experience is unjust. Keep your head son you have my respect

I think it's awesome that the sport of bass fishing has the huge following today that it's always deserved! The vast majority of us are passionate about fishing, want to promote positivity, and have the upmost respect for any angler that competes at the highest levels. It's just unfortunate that we have a small group of armchair anglers and Monday morning quarterbacks that try and spoil it for the rest of us with nothing but negativity. I think you hit the nail on the head G! I feel like most of that negativity comes from ignorance and just a general lack of awareness of what it takes to compete at the highest levels of this sport. It seems like the higher you climb the ladder of competitive bass fishing the more humble you become..... Which stands to reason why the most judgemental and opinionated comments are posted by people none of us have ever heard of! I appreciate you making this video buddy! You, Trey, and a host of others will continue to have my support!

BASS has its rules, and they should without a doubt believe and trust that every angler understands and follows the rules. Following the rules should be the pride of the anglers. But its the responsible of BASS that when someone breaks the rules, everyone should know, that's where the trust come into play. Its the responsible of anglers not to blame someone else when it happens. When a rule is broken by accident or unintentionally like in this case, everyone knows, when a rule is broken to get an advantage, it seems to be un-announced . BASS losses that trust when they keep it behind closed doors, and it disrespects anglers like Trey.

Nice video. I think bass should make it mandatory for everyone to show proof before they pay for their first tournament, then have random checks to insure participants are current. I understand why they have to be covered. You have co-anglers, marshals and in Trey’s case a cameraman with expensive equipment. I hate it for Trey, but he’s on the uptick and will be back in one soon. Good to you both. Tight Lines

Great advice GMan, he did great that event and you even did good in 2015 at the chesapeake bay. Simple mistake anyone can make at any tournament. I dont understand boats 1 and 2 get check when they should be checking everyone maybe provide proof of it when you submit entry forms that way everyone is covered. Ive watched Treys video on this and he owned up to it and deal with the outcome he was given. Love watching you fish and once i found out Trey is you nephew and seeing what he did now i have two swindles to follow now. Also you guys more then welcome to come back up and fish these waters whenever y'all have some free time and if you and Trey come up here take me out with y'all and i can get you on some other species of fish we have up here that we have.

That’s a shame that it happened the way that it did, hopefully all tournament trails will follow the Elite way of checking insurance, that way those that don’t will still have time to call insurance companies and upgrade insurance coverage. All them boys an girls talkin crap like u said AINT PLAYED THE GAME and don't have nore KNOW what it takes to fish in an event that big! That's a lot of pressure on ANYBODY to be that far away from home towing a boat, being responsible for everything from the headlights down to the trailer lites and everything in between fishing in an event that hold 200+ people in it.. and being on top of every single thing with every T crossed and I dotted.. and then to be in 2nd PLACE that far into the event already has u trying to keep ur head from spinning off ur shoulders! I'm proud of him. It's a learning lesson, and he'll move past it and his career will go as far as he puts the work in to for it to go... He's got s bright long future ahead of him. It's good that sonthibg like this happened to him his first year out so it won't bite him in the future when more is on the line.. hold your head up proud buddy .. just learn and move on and keep it moving!, They call them mistakes for a reason. Trey showed he is a class act like his uncle. The way he handled it was so impressive and he will see an exponentially increase in his fan base. I hope that translates to sponsorship. I know it is a rule and I am a big rule follower. However, I believe that if this is a requirement everyone should be required to submit before the tournament. Also he got no competitive advantage in the tournament for this rule. It is my opinion it should have been a monetary fine and not a DQ. G thank you for your words. Trey hold you head up, we are all watching and pulling for you!
