My buddy drove his Toyota pick up all spring and summer with a really bad oil leak. he had a 25 mile round trip and he would put in about 3 quarts of oil a day. So one day after getting tired of it he looked underneath. He realized he could not remember the last time he had the oil changed, and it must have been a long time because the oil leak was a hole rotted in the filter 🤣🤣

Glad to hear you are adding oil pressure guages to your cars, I had the same problems back in the 90's with those brass "T's" , I made a distribution block out a chunk of aluminum, just drilled and tapped a " cross" with 2 small mounting holes on the edges so I could mount it on the fenderwell and run all my oil lines and senders to it. I think Summit makes one that's fancier but mine worked fine for what it was.

Instead of using a tee fitting or sandwich plate, why not use a vacuum distribution block as an oil distribution block? Vibrant makes a block with 6 1/8" NPT outlets and a 3/8 NPT inlet. You can run a single line to the oil block, mount your oil pressure sensor directly to the block (which also fixes your vibration issues and helps keep the sensor in tact), and run your turbo oil feed off of this block too. Looks a hell of a lot better than a sandwich plate, gets your sensor away from unnecessary vibrations, and gives you room to add an oil temp sensor further down the road without having to do anything other than pull a plug out of the block and screw the sensor in.

I have seen this before the dowels will most likely solve your problem I saw it in a sbc V8 swapped tractor It would not cause any issue sitting there I the clutch worked great but as soon as you put load on it the torque would cause the engine in my case to shift just slightly enough to make things hit The owner ignored it for one event it said boom and blew the bell housing apart

100% no dowels the cause with high HP. You can see the movement on the mounting faces. I strongly recommend installing the bell housing and clocking it up with a dial indicator to ensure it is concentric with the end of the crankshaft.

I think you'll be fine just putting the Hondaru back together as long as you install the dowel pins. That why the trans shifted over a bit. Even torquing the trans to engine bolts to spec without the dowels installed it's going to shift under power. The dowel pins aren't just to aid in installing the trans to the engine, they are there to keep them aligned. Good luck!

Easily could be miss aligned with out using the dowel pins. The dowels are precision machined and used for the exact purpose of aligning mating surfaces. The flywheel and pressure plate align them selves to each other, the input shaft aligns the clutch plates and that placement of the input shaft is directly correlated to the dowel pin locations.

Just going to throw this out there. I adapted a range rover driveshaft to fit my crv. I pinned the rear clutch pack to make it solid. Bellhousing mis-alignment will chew a pilot bushing fast. Dowel pins are a must, and the bellhousing needs to be indexed to the crank via dial indicator. I'm pretty sure the spec for most clutches is 0- .005" runout. Lack of dowel pins caused this all day.

Try to pull the clutch alignment tool in and out slightly while slowly torquing clutch plate bolts to flywheel. Should be able to be pulled in and out easily (with your finger tips) after clutch is torqued. Then make sure the input shaft is fully inserted into pilot bearing before hitting the bell housing bolts with ratchet or an impact. If the bell housing bolts are used to pull the trans to the adapter plate, the term “properly aligned” kind of goes out the window lol Love you guys and the content, not meant as a hate comment.

Subaru uses different sized pilot bearings/ bushings. Make sure the input shaft is the same as the pilot inner. I messed up a JDM trans input shaft seal using a USDM pilot bearing.

if the pilot bearing/bushing weren't seeing enough of the input shaft, would it have been bashed up like that? off center (i.e.: no dowels ) would cause the edge of the disks grinding and do that to the bushing, if the input shaft makes 1/2" of penetration, it will work... the shaft isn't tapered at the bushing... with dowels, and a clutch alignment tool, the plates can't hit out of round... loose mounts added and that shaft/bushing union is the weakest link. but thats just my two cents on it, we all have ideas of what it could be... hell, I'm just glad they're all healthy!

Input shaft is not reaching pilot bush propley. Said this at the beginning of project. Machine up a extension for input shaft and go to roller bearing pilot. Run dowls and always test fit and measure clutch plates position to gearbox splines.

Looks like a screwed up transmission input shaft. The bellhousing will hold everything aligned without the dowels. The dowels are just to keep it centered while you're trying to set the transmission, the bolt pattern keeps it all aligned afterwards.

The flywheel pilot bush is probably worn or bearing on gearbox side is knackered! Only way them plates could of touched the side of the pressure plate! Had it happen on one of my trucks with the pilot bush worn-the shaft wobbled about and the clutch plate done exactly what yours has!

All these are approximates $10000 transmission, $2000 clutch, $8000-$10000 engine. Doesn't bother with $2 dollar dowl pins to makes sure adapter plate is aligned with the engine. Then doesn't bother with $2 dollar dowl pins to align transmission with adapter plate. Puts engine in and there is gap between transmission and adapter plate, puts in bolts and uses them to close the gap to the transmission. When tightening the bolts to close the gap it was obviously misaligned, that has what caused the pilot Bush to crack and mushroom. And it also looks like the first clutch plate was in back to front that is why the back of the crank is messed up. And because everything was not aligned it has destroyed a big dollar clutch assembly. And possibly the thrust bearings in the engine. They can handle load from depressing the clutch all time. But not being squashed when tightening up a misaligned bellhousing. Then says we went for a ripp without the engine mounts not tight. I always love the videos and what Awesome things they build. But they have built enough of these things to know better. It just pisses me off when you see high dollar parts get destroyed for the sake of making a video. Could have taken more time, got a few more videos out of it and done it properly and not be rushed.

My experience obviously isn’t gonna be everyone’s experience but a little $12 can helped my throttle response a lot on an old V8 and an old 4 banger that would both stumble when you blip the throttle.

Hey fellas, I've been a mechanic for over 40 yrs, mostly heavy equipment and domestics, but it seems to me that maybe the friction disc was in backwards.?. Usually the collar faces the pressure plate and keeps it aligned with the fingers, but I am not familiar with the Honda clutches.

LOL,, at 13:40 first time I've heard that comment since being transported from FOB to FOB in the CH46 and CH53 helicopters while in Iraq and Afghanistan.The birds leaked hydraulic oil like gangbusters, typically we'd find oil drips all over our gear ("kit" as the Brits call) and on the floor making hustling onto and off of them a challenge. When we'd report the leaks to the flight crews they'd give us the thumbs UP and say,, "We're good,, as long as it's leaking we have oil,, now GET the F**K off my bird!" ***** A huge THANK YOU, CUDO's and way too cool for those guys and gals of our American, British and Allied Forces who gutted it out and flew those awesome aircraft moving troops.

@@zaksuzuki here's the funny thing, if you buy a pod filter that has a "bellmouth" inside the air filter you actually pick up HP by using one. That blue car in my DP is twin engine with identical combos front and rear, the rear engine has an air filter and makes 30 HP more. Take it off and the power drops lol go figure I stupidly designed the front turbo placement not to use an air filter before I rear about this and now I can't do anything about the power losses

I think they right about something no being aligned and the pressure plate spinning around it got hit making sparks but I'd check out that conversion plate too to see if it's still on flush.

1. check the input shaft on the Hondaru trans to make sure its now not bent from stuff moving around and check the bearing. 2. put a diagonal brace between the two Rowdyssey shifter brackets. Triangulation is the strongest.

K-Tuned sells a short feed line adapter for the oil lines. Has the main port for the sensor and two ports to feed oil.

The pilot bushing is either wrong or damaged on instillation . The point In the pilot bushing is to support the input shaft at that end .

I used to run a mechanical oil pressure gauge. Had a similar instance where it dropped to zero. I didn't really care if it blew up so I drove it home, but turned out the nylon tube melted on the header. It was a very minor leak. I've used electronic gauges ever since.

A good thing to do is put a little blue locktite on the threads {a drop} for the hydraulic hoses. it defiantly stops them from working loose.

You should definitely run a braided line off the block and then put the tee off the line and secure everything. The vibration will loosen/snap those tees off like nothing if they are straight into the block. Especially if you have the senders hanging off them.

My only thought for the Hondaru clutch is make sure the new input shaft is not slightly undersized and allowing all the discs to shift around slightly on the splines. Otherwise I think your theory of the trans shifting a bit is the most likely culprit.

Im 35... We used to go to a few different video rental places to get vhs tapes then longs drugs moved into town and had video racks at the front of the store for vhs tapes, then slowly they had some dvds, then redbox, and then the Internet... crazy how fast everything moved, I can remember getting dialup Aol Internet in 1994. to see a full page picture could take 10 minutes and a video could take hours to load

When I was a rookie NASCAR driver, I unknowingly used a pilot bushing that was slightly too big and that happened. I always measured them closely after that experiance and eventually used a needle bearing pilot..

Id you want to eliminate the gear lever on the steering column, you can do so and use the cover from a Prelude so that it doesn't look so janky and as if it was stolen.

Kyle, don’t use tubing between the posts on the shifter mount. Use sheet metal on both sides and dimple die them for a cool look and strength.

Ask Jeremy to borrow a mag base and indicator. Use it to check the runout on the input shaft. Just a quick way to make sure the input shaft isn’t bent
