PS: I have nothing but the most respect for DP's videographers, photographers who travel and shoot. It's not easy, especially in harsh conditions. As an editor i'm jealous half the time watching footage shot and thankful the other half I wasn't there. The physical endurance to capture some of these images is PRESSING! It's funny cause you watch these images and you have to think "how could you ever have doubted yourselves?" ;) Footage was dope!

haha the doubt was before the sweet footage 😂

Glad to hear you talk about struggles and not just success in this video! Good stuff there! I'm personally getting tired of seeing Iceland on social media, because it feels like everyone especially Instagram is going to capture the exact same locations... I guess it's such an unique place that it's hard to do in a personal way and add something extra to it.

Thanks for exposing this vulnerability Matti! I've been struggling (a lot!) with my master's thesis in ecology for the past months/year, and a lot of what you're going through as a creator and freelancer is surprisingly similar to the struggles of science and scientific writing. I just watched your video to take a small break from the thesis, and now I'm all pumped and motivated again, so thanks a lot!! :D

Awesome vlog man- I can tell y'all were cold and just generally not comfortable, and then you even talked about not being comfortable from a filmmaking perspective. That made the message more authentic I hope everyone can appreciate the grapes it takes to make these kinda vlogs with even the slightest transparency

Thanks for sharing a video that covers the occasional struggle - watching a lot of You and Peter's video's make it look so easy! and for a developing film maker that has loads of creative struggle it's comforting to see that those more established still go through the same ups and downs. You two are my favourite 'go to' film makers btw! Very inspirational - I can do this!🙃

these guys are awesome, peter and matt. i have been watching peter's video from last 3 months. and i found travel feels about a month ago. now these guys are head to head. both guys been my inspiration. following their's techniques i made a very short film in a cheap camera and kit lens without any stablizers. Its not awesome but my friends having no idea about filmmaking are loving it and appreciating my work.

You can't appreciate the mountains without the valleys. You wouldn't know a good pay cheque without a getting a bad pay cheque. It's all contrast. Awesome message and I'm glad I'm not the only one who can go into a shoot and feel like I'm really not that good, sometimes. Great film and cool to see you guys hanging out in Iceland. I think one reason Iceland is challenging to photograph is in most other locations you are trying to find the best photo in a smaller area of beauty. When I was in Iceland you could look in any direction and walk any distance and you could find dozens of possible compositions. It is stimulus overload. When I look back on my photos they pail in comparison to what I saw.
@mattih7 жыл бұрын
totally agree! that happens a lot on my travels but especially in Iceland

LOVED this episode! ❤️ your interview with Kyle was inspiring💕.. I feel you guys, I was in Iceland 2 weeks ago .the weather was very challenging for me as a photographer and filmmaker. Specially for drone shots, you need to constantly battle with the wind. I almost lost my drone when the wind carry it 3km away. Luckily we found it not damaged after half day searching in the mountains near seljalandsfoss!. Hopefully i can come back with rhino team and rhino gear to take the shots that i was not lucky to get for my epic Iceland project 😁
