I really enjoyed the format of your videos. Very informative. We've been struggling to get things planted this year as well. Ripped in the fertilizer last week and the next day it rained 8 tenths. It rained another 3.5 last night, with more expected later in the week. We're classified as almost a desert, with 100% irrigation, but I feel like a dry land farmer this year. I should mention I'm talking about sugar beets. Beets that should be coming out of the ground right now, not waiting to be put in the ground. Good luck to you.

Just a suggestion, run the bolts for your hammer strap from top to bottom instead of bottom to top, that way if the nuts ever work loose you'll lose a nut instead of a bolt. It's a little safe that way.

Good you do an over view and review of your gas 1 ton. I'm looking at a few right now and for me I just don't think I need a diesel. (I just sold an 07 Duramax)
@MillennialFarmer7 жыл бұрын
JohnDeere3020Boy It's been good for us. The 6.0 is not over powered by any means but we don't pull any heavy stock trailers or anything. I would have a diesel for a lot of heavy pulling.
@samtalley7917 жыл бұрын
What I'm facing is I need something to drive that reliable for everyday use but pull things when we get into hay season heavy plus pulling anhydrous in the spring. Other than that we go from southern Indiana to Princeton, Minnesota once or twice a year with a camper. i think a diesel would be nice but I just think I could get a nicer truck with a gas motor than a diesel.

We liked the result of the yield of the beans but of course it was a very good year for yields in general in Mn.We noticed they took to wet conditions better than some other varieties in that they were shorter but the pod count was greater and they didn't seem to be harmed by this condition as much.(Adapted to wet feet better.) For what this is worth.

Are the ground prices and rent prices in your area still payable ? Or are they going to be unaffordable like here in Belgium ? 25-35000$ per acre or 500 till 750$ for seasonal rent ?
@MillennialFarmer7 жыл бұрын
jacky bruckers If those are U.S. dollar prices, we are nowhere near that. We will all be out of business long before rent gets anywhere near $750! That would destroy farming here locally. There's nobody around who could make that cash flow.

If you don't mind me asking......does it work on a percentage of the profit or a flat rate for the land?
@MillennialFarmer7 жыл бұрын
Aaron McMahon Most rented ground in our area is straight cash rent. We do have one piece that is "share-cropped" meaning the land owner gets half of the crop, but they also cover half of the input costs. We have several "flex-rents" now where we pay a minimum cash rent and then use a formula to come up with a price to see if we will be paying any extra for that year or not.
