Thank you for the absolute best advice. I didn’t realize how much I’d like making videos until I actually started my KZbin channel, but this is the same advice I give to my viewers. You have to build your own personal projects to learn how to develop applications. You can look at tutorials all day but until you implement those things in real life, you’ll never get better. I can’t wait to get into more cinematic film creation, but I’m building my base viewership right now. My niche is difficult to have cinematic type videos, but I’m working on it.

Just watched the film, the whole doc...the emotion, the vibe, the story, the tragedy, and the hope and empathy of these people. The handheld shots, the grade, sound design, just the whole damn thing...brilliant! well done, and hats off to you guys, you should be proud of the work, not to mention the fact that making this "passion project" in the first place just raises awareness to the whole situation. Sometimes I think we as "content creators" get too caught up in selfish pursuits online, and want to "grow" our "brand", and get more views, clicks, etc...But in this case, its all for the true greater good of humanity...this is filmmaking, and you guys nailed it...big-time.

before this starts, heres my 2 cents: starting this channel has probably been the best move I've made in a while- it causes me to have a deadline so I HAVE TO make something every week. and even though I've been dreaming of going to film school since I was 6, I feel like I've improved more over the past 3 months uploading then I have my entire life. so yeah, my advice is youtube. I 100% recommend starting, its the best decision I've made in my life. :)

Great advice. Especially like thinking about the moments you want to capture which gives you some structure when filming. Also embracing moments that don't go as planned. Rather using them as a learning experience.

Incredible job with Rescate! Excellent work for a great story that really needs telling. The small town I grew up in had a 'volunteer' fire department, but at least the equipment was funded by the town. These guys go way beyond and it is important that the world knows.

Looking forward to checking out the doc. It’s sooooo important to do personal projects... and yet I still haven’t done one for ages! Hmmmm. Doing the work that you want to be hired for is some of the very best advice, and working on something you love with people you click with, is invaluable. Thanks for all the tips... plan, plan and plan some more. Because if it turns out a bit crappy or your process and footage is a bit naahhh you loose momentum so quickly. I’ve done plenty that ended taking, not only wind out of my sails but a big hole in the boat too. Cheers JT
